Celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary at Sugar Beach was outstanding. We are completely relaxed, happy and somewhat rounder after a fabulous 12 days. This hotel had many different activities for everyone. Our teenage son was very happy to find many friends who especially like kicking football on beautiful green grass by the palm trees and dipping... Read more in and out of pool or into the clear blue sea between playing football. Our room was a pleasant over looking the sea. Location of the hotel suited us perfectly it was by the lovely long beach easy to walk from one way or to other if you weren't stopped by someone trying to sell you jewellery etc. food was great on buffet only one comment I would say it was getting very busy most of the time. There was a lovely Italian restaurant by the beach own by the hotel. No free wifi on rooms not ideal for teenagers. Sport club great! Swimming with or trying to catch the dolphins up was challenging say the least. July great time to visit it was not too hot for us. Would we go back to this hotel, let's say we visited many beautiful hotels in Mauritius. Read less
Large lovely hotel very well maintained and kept clean the beach however needed cleaning not by the staff but those who use it its simple take the crap with you , it`s not a great amount of rubbish... Read more don`t get me wrong hardly noticeable but it is around (watch your feet for the odd bit of broken glass) we removed the odd piece .We thought all the staff we came across were very friendly especially , pardon the spelling Sorab and raj by the Quiet pool they always made sure we had a drink at all times thank you very much . Weddings its like a conveyor belt at times and can slightly disrupt your holiday especially at meal times , again not all the time .Service in the evening for your drinks after your meal can be hit or miss sometimes you have to wait , other times you have not finished your glass and they are topping you up (first class) .Basically all i`am saying is you`ll have a great holiday, we did but little things need addressing ,Enjoy and thank you Sugar Beach . If you're thinking of going to Mauritius I highly recommend Sugar Beach. We stayed end Sept/beginning Oct for two weeks. Check-in at 7.30am after an overnight flight was one of the smoothest... Read more check-ins I've ever experienced. We were asked to leave our cases with the porters, walked to a seating area near reception, given a refreshing cool drink and then handed our keys. A few minutes later a member of staff showed us to our rooms. Our bags turned up about 10 minutes later. An impressive start to our holiday to say the least. I was delighted that the hotel, despite being busy, were able to allocate us rooms by the quiet pool. The outstanding customer service started even before check-in when I emailed the hotel to ask for some suggestions for our friends 50th birthday which was due to be while we were on holiday. As we wanted this to be a surprise we were able to get everything organised before arrival which was great. The private beach BBQ that was organised was amazing. I cannot thank the staff at Citronella's enough. They all worked so hard to give us a truly memorable night. Having our own private chef was the icing on the cake which our friend loved. A birthday cake was also provided by the hotel. As we couldn't finish the cake due to the amount we had already eaten the staff arranged for the remainder to be delivered to our room! If you have a special occasion to celebrate I would recommend you speak to guest relations about booking something like this. Well worth it. The setting was beautiful, fairy lights hung up and a fire on the beach. The table looked amazing and our waiter was super, coming out to us repeatedly to check everything was ok. The hotel itself has a beautiful beach setting, lovely grounds and excellent facilities (gym etc). But to me what made the holiday so enjoyable and memorable was the amazing staff. I've never been on a holiday where the staff (and management) were able to make us feel like we were receiving personal service at a time when the hotel was full. It speaks highly of the service provided that we regularly saw (and spoke to) the General Manager and the Executive Assistant Manager who popped up all around the resort throughout the day. I would also recommend booking into all of the a la carte restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed them all, although my favourite was Tides. The buffet restaurant was also great, particularly the Mauritian themed night. Yes wifi was a little slow but we did manage to get reception both around the main areas and in our room. Our room was a standard room by the quiet pool. We loved that location which gave us a lovely view and a gentle stroll to the restaurants. The room itself was a good size with plenty of hanging space. It was great that the use of the safe was free. We were booked in fully inclusive and I would recommend that option. Although not every single thing is included, to be honest the choice that was meant we never really felt like we missed out on anything. Thank you to all at Sugar Beach, hope to see you again sometime. Read less
