Stayed at this hotel for 9 nights at the end of August 2014. Fabulous place; staff was very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is located about 1h - 1.5h drive from the airport. Hotel is beautifully... Read more set right next to a small public beach (there are no private beaches in Mauritius). They offer daily activities at no charge like glass bottom boat trip (which we used and it was great), snorkelling, kayaks etc. They also organise a catamaran cruise at a charge. The hotel itself is fantastic with 2 swimming pools, gym, tennis court, games room and spa. Our room was very spacious and was serviced every day. We stayed in one of the "older" room as they have newly refurbished rooms (I think the numbers are 500 and up); however it was still very nice. I was impressed with the size of the shower room. We stayed on a half board basis and enjoyed our buffet breakfast and dinner. The choice and quality of food was good; we always have something nice to eat (grilled fish was always amazing). You can order a lobster dinner at a surcharge and you will get a separate part of the restaurant to enjoy it in a more luxurious atmosphere :). Spa facilities are great; I used one of their signature 90-minute treatments and left the spa refreshed and relaxed. We had an amazing stay in this beautiful place and would highly recommend it! The friendly and efficient welcome we received on arrival set the scene for our 16 day stay. Our beach facing room [ 545] was immaculately presented and delivered on all our needs. As country... The small quiet beach just across the road has all day sun and free pedaloes, kayaks, glass bottom boat and loungers. There were always enough chairs and umbrellas. The buffet style restaurant menu changes daily – if there is nothing that appeals they will cook for you. The food was good, but could be improved by a greater variety ,particularly with cereals. Great and friendly table service is provide by Christina, Manjoo, Christiana and Whalid and all of the other staff. Sanjay, who will cheerfully help with your cases has a hidden talent – he is responsible for the daily floral date display near the restaurant and if you are really lucky you may get one of his hand made birthday cards or a decorated coconut or pebble. The lobby/ reception team are there to help and they do it friendliness and style. Our thanks to them with special mention of Ashley , Tash and Manuella. Ravi had kindly arranged for a room upgrade for us. The lobby team were of great help in our efforts to save a monkey that was being kept on very poor conditions in a cage in the Grand Bazaar in Grand Baie. The monkey , near stall 133, was alone in a cage without shade or comfort and on enquiry discovered that it had been there for 9 years. It was in a sorrowful state. At our request Ashley kindly called an Animal welfare organisation and as a result we visited the local police on 1st September, they took our complaint seriously and we filed a report. Particular thanks go to Ashley and Pravesh for their patience and assistance in trying to help us contact the right people to help the monkey and fort Ahley`s continued help following return to the Uk to discover the fate of this monkey. We used the local buses and also negotiated with taxi drivers. We are pleased to recommend Coin de Mire Attitude as a great place for a quiet and comfortable holiday with excellent service. The hotel has much to commend it but without doubt the greatest asset is the wonderful team of people in all departments who go that extra mile with smile to make your stay a memorable one. We celebrated two “big” birthdays during our stay and the staff did all they could to make those days special. Our dining table for dinner was decorated beautifully, we were served a specially cooked meal and presented with a cake. Rooms are decorated each day with an animal made from towels – but on Sue’s birthday , courtesy of Ali the Housekeeping Manager , our room became a mini Zoo with 14 different towel animals and 4 candles. The first thing we saw when entering the room was a monkey made out of a towel. The next day Ali removed 7 animals and added 7 new ones. The following day the whole lot were changed for a completely new menagerie. They were skilfully made and a lot of fun and Sue was very touched by the kindness shown to her. Ali has a good team – and our thanks also go to Khatoo who kept our room clean, neat and tidy. We would thoroughly recommend Coin de Mere and know many other holiday makers were also happy with the hotel and staff. Read less
