TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Stunning location with over 2 miles of private beach. More than 10 restaurants in the complex including Chinese, Mexican and Italian style buffet. Our favourite was the Argentinian, meat on skewers... Read more , all you can eat restaurant. The service is second to none and all the hotel staff, from the cleaners on the beach to the hotel management were friendly, helpful and very conscientious. The complex incorporates 3 hotels suitable for couples and families alike. Their is an 27 hole golf course in the grounds and the rates to play including equipment hire are very reasonable. The holiday experience was sensational, you have the use of all the Palace resorts hotels in and around Cancun. There is always somewhere to eat, drink and relax, 24 hours a day. The beaches were soft white sand and despite being a large hotel complex you always feel that you are on a quiet secluded beach. All inclusive means exactly that, unbelievable value for money. My husband and I traveled to Moon Palace for our honeymoon. It was our first international trip and our first stay at an all-inclusive resort and I am so thankful we went to Moon Palace! We were... Read more blown away by the friendly staff, beautiful room, assortment of restaurants, pool space, the list goes on! We stayed in the Nizuc section, Bugambilia building, room 6107 -- amazing view of the ocean, and the pool and beach were both only steps away. We loved being in Nizuc, too -- right in the middle of the resort. We walked along the beach to the Sunrise and Grand sections for dinner at night. The only difference in buildings/sections we noticed were that Nizuc had plastic patio furniture, Grand had hammocks and Sunrise had newer stuff. It's not a big thing, though. I still enjoyed reading on our patio with plastic furniture. (Also - I was stressing about what section we'd end up in prior to our trip. DON'T STRESS! They're all great. Grand seemed a bit quieter, Nizuc was mixed with couples and families, Sunrise was hopping with couples and families, too -- and it's pool section seemed to have just a few more kid-friendly options. Grand is the only section without a kiddo pool area. But, again, no big deal. You can walk -- or get on the lobby-to-lobby shuttle -- to other sections for different pools, restaurants, etc.) FOOD: If you read a review saying the food is bad or there aren't options, just ignore it! There are over 10 restaurants, a handful of huts that serve food near the pools, snack stands and room service. You will not be hungry or not be able to find something you like! We ate at the same restaurant (Arrecifes near the lobby of Nizuc) almost every morning -- because the waitstaff was the best AND the buffet changed daily. The omelet stand and smoothie stand were my favorite while the hubby loved the variety: his favorites (bacon, eggs, french toast, pancakes, yogurt) and international options of new food to try. For lunch we mixed it up -- either eating at a hut near the pool or going back to the Arrecifes Restaurant. Plenty of options! Salad, fruit, cold cuts for the lighter eater OR burgers, international options and heavier stuff to fill up the big eater. If you go to Arrecifes, the lovely and oh-so-sweet Lurdez (Malu) Valencia will greet you. Ask her to sit with Mardo Sous, Efraid Itza or Carlos Uc. We rotated between sitting in each of these server's sections. It's so nice to see a familiar face and, by the end of the week, they know about you -- including your favorite foods and drinks. AMAZING GROUP OF WAITSTAFF!! For dinner, we took the list of restaurants and tried something new each night. You will not be disappointed with the food. DRINKS: There are water bottles everywhere, so don't stress. Stocked fridge (water, soda, beer, liquor) in your room, too. And if you're looking for alcohol, there are so many options! My hubby loved the local beer; I told our servers that I liked rum and they'd mix up concoctions accordingly. RANDOM NOTES: 1) I was very overwhelmed when we first arrived -- I wanted to make sure we did enough but didn't know what was all available. We met with the guest services group, they gave us options; we booked a few of the things we knew we wanted to do (spa, golf) right away but then we went back on day two to book the rest. Don't be afraid to tell guest services you need some time to think about activities. 2) My husband golfs. I don't. Not wanting him to miss out on the great course, we asked if I could be a rider. Yupp! You pay a small fee and you're good to go. We got in the tee off line behind a super friendly couple from Canada and they and my hubby ended up golfing together; I snapped pictures and sipped drinks in the cart. Great course. Beautiful. 3) We chose not to do a lot of activities / excursions but still had a great trip! From sitting on the beach, soaking up sun by the pool, mini golfing, reading, walking around, swimming, golfing, there's plenty to do ON the resort. 4) Some folks complain about the seaweed at Moon Palace's beach... it's no big deal. There's sand. There's sunshine. There are beach chairs. There's waitstaff. And there are PLENTY of super clean pools just steps away for swimming. If you want a nice beach, take the FREE shuttle to Beach Palace for an afternoon. The water is gorgeous -- we wave hopped and walked in the water, but after a few hours, we were ready to go back to Moon Palace. 5) Enjoy every moment. Be kind to the staff. They travel far to get to work. 6) My only complaint is that we had to leave! Ha. Actually, we had a super early (4 a.m.) departure time and the front desk person was tucked away. We got nervous for a bit (the thought of missing our shuttle to the airport) but there were two cleaning folks in the lobby who tracked the front desk person down. Throughout our trip, there were staff members everywhere so we thought it was odd that it was hard to find someone when we had to go. No big deal. Great resort. We're hoping to go back next winter!
