TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We stayed at this resort for two relaxing weeks; the attention to detail is excellent, the food and drinks high quality and varied. We were all inclusive and although this involved less choice than... Read more the general menus, there were plenty of options in each of the restaurants. The wine menu was particularly impressive and the best we have ever encountered on an all inclusive holiday. All public areas were spacious and impeccably clean, there was always a dining table or sunbed available and it was obvious that the resort had made a conscious decision to over subscribe to these facilities. Activities, like the resort, were low key and not invasive. We tended to use the quiet infinity pool and always found a spot irrespective of the time of day. The entertainment was good quality, predominantly live music in Tides, the beachside bar. We usually stay away from organised evening entertainment, but found ourselves drawn to the beach bar after dinner on many occasions! We used the facilities at La Pirogue, the sister resort next to Sugar Beach, throughout our stay. This brought an added dimension to an already top quality holiday. The resort will struggle to retain its five star status in the current market due to the rooms, although clean, with good quality furnishings, they are dated and the bathrooms fall way short of a five star, specifically a shower over the bath. Having said that, it did not retract from a wonderful holiday in a very special resort. Read less
We stayed here last year for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The resort is incredible with plentiful activities to keep you interested. The food and drink is very high quality. We went all-inclusive... Read more and is without doubt better than most a-la-carte places that we've been too. We have a strict vegetarian diet and they accommodated perfectly for us. The kids club is fantastic and is open until 10pm in the evening. Our kids were so at home there, that they were disappointed when we had other activities planned. For our actual anniversary, they prepared a special meal and really made a great effort to make it one to remember The staff are extremely friendly and really make your stay one to remember. They are always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. Pools are great, beach is fabulous, activities are excellent. What more can I say? Holidays don't get better than this!! Read less

Read more I am writing this review on behalf of my parents and my little brother who started to cry when we left the hotel... and he hadn't cried for years! That's the impact Sugar Beach has on their younger guests! Pure family enjoyment! When we arrived early in the morning, we were greeted with smiles and warmth and we were already starting to feel as if this holiday will be the best yet. They kindly took our suitcases whilst we checked into a luxurious environment with free lemongrass drinks and towels. The checking-in process was smooth and comfortable and we were able to move into our room half and hour later after a welcoming breakfast due to the room still being occupied. Once we got to the room, it was just as we expected it to be, if not more. The beds were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was adequate and immaculate, the floor was dirt-free yet, however, the furniture did look a bit tired. However the room was well kept by impeccable cleaners who, on my dads birthday, arranged towels into animals and wrote a lovely message. After a good sleep, we went out to enjoy the daily late afternoon services such as pancakes on the beach with numerous toppings, heavenly cocktails, cosy sofas and excellent service by The Tides waiters. Then came dinner which was superb every night. There were tasty bites and curries, refreshing salads that they kept on refilling and glorious desserts! The food was always well-cooked thanks to chef Romeo who instantly knew that my brother had many allergies and that we were all vegetarians which was catered very well at the buffet. The dinner was even better with the outstanding service by the waiters, noticeably, Ajay, Vikram, and Kevin with all of them, including Food and Beverage manager, Sachin, caring for us as if we were family! That's service at its up most excellence! The entertainment was equally great, with the Teens Club providing fun activities on a relaxed schedule including daily volleyball, water polo and football with great monitors such as Didier, Jeremy, Andy, Yunas, Jason and Mevin who took us out on the excellent catamaran excursion to watch dolphins and snorkel! We would also like to thank Evan for the fantastic boat ride snorkelling to see the wonderful fish and Vikash for the unforgettable experience of parasailing! We would also like to say a huge thanks to Bernard for giving up his own time to teach my younger brother how to snorkel! We would like to thanks also Viren for his superb service and extremely friendly greetings and assistance which could not be matched by anyone else! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here at Sugar Beach and would like to thank everyone who had helped us in making this holiday the best yet! Read less
We stayed at Sugar Beach between the 12th and 23rd August 2014 in Superior room 711. I can honestly say that could not fault any part of the whole experience - we had a wonderful time! The room was... Read more beautiful with a sea view and a huge bed! The location of the hotel was great and within easy reach of many different attractions on the island which I will not cover in this review. Upon arrival we were met with drinks and helpful information about the hotel and facilities - we arrived very early in the morning but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They took our luggage, offered use of a shower room (much appreciate after a 12 hour flight!) and we were invited to have lunch and drinks on the beach and they would come and find us to let us know when our room was ready, which they did much sooner that we expected! Food and drink facilities are plentiful and varied, especially with the possibility of using the restaurants at the neighbouring resort, however the food at Sugar Beach itself was more than enough to keep us going for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the time that we were there and we never actually got round to using the other resort. We had seen other reviews saying that the all inclusive selection was too limited however we did not find this in our case as I did not have the same meal twice! The buffet at Mon Plaisir had a huge choice including different themed nights and was of excellent quality. Breakfast was excellent too, including fresh fruits, juices, and both cooked and continental choices. We were also provided with a packed lunch for one of our full day excursions. With regard to the facilities, they were exactly as described. We were laughing about the fact that this is the first holiday we have been on where everything is as perfect as it looks! Our room was close the the quiet pool which is an infinity pool looking out over the sea, but it ws just a short walk to the main pool where more activities were available such as aquarobics and water polo, amongst others. Both pools were immaculate and cleaned daily but sometimes colder than swimming in the sea which we didn't expect! Sunloungers were plentiful and we never had a problem finding somewhere to sit. We didn't use the spa so can't comment on this other than that there appeared to be a good range of treatments available, however the gym was adequate with a fair range of different classes as well as equipment. There was also equipment hire available if you wanted to go on a pedalo or go snorkelling, along with plenty of other option such as tennis rackets etc. Everything is catered for at Sugar Beach! One thing we did personally love was the Cat Cafe - the charitable aspect was great and I loved having cats around the resort to fuss and play with. I appreciate that some people are not keen on cats but the feline residents are not intrusive and I didn't see anyone needing to shoo them away. Whilst we were at Sugar Beach we celebrated our wedding anniversary and we did receive a special treat which we were not expecting at all! We had planned to name individual staff in this review who had impressed us, but had to abandon that idea when every single member of staff, without exception including reception, bar staff, waiters, housekeeping, porters and pool staff proved to be the friendliest, most attentive people we have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel incredibly welcome from start to finish. Even our flight home was delayed by almost 12 hours, and despite the fact that we should have checked out hours ago, we were accommodated by the hotel and allowed to stay in the same room. Whilst waiting for our 3.30am rearranged transfer, we were given coffee, breakfast, and even allowed to use the staff computer to check our flight details. The management of all levels were visible on site and available to chat to, and they are clearly doing something right. They should be proud of their staff as they really made our holiday special. In all, this was our perfect holiday. What was intended to be a 'once in a lifetime' trip has turned out to be somewhere we would like to visit again and again! Thank you to all the staff at Sugar Beach for making us feel so welcome. Read less
