TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We love the Moon Palace having got married there two years ago. We returned at the start of October with some friends and our children. Initilially we were all allocated room in the sombrero... Read more section of the sunrise however this was right on the boundary of the hotel grounds and was very isolated. We upgraded to a family room at the cost of £1400 which saw us given a more central location. There has clearly been a lot of money spent on the hotel so it looks even more fabulous than before. The service is excellent especially Conception and Pablo serving drinks poolside next to the swing bar. Jesus also deserves a mention for the cheery way he greated everyone each morning as he cooked omelettes in the sunrise buffet . Over the course of the two weeks we ate in most of the restaurants and have no complaints regarding the food. During the first week the restaurants were a little busier at times due to a conference being held. A lot of the MP money has been spent on their conference facilities and I fear this may be to the detriment of holiday makers. During our second week another conference of 1700 Tupperware ladies from across Mexico descended and this resulted in restaurants being packed to capacity. We got turned away from several restaurants for breakfast and lunchtimes were a nightmare despite attempting to time it around their lunch. The final straw came one night in the sunrise lobby when the Tupperware group completely took over. Their behaviour was completely out of hand and not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel at all. There was no seating left, the noise was unbearable and that was the only night that the service was poor as the conference goers were clearly given preferential service. Management wandered about and did nothing. On getting turned away from restaurants the following morning as they were full of Tupperware ladies we decided to complain to management, something we have never done before. They took our complaint onboard and stated that the conventions are very important to them and provide a high revenue for the hotel . We suggested that perhaps a single restaurant could be set aside for their meal times and they said perhaps this was something they could look into. Lots of people were complaining via social media about the Tupperware ladies however I don't know if it will have any impact unless people complain directly to management. The MP is an amazing hotel and the staff are fantastic . We had day trips to the Beach Palace and Playa Car Palace and they aren't a patch on MP. I would go back on the provisal that there was no large conference being held as £7000 is too much to spend on a holiday to have aspects of it spoiled by people who are being paid to be there through their work.
