TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We visited Moon Palace at the end of March 2015. We were intending on going to Moon Palace Jamaica, but its opening was delayed. We were returning to Moon Palace for about the fifth time. As always... Read more , it was great. There were three families in our group. They all received our diamond bracelets, as they were traveling with us. The guys went golfing one time. All of the adults had spa appointments. I did parasailing right off shore for the first time in my life. It was a fun experience and to be able to see the resort and hotel zone from the sky. Some of the party went to swim with the dolphins one day with resort credits. The Tulum tour, as always, was a fun trip. One day some of the party went to Xplor and the others went to Xel-Ha. We both enjoyed our day (I will write a review about Xplor). The last two days we hired a driver to taken us around in his passenger van. All twelve of us fit in just fine. The first day we visited Playacar Palace and on the second day we visited Beach Palace. During the morning of the second day we had a Paradise Adventure tour that left from the hotel zone (more about that in another review). We had rooms in the Grand section. This is our preferred section, as it is quieter and the rooms are larger. For the most part, we would walk to the other sections to get exercise, unless we were in a hurry. Every night we tried a different restaurant. They were all great. The two at the golf course (Trattoria and the new Mayan restaurant) were perhaps our favorites. The weather was very nice during our trip. It rained just one day out of the seven. Even thought the hotel was close to full occupancy, it didn't seem crowded. The service was excellent and the food was great. We love always coming to Moon Palace. Read less
We recently traveled to the Moon Palace and stayed at the Sunrise portion of the property. We felt welcome and spoiled the whole trip. I want to especially thank Carlos Martinez in vacation... Read more planning for his ongoing assistance in coordinating our excursions, spa appointments and other outings. At one point during the trip, I hurt my foot and was unable to walk for the remainder of our vacation. the hotel was very accommodating in allowing us use of a wheelchair. Ebert with public relations made sure I got to the hotel doctor okay and arranged a taxi for me to get x-rays. Everyone's reassurance made a potentially scary experience bearable. Carlos Martinez called me the following day at my hotel room to see how I was doing and to see if we needed to modify any of our tours. The food in all of the restaurants was good, and I would recommend trying out each one. It is somewhat of a hassle to wait in the crowded lobby for a table, but with the pagers and some planning, you can have your meal at the time you want. Our 17 year old daughter loved the "Wired" teen club and Flow Rider as well as the pool. As many have stated, the beach isn't much to brag about, but there was so much more to do that we didn't mind. The view from our balcony was still gorgeous. We ordered room service a few times and our daughter said they have the best chicken nuggets around. We didn't feel the need to leave the hotel for anything, other than the planned tours and unplanned trip to the hospital for my foot. It really is an all-inclusive get away. Go if you can! Read less
My family and I are currently halfway thru our one week vacation at Moon Palace. It has been wonderful. My husband and I are here with our 3 children (10, 8, 6) and I can't say enough good things... Read more . Room: we are in the Luna building of Sunrise and it is great. close enough to the restaurants/activities but not so close that noise is a problem. We booked a family suite and it is awesome. It's two adjoining room ( a king and 2 doubles) with two balconies and two bathrooms. Food: we have enjoyed the food. It's not the best good you will ever eat, but it is good. The buffets have a little of everything and the a la carte restaurants are better than expected. So far, our best meal has been at the Brazilian steakhouse at the Nizuc section. We have not had to wait to be seated more than 5mins at any of the restaurants. We have been eating between 6 and 8pm. Pools: awesome!! There is a toddler section with slides and activities, plenty of chairs, and lots of fun. We have been sitting at the "activity pool" in the sunrise section everyday and love it. Music, games and fun. We have not had any difficulty getting chairs and have been reserving them before breakfast at 8-9am. Activities: our kids have enjoyed everything. The flow rider, the water slide (at Nizuc) and even the playroom. The playroom is for kids 4-12 and is for all intents and purposes is a babysitting service. They will serve lunch and dinner and have a "movie theatre", "spa", indoor/outdoor playground and activities such as bracelet making, face painting and nails. The teen room has also been a big hit. Kids 13-18 can go alone but younger kids need an adult. There is pool, air hockey, an arcade, video games (kinect, play station) and food. Kids can get pizza, sandwiches, popcorn, ice cream and drinks. Resort Credits: I read a lot about the resort credits on this site and that they are difficult to use, so I had very low expectations. We have found them to be great however. We used them for the 5 of us to swim with the Dolphins, for spa treatments and for upgraded wine at restaurants. You are still responsible for taxes, but our credits paid $600 of our dolphin swim (we paid $100 in taxes ), $300 towards two 80 min massages (we paid $130 in overage and taxes) and wine that we paid about $10 in taxes per bottle. Entertainment: Great shows. Much better than other all inclusive a we have been to. Overall, so far this has been a great experience. I am hoping to do our next big family trip (20 people) here as there is something for everyone. Read less
My wife and I stayed at Moon Palace for 10 days in April. Ricardo Alarcon made our golf tee times for the 10 days as he always does for us.Jorge Alberto Munoz was our bartender at the golf course... Read more bar, he always greets us with a smile. Christian Miranda was our concierge, and had all our excursions, spa appointments and dinner reservations arranged for us when we arrived. Adrian Bacelis at the golf course met us each morning and had our golf clubs ready for us to play. Jesus Manuel was our waiter at the Nizuc pool for lunch and he always took care of us. Victoria (Can’t remember her last name, but she runs the Italian Restaurant, Trattoria ) she always takes care of us. It was a great trip and we look forward to returning soon Read less
I stayed at the Moon Palace for a convention April 2015. First off the resort is huge! It is divided into different sections, each like its own resort. The Sunrise building to me was the largest and... Read more had the most going on there. The event center is located next to it. The Nizuc building is where I stayed. The Grand building is further out of the way. We did venture there once to eat at Los Tacos (amazing) and it seemed smaller but with larger rooms. We did not venture over to the golf course part which has villas or the spa. The pools are amazing and huge. We spent most of our time at the Nizuc pool as it was closer to our room and more quiet and not as crowded. The Sunrise pool was a bit bigger and had the wave rider and slide etc. Like any resort there were people who went and reserved seats and didn't come back for hours but if you asked the staff they would go search you out a chair. We never had a hard time finding chairs by the pool. The one take away from this resort is that the staff was AMAZING. Any time you looked up you had somebody there to help you. I know this was a busy week for them and service was excellent. Many stars above a Sandals resort in terms of service. If you are with a large group and some of them are at different building it is a huge pain. There is a shuttle that goes between buildings and I did try the walk one day from the Sunrise Event center to my room in Nizuc (closer to the grand lobby than the Nizuc lobby) and it was more than I bargained for. If you read the other reviews you know that this is not the resort to come to if you are a beach person. The water is not swimmable except for a tiny sand bar which I did walk out on once. A couple in our group took the shuttle to the Beach Palace sister resort and said the beach was amazing there and you have all inclusive perks there as well. The times for the shuttle weren't great so we never did venture over there. The Moon Palace is close to the airport so if you are wanting to venture to the Hotel Zone it is quite a trek. The food was good, many options. The rooms were very nice and we called room service multiple times to stock our fridge with beer and they were prompt. We tried to order room service one day but after it being 1.5 hours late we just left and went to the buffet. They did say they were having problems that day with room service. The gift shop is very expensive. Since we were there with a cooperation we did not receive the room credits so I don't have an opinion on those. The entertainment to me was great! The clubs were also nice if that is your thing. Overall I would return here because the staff and service were so good. My husband and I travel quite a bit and this exceeded any service I have had at more expensive resorts. I wouldn't come here if my ideal day was to lie on the beach but the pool was awesome and my husband and I love that about equally. If going in a group I would book all the rooms together so I didn't have to worry about being in separate buildings. I would definitely take my kids here as there were tons of activities and things for them to do. Read less
