We stayed in August 2013 and August 16 to 22, 2014. Moon Palace does not disappoint. Stayed in Nizuc. Last year Room 6211. This year 6216. Perfect location! Thank you Moon Palace for honoring... Read more the several requests for a room in Nizuc by the pool. This resort is amazing! Beautiful! Please tip everyone. They work so hard. They do not expect tips. They will still serve you without expecting anything. But it was hard to watch people walk away without leaving not even a dollar. The workers do not make a lot. Please have a heart. All the restaurants are very good. If you go early, around 7:00, no wait time. But even if you need to wait, have a drink. You are on vacation. I will tell you, if you arrive around 8:45 to Brazillian steakhouse or Los Corporales or MoMo, you will have an hour and a half wait. People who complain about the food, are just complainers. Food is very good. We visited Beach Palace two days in a row. We had so much fun. Beautiful water there. My kids (21 and 15) loved the parasailing at that location also located on the beach. You need to take advantage of this. Bus leaves Moon Palace at 12:00 and 2:00. We had plenty of time there. Breakfast and lunch at Manglar was very good. Darlina makes a great omelette. And always with a smile. I need to mention some terrific/outstanding people in the Nizuc section. Victor Toledo and Macedonio Julub at Manglar buffet, thank you for taking care of the four of us. And you remembered us from last year! Thank you for carrying our plates to the table. You both are wonderful waiters! So attentive every time we came in. Perfection! We never wanted to be anywhere else for breakfast. You made us feel at home. Victor remembered from a year ago that I love to eat apples with peanut butter. Amazing memory, Victor. Thanks for giving me the plastic cups so I could bring the natural yogurt to my room for afternoon snacks! Delicious natural yogurt there. Mardo Solis and Efrainitza were wonderful and friendly. It's because of people like you that make us feel welcome there and makes us want to come back again and again. Service was impeccable. I would hope Moon Palace managers truly appreciate your hard work. They are lucky to have you. Marguerita (manager at Los Corporales) thank you for lending me your reading glasses! Listening about your granddaughters was wonderful. Gaspar at Los Corporales, wonderful waiter and so happy. Best lamb in that restaurant. We enjoyed our meal, and Gaspar explained everything. He makes the best guacamole ever! To die for! He is a hard worker. Rosa, maid of Room 6216, thank you! Guadalupe "Lupe" best bartender in Nizuc pool near sliding board. Hard worker, indeed. I do not know the other bartenders' names but they truly tend to you at that bar. I watched Guadalupe make a tower of ten drinks the other day. Amazing! Carlos, pool waiter, makes beautiful artwork with leaves. Wonderful service. We went dolphin swimming the other day and had fun. The Michael Jackson show on Wednesday night at Sunrise was great. Met a family at the pool earlier in the day from England, I believe. The son, Stephen, was part of the dance off during the show. Go see it. Pretty good show. Lots of laughing with the emcee and dance off. This resort is wonderful! We will be back again! Read less
This was our second year visiting Moon Palace. We booked for this year as soon as we left in 2013 because it was so amazing. We had a fantastic time again this year although there were certain... Read more differences which were disappointing - having to pay for wine that last year was included (White Zinfandel Rose wine). Having Malibu delivered to our room last year as I don't drink any other spirits and being told this year that I wasn't a high enough level guest so wasn't entitled to it. Our room was in the Sunrise section which suited us perfectly. Our boys, aged 17 and 14 loved every second of the holiday and we hardly saw them. They made many friends from UK and the US and we were very comfortable to give them freedom as it is a safe resort. The pool at Sunrise turned all of our swimwear orange and when we reported this to Customer Services they said it was the only complaint they had had about this problem. We know for a fact that there were many more as we had not only seen others in marked swimwear, we spoke to other guests experiencing the same problem. We were travelling with 3 other families and all of our swimwear was ruined. Laundry could not remove the stains so we were offered a very small amount off our bill which doesn't touch the amount we spent on swimwear that is now in the bin!! I recommend dark coloured swimwear! The restaurants are all 5* in my opinion. The food was exceptional and the waiting staff were a credit to Moon Palace. We didn't have a problem with wait times for meals (the longest wait we had was 45 mins which is perfect to give you time for pre-dinner drinks). The only problem we did experience on a nightly basis was getting a table for 12 people. Each time we asked and each time we were told no problem and sent away with our buzzer - but once called for our table we were given 2 tables of 6 and most of the time the tables were on different sides of the restaurant. For a hotel of this size this really is unacceptable. If we had had different coloured wrist bands on then this wouldn't have been an issue!!!! Our room was nice but not 5*. The majority of our 2 week stay there was work being carried out in our corridor which was quite messy and lots of workmen during the day. The rooms should have bigger beds than standard doubles as they are too small but they are very comfortable and the pillows are great! The jacuzzis are a waste of valuable space which would be better used for more storage as the rooms are lacking in this. The spa was wonderful and my husband and boys played golf several times which they loved. The golf course pool area is a relaxing place to spend a lazy afternoon and the lunches especially 'the hole in one' burger are fantastic. We will be returning in August 2015 and just hope that standards do not drop and maybe a few of the issues I've raised will have been resolved. Read less
We have been to Moon Palace a number of times, and just came back from another amazing week. We are Diamond Elite members, and have stayed at many of the Palace and Hard Rock properties. People... Read more often asked which is best. The answer is all are amazing. Your choice on which really depends upon what size resort your want (small, medium, or large), whether you want adults only vs. kids, and attributes around the beach, local town, etc. Moon Palace is a large, family oriented resort, completely isolated. Its beach is ok (great for walking, but sea weedy for swimming). Because its a large resort, it offers an enormous number of dining options, bar options, pool options, and activity options. Even though large, you can find areas that are quiet or active. We always stay at Moon Palace Grand, which tends to be on the quieter side. What is consistently spectacular about the palace resorts, is their fabulous service. Everyone consistently greets you with the smile. Every request is always attended too promptly. Also consistent is the great food and drink. They also keep adding things (new Irish pub for instance, is quite nice). I have left longer reviews in the past, so please feel to read those. I wrote this to just declare, all remains spectacular at Moon Palace! While everyone we met were truly great in service, there are a few folks who were particularly memorable. Ariana Vicino was our Diamond Concierge. She attended to our every need prior to our arrival, upon check in, during our visit, and after. She was the most organized person I have ever met. All our activities were color coded. It was the quickest and easiest check in ever, and all our week's events went flawlessly. Ariana is simply amazing. Miguel at the MP Grand, Olympic pool bar was terrific. He remembers us each time we come, and has our regular drinks ready by the time we swim up. We ate a different restaurant every night, all were terrific. A shout out to Edilicio at Corporales, who took amazing care of us. We also enjoyed the new Mayan restaurant at the golf course. Mouises was our waiter, and Victoria & Miguel the managers. All terrific, and an amazing Mayan coffee. Several other mentions. Hector at the MPG bell station, Rosa from Palace Vacation Planners, and as always, Gina Pineda who always checks in on us, even though she works at Beach Palace. I do always like to give a couple of improvement ideas... 1) the Mayan restaurant needs a redecoration. Feels just like trattoria and ambiance is part of the experience. I suspect this in the the works. 2) in the resort map and other listings, restaurant Delfines is listed as having a "Thai" menu. No one there new of that, and they were quite confused. 3) consider giving golf carts to those staying in presidential suites, would be a nice option. If you want an awesome vacation, please consider the moon palace. "Its a pleasure" Read less
