TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We have a great time whenever come down here. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We love it here, this is our 3rd visit and get treated like kings. I'd like to give a shout out to following... Read more staff that help made our vacation special. Nico (MC and Pool Area), Valerie (Pool area), Julio and Jesus staff in Bugabillo's restaurant, and the attendants on the flo rider who helped our special needs child with riding the wake board. Nico was always willing to talk with our family, engage our children, took photos with our daughter's and even took the time to make a balloon flower that made our child feel extra special. Julio took extra care of our family at the restaurant. He would help to get our breakfast for our special needs children, and folded a paper heart out of a dollar bill. Jesus the Omelette maker has a super positive attitude and makes a great breakfast. I can't say enough about this vacation resort. We get treated like kings down here. Come see for yourself. We stayed at the Moon Palace from July 28th- August 4th. We were traveling with 4 teenagers (18 years old) and 3 adults. Check-in took a couple of hours as it always does but that is because there... Read more was a problem with our room. We requested an ocean view room and they gave us a room facing the woods and it seemed like forever before they could find us a room that we liked. My advice to first timers is while they get your room ready don’t sit in the room with them. Go to the bar and get a drink or walk on the beach, the time goes by much faster. Another piece of advice if it is your first time, if you do not plan on spending a lot of money DO NOT let them talk you into a timeshare. We have been going to Moon Palace for almost 10 years and the first time we went we got suckered into buying a $70,000 timeshare. It does give you some perks (exclusive sections on the beach, personal golf carts, discounts, ect.) but it may be over some peoples price limit. And even if it is over what you can afford, trust me, they will convince you to buy it anyway so don’t even bother going to the meeting. The employees are mostly friendly but they do have their share of rude workers. Most of the bartenders and staff were very friendly but some of the staff members were rude. The bartenders, especially the ones who knew us, always greeted us with smiles and handshakes. The rooms were stunning as always. Moon Palace is broken into 3 sections: the Grand, Nizuc, and sunrise. The Grand is the newest section and in my opinion has the nicest rooms. We stay in the presidential suites, which come with a full kitchen, living room, two bedroom, four beds, Wi-Fi, three bathrooms, two Jacuzzis, and a private pool in the backyard. It is truly luxurious and will blow your mind the first time you stay in one. We have visited some of the other Palace Resorts in Mexico and they are also very nice. Although the other resorts are not as big as Moon Palace most of the beaches are nicer. Moon Palace is the best choice for younger people who always want something to do. The other resorts and more laidback and all about relaxing and do not offer as many activities. Another great thing about this resort is the 24-hour room service. If you weren’t aware all of the Palace resorts are all inclusive, which means all of the food and drinks are FREE! So if you’re laying in bed at 2am and craving a burger and cheesecake just get on the phone and order some room service. The room service food is pretty good but nothing compared to the food at the restaurants. The resort has restaurants of every nationality. But some of them like the Oriental, Italian, and Mexican often have a very long wait. A little secret that we learned is you can call the restaurant a couple hours in advance and make a reservation and when it’s time to eat you can just walk right past the line and sit down. If you have looked at pictures of the resort the first thing you will notice is the number of pools. There are somewhere around 10-12 pools on the resort and most of them have swim up bars. The pools are cleaned constantly through out the day and it shows. Some resorts I have been to have gross pools that you barley want to get into but at Moon palace most of them are as clean as can be. We have vacationed there during all of the seasons and a word of advice is if you are going during the winter months don’t expect to be comfortable in the pools. We went in February and the pools were FREEZING. And in contrast we have also gone in July and some of the pools were way too warm, almost making you think someone peed where you were swimming. Overall Moon Palace has always been very welcoming and we look forward to going every year. It is well worth the money (which can be up to $500 a person per day), which may seem like a lot to some people but to me it’s worth every penny to stay in paradise for a week. Read less
This hotel is amazing! It has everything that you want in a hotel, good food, lots of stuff to do and free credit! You get free resort credit for how long you stay at the resort so if you stayed... Read more there for 1 week you get 1,500 dollars! They have lots of things to do like zip wires and waterslides I recommend Xplor brilliant. Back to the resort though it is a massive place and you can get golf buggies so you don't have to walk around and you can get a bus ride to nizuc, sunrise or the grand. Food is amazing at this place they have plenty of restaurants to choose from i there is 15. The entertainment team are full of energy and make you stand up and start dancing to the Mexican music! The activities here are the flow rider the pools and the new waterslides! The Not so good thing is the beach ,they try to make the most of it but it is full of seaweed but if you don't like it you can always go to the beach palace hotel. Overall this is a amazing resort and will be coming back for our 3rd time! I recommended you to go! Read less
We enjoyed another excellent vacation at Mooon Palace this March. Our romantic dinner on the beach was a highlight. Thanks to our waiters, Edwin Isau and Ilvis Edzna for their fabulous service. Our... Read more drinks were always full! We are very pleased with the room updates in the Nizuc buildings. Our suggestion for further improving the rooms would be to upgrade the mattresses. The top shelf cocktails at the sky bar were delicious. The wine throughout the resort, however, is just not good, even if you upgrade. The food, overall, is top notch. The nacho cheese was weirdly watered down this year :( Our favorite restaurant is Barracuda. The steaks there are always very good, and we love the casual, outdoor setting. As always, being served breakfast in Moon Grand Caribeno, by our favorite, most handsome waiter, Jorge Dominguez, is one of the best parts of our time there! He makes us feel very welcome and well taken care of. Read less
We visited Moon Palace at the end of March 2015. We were intending on going to Moon Palace Jamaica, but its opening was delayed. We were returning to Moon Palace for about the fifth time. As always... Read more , it was great. There were three families in our group. They all received our diamond bracelets, as they were traveling with us. The guys went golfing one time. All of the adults had spa appointments. I did parasailing right off shore for the first time in my life. It was a fun experience and to be able to see the resort and hotel zone from the sky. Some of the party went to swim with the dolphins one day with resort credits. The Tulum tour, as always, was a fun trip. One day some of the party went to Xplor and the others went to Xel-Ha. We both enjoyed our day (I will write a review about Xplor). The last two days we hired a driver to taken us around in his passenger van. All twelve of us fit in just fine. The first day we visited Playacar Palace and on the second day we visited Beach Palace. During the morning of the second day we had a Paradise Adventure tour that left from the hotel zone (more about that in another review). We had rooms in the Grand section. This is our preferred section, as it is quieter and the rooms are larger. For the most part, we would walk to the other sections to get exercise, unless we were in a hurry. Every night we tried a different restaurant. They were all great. The two at the golf course (Trattoria and the new Mayan restaurant) were perhaps our favorites. The weather was very nice during our trip. It rained just one day out of the seven. Even thought the hotel was close to full occupancy, it didn't seem crowded. The service was excellent and the food was great. We love always coming to Moon Palace. Read less
