It's taken me a year to get around to writing this review! (Sorry!). We got married at Sugar Beach, Mauritius on 30 September 2013, we took our close family, so a total of 9 of us went. It was... Read more amazing! We had researched lots of hotels but finally chose SB for its location, the other reviews and the fact that the sugar plantation theme looked good, also that there is only one wedding arranged each day. We worked out it would be cheaper to arrange our wedding direct with the hotel rather than having a planner with a tour company as we weren't sure what they were adding that we couldn't do ourselves! Christine, the lady at the hotel who we arranged everything with was fantastic and answered all our questions over email and let us know what documents we needed to bring. We arrived on the Friday morning and our wedding was on the Monday. On arrival Christine had arranged for another lady ( can't remember her name, maybe Sandra, she was lovely and told us things about the island en-route) to accompany us up to Port Louie to get our documents registered. This was all seamless and worked out great, even though we were tired from the flight. We then had a couple of days to relax, it was agreed that we would choose flowers, agree where in the hotel we would get married and the finer detail on the Saturday morning with Christine. I have to say, this was all so relaxed! To actually choose your flowers so close to the day, amazing! The hotel itself is lovely, very clean, beautiful! All the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. We chose to get married out the front of the hotel and to walk down the steps which was lovely. The day itself was perfect, the 'girls' had a morning spa session and the 'boys' went off to play tennis. The wedding was at 3pm and you get to choose what music you walk down to which is loudly played! Everyone was very attentive, Christine was great and a buggy was sent to collect us 'girls' from our room. The 'boys' were given a dressing room of there own. Another fab thing was that all our clothes were taken to be pressed and were delivered back pristine and ready for the ceremony. We didn't know what to expect from the service, but the registrar did a really lovely speech, we then exchanged rings and had a toast with cake and champagne Our photographer took around 300+ pics around the hotel after, which were stunning, he was such a lovely patient man and I would thoroughly recommend him. We also did the tradition of planting a coconut tree - obviously helped by the staff The evening we had booked the BBQ on the private beach, they did us proud. It was lovely with little bonfires, the sound of the waves, a private bar, music, and the food was outstanding. If you are looking to book a wedding in Mauritius, I would definitely recommend Sugar Beach and would like to say a big thank you to the hotel as they made our big day perfect! Special thanks to Christine! Read less
We are just enjoying the last few days here at Sugar Beech. Despite having many rooms this place never feels crowded. Andrew the manager is a constant presence, very approachable and always has time... Read more for a chat. The slightest issue is dealt with swiftly and efficiently. The resort itself is spread over a wide area along the beach and there is so much to occupy the days and nights from activities to restaurants. The staff are especially friendly and so helpful although some guests choose to treat them like they are second class citizens, they are the kindest people I have met. To name a few that deserve special credit, Karen at guest services, Mathieu at reception and Ashvin in the restaurant have made our stay here perfect. Andrew please note these jewels in your hotel! We will be back soon, still some more fabulous diving and dining to be done Read less
This hotel is wonderful, the location was beautiful, food excellent and all staff could not do enough to assist you. (They even changed thenTV channel so that my husband could watch thenGrand Prix... Everywhere in the hotel was spotless. We ate in all of the restaurants and never had nothing but excellent food and service. I would recommend going All Inclusive otherwise it could be very costly if wanted to have both lunch and dinner. We will definitely be returning. Read less

Read more celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Sugar Beach is perfect in every way, fantastic setting and grounds, wonderful staff, excellent food, in fact there is nothing you could ask for that isn't here. We had a lovely room by the quiet pool, with a sea view, and just steps from the beautiful beach. You didn't even have to leave the beach at lunchtime if you didn't want to, your lunch and drinks would be brought to you, excellent service. We tried the water sports and also the spa. The staff are so polite and do everything they can for you. Excellent facilities and nightly entertainment. We would personally like to thank the Management and the staff for making our Ruby wedding celebration such a memorable occasion. We would not hesitate to recommend Sugar Beach Resort. We stayed at this luxury hotel for a week and didn't want to leave! Room: We had a lovely sea facing room with a balcony that was also close to the gym (handy as we were on all inclusive - more... Read more about that later!). Great size with comfy bed and plenty of space. The shower was a bit temperamental but only on the odd occasion so was good enough for us! Hotel: great looking hotel in a fab location close to local shops and restaurants. Beach is stunning - everyday we would just stare at the amazing views. A perfect place to watch sunsets from - and they were definitely worth watching! Entertainment at the Tides restaurant was also great- and guests are also invited to a drinks evening where you can mingle with other guests! Food: We haven't been on an all-inclusive break before and after going here, we aren't sure why! The food was fabulous - lunch at The Tides (greek salad my fave!) and dinner at the buffet were just wonderful. Loved that the buffet had a different theme every night. We ate at the Italian restaurant (Citronella) once and enjoyed it but preferred the others. We didn't eat at La Pirogue even though we had the option. Afternoon tea was great - pancakes only (not a traditional afternoon tea) and the choice of drinks (alcoholic and non-alc) was great. Just beware that fresh orange juice isn't in the all inclusive at dinner time! If you are on the all -inclusive just check the bill when leaving as mistakes can be made but were rectified easily. We were also given a packed lunch on the days we weren't in the hotel. People: The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially Katidha at front desk, Veda, Henri and Karisma (buffet restaurant). We couldn't have felt more welcome! Other bits: wifi wasn't great - connection dropped a fair amount - but use it as an opportunity to escape! Also I wasn't a fan of the flying ants after sunset or the flies but they can't be helped! All in all would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Mauritius. Read less
