Having visited many other resorts world wide, we were very pleased with what Sugar Beach resort in Mauritius had to offer, the resort lies along the west coast, a natural wonder made by a long... Read more stretch of coral reef creating a beach lagoon extending for 6 kilometres. The water along the beach is crystal clear and with hardly any waves making it excellent for swimming/ snorkelling. The beach however whilst sandy is somewhat made rough by coral and is not easy to walk into the water without special slippers. The resort itself is very clean and well maintained, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We stayed at a beach front family unit which was meters away from the beach and with outstanding views. We stayed on an all inclusive package which provided a reasonable variety and choice and would recommend it. Very pleasant overall stay that exceeded our expectations. Read less
We stayed at this resort for two relaxing weeks; the attention to detail is excellent, the food and drinks high quality and varied. We were all inclusive and although this involved less choice than... Read more the general menus, there were plenty of options in each of the restaurants. The wine menu was particularly impressive and the best we have ever encountered on an all inclusive holiday. All public areas were spacious and impeccably clean, there was always a dining table or sunbed available and it was obvious that the resort had made a conscious decision to over subscribe to these facilities. Activities, like the resort, were low key and not invasive. We tended to use the quiet infinity pool and always found a spot irrespective of the time of day. The entertainment was good quality, predominantly live music in Tides, the beachside bar. We usually stay away from organised evening entertainment, but found ourselves drawn to the beach bar after dinner on many occasions! We used the facilities at La Pirogue, the sister resort next to Sugar Beach, throughout our stay. This brought an added dimension to an already top quality holiday. The resort will struggle to retain its five star status in the current market due to the rooms, although clean, with good quality furnishings, they are dated and the bathrooms fall way short of a five star, specifically a shower over the bath. Having said that, it did not retract from a wonderful holiday in a very special resort. Read less

The kids club is fantastic and is open until 10pm in the evening. Our kids were so at home there, that they were disappointed when we had other activities planned.
