The hotel garden is unbelievable, one of the most beautiful gardens I ever seen, the varieties of plants and trees are amazing with wonderful range of colours. The only disappointment is the beach not the best for swimming due to rocks and the sand is not very smooth. However, the hotel has two nice swimming pools. We rarely return to a hotel but the Oberoi is the exception because it is simply the best - best for service, best for friendliness and courtesy and best for the rooms, gardens and facilities. From... Read more the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are made to feel special and it still amazes me that the staff care enough to address guests by name. As other reviews have stated, it is the little things that make a difference. When we were at the hotel recently my husband was unwell. The hotel sent him a beautiful flower arrangement and get well card, and the chef prepared a special meal for him. Nothing is too much trouble. It is difficult to single out specific staff members because they are all outstanding, but a special thanks must go to Natacha for her care and understanding. I appreciate the fact that the hotel is a little more expensive than neighbouring hotels but it is worth paying the extra. You will not regret it! Read less

The rooms are great and the food particularly good - hats off to the chef who made amazingly good dishes every night. Being small (about 75 rooms) the place is quiet and very relaxing with plenty of space on the beach and in the pools. The scuba diving was a private one - never had that before. My wife and daughter also said that the spa is one of the best they have ever been to and that is saying a lot! Overall, an experience not be missed and we will be back. We were greeted by the Hotel Manager on arrival, which was a nice touch! he made us feel right at home with a cool beverage and warm greeting. Attention to detail was paramount, and pretty much the entire check in procedure was smooth and enjoyable. I would like to thank him for a warm welcome and availability to answer any question. I rate this manager as exceptional from the way the entire hotel is run. Rooms: we stayed in the luxury pavilion, which was more than what we expected, its beautifully designed, lots of natural light, airy and very nice decor. You can see small details here and there that are clearly inspired by this wonderful Island. The view was amazing, right on the water and a beautifully landscaped garden. Naturally being a five star property, all the amenities are available including a premium coffee machine and WIFI. Bed was super comfortable with a wide choice of pillows. And we daily had fresh fruit and water replenished in our room. All in all, great. Spa: Relaxing, comfortable, and pleasing to the eyes. The treatments are superb and the therapist are fantastic. I recommend the Oberoi treatment :). Restaurants: We had breakfast and dinner almost every day during our stay, and i don't regret it at all. There are plenty of choices, everything is well prepared and tasty. The atmosphere is very pleasant and again the services are exceptional. I recommend the crepe for breakfast its absolutely to die for. And i also recommend the dinner in the gunpowder room for a great mauritian feast:).
