I had previously wonderful experience with my family at Cabana Bay in December 2021 and decided to come back in May 2023. I reserved a suite with ADA accommodations due to my sick mother almost falling in the shower during my first trip. I received a confirmation call two days before my stay confirming our need for an ADA suite. We arrive and tell us that the room we requested was unavailable. Apparently there’s only one room type in the entire resort. They automatically downgraded the room to a standard room with accommodations without being asked. We preferred the suite that we requested so just accepted it with a shower chair. We were told that our check in would be expedited. We were given room keys and told that I’d receive a text with the room number. Hours later and shift change and now the manager currently has no idea about the promises made by the first manager. I had to call to ask about the status of the room and was told I needed new keys. I arrive to the front desk and there was no accommodations for shower chair, and needed to reprint our keys, and given a room on the fifth floor. They made us feel horrible about asking for what was reserved. The room we were given was all the way at the end of the hall, far from the elevator, and the toilet was not working. We called the manager and expressed our disgust and he said that all rooms were booked and we couldn’t be accommodated. Had we been appropriately attended to when we first arrived, we would’ve been disappointed, but satisfied. We wasted a whole day of our precious vacation on the phone with customer service. Luckily my mother can make due with assistance from the family, but I can’t imagine what would happen for a guest that is wheelchair bound. We reluctantly stayed, but don’t plan on returning. I gave two stars instead of one because the housekeeping staff, maintenance staff, and the young people at the front desk were helpful. Read less

The hotel was great and my family enjoyed the facilities. We went with a UK tour operator on a package. It was afterwards the nightmare began. WARNING - This are significant problems with your credit card after you arrive back in the UK. At checkout there was nothing to pay (as expected), however the hotel has billed one credit card for over $3k and proceeded over a couple of days to bill my other card over $6k. I am incurring hundreds of pounds of fees and charges on my cards especially as I have exceeded the limit. Loews hotels owns Cabana Bay and you have to communicate with their billing team, and their incompetence is astounding. Almost two weeks after arriving back and this nightmare is not over. If you are going from the UK, then I advise you to get a credit card separate to your normal bank accounts and only use it for the hotel. Make sure you check out in person and ask for a printout written receipt that nothing is owing. On arrival home cancel the card you used for the hotel immediately. The financial implications of this are considerable and the stress in trying to resolve is unimaginable. Other reviews I have seen seem to indicate this happens often to UK travellers. I don't want anyone else to suffer this Read less

The pools and facilities outside are lovely and the lazy river is so relaxing although you have to purchase your own tubes. Not very many bars inside or outside Drawbacks are the food situation which is appalling it is like food outlets in a mall the seating area is huge and disjointed by the time you are served and paid for your meal and make your way over a public thoroughfare to find a table in a huge eating area your meal is cold , then you have to clear up your plates and put your trash in the bin. the absence of a decent restaurant to eat in if you are staying more than one night makes life a bit difficult Read less

We stayed in the Beachside Tower, 8th floor with Volcano Bay View as well as the surrounding areas. We literally will not stay anywhere else. When we get back to our room after a hard day at the parks. We love to sit down in front of the floor to ceiling high windows and watch the after-hours park operations as Volcano Bay - its very interesting. The Food court serves a decent range of foods to suit even the fussy eaters with the best Malt shake from the ice cream store. The pool is plenty big enough with the bonus of the lazy river. The resort does offer refillable mugs for a fantastic price however we opted not to use one due to the lack of Drinks machines in the resort. With Beachside being a pretty decent distance away from the only machines we could find for 24/7 use were in the food court which is a good 10 minute round trip for a refill. There were 2 machines in the pool area, But unsure if you can access these after the pool closes. Parking was plentiful, the one benefit we enjoy of using the Beachside tower, is access via the back of the resort onto Turkey Lake Road. Allowing us to skip most of the stand still traffic of the I4. As well as quick access to Walmart and other facilities. The only Negative i have to say about the resort is the Music from Volcano Bay. For me... It wasn't overly bad as im partially deaf. I could sometimes hear a faint Bass-ish sound, but nothing overly bothersome for me. My Wife however, it drove her insane! for whatever reason the Music runs from 6am-11pm. 3 hours before park opening which meant a rude awakening and 4 hours after park close. In the end we resorted to ear plugs, after which the music didn't become a problem. Bear in mind - we are on the 8th floor. I can't imagine how louder it must have been on the lower floors. We will be back, and we will be staying in the same room with Volcano View again 100%. Just please, Universal do something about Volcano Bay Music after park close. Read less
