TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This is the first time we have travelled anywhere in Mexico, and we were VERY VERY impressed!!! This resort is spectacular!! You will not go wrong with staying here, its great for all ages! From... Read more what we could see the resort is fully wheelchair accessible, the food is fantastic as well as the service!! We stayed in room 3209, which is the third floor, the rooms were spacious for a couple. The facility and rooms were very clean. They supply CHI bath products and blow dryers and flat irons. the restaurants and bars did not disappoint!! I'm happy to say that we will stay here again and recommend to family and friends!! The room credits are great but you will end up paying your 16% tax on all services and items, if your going to golf more then three times then I'd suggest using the room credits and not getting unlimited golf. If golfing 3+ times then get unlimited golf with your tour provider! Also spa was amazing!! Cheers!! Read less
This resort is big, at first I thought it was too big but you get use to it. All the facilities I could want and more we're there. Food and service was great. Best restaurant was the Mexican in... Read more Nizuc, Los carpolas, then the Brazilian. Food and service there was great. A must is the Mayan coffee, good to watch them make it at your table a fire show!!!! The coffee places were a great find too, had lots of choices for snacks and all included. Not a place if your watching your weight!!! Lots to do, plenty of space and choice, great decoration throughout. Lovely grounds, I loved it. Read less
Stayed at the resort from Jan 23 to Jan 30. We stayed on the Grand Side and loved it. Room was nicely laid out and was huge and well appointed. Had a 4 bottle liquor dispenser and had a good... Read more selection of beer and pop. Mini fridge was constantly stocked each day with Corona, Budweiser, Bud Light, Pepsi, Coke, Sprite and 7-up. If you put a small tip in the fridge each day you would always get what you asked for and filled to capacity! There was a huge 2 person jacuzzi in the room which worked well and the bathroom came with complimentary CHI hair products as well as a CHI hair straightener. I loved the rainfall shower head. Flat screen TV worked well and with the satellite TV had some good options for English channels. In room safe was easy to use and spacious enough to fit a 17 inch laptop. Full pillow menu was great and the Concierge was always available when we called. Lobby of the Grand Side is tad disappointing but is only temporary while the permanent one is being built. There was construction going on which could be heard from our balcony and some of pool areas on the Grand Side but really wasn't too bad and the quit working around 5 each day. I liked waking up having my morning coffee and watching them work on the new lobby and casino. Grounds: Well kept and were beautiful. There are a few cats roaming around but nothing to get all worked up about. My wife loves cats and many of them are very friendly. There were also a few Coati running around which we fed and are cool to watch in the evening. Pools: Was always able to find a lounger no matter the time of time day in all areas of the resort. Resort is huge and spread out which is probably why. We did not find the temperature of the water to be too cold. Beach: The Beach front is long, and I mean long. Plenty of open loungers no matter the time of day. Yes there is a bit of seaweed but it is cleaned up all day long. The Grand Beach is the best and is kept up better than the rest. If you love long walks then you will love it. You can walk the resort beach and walk even further past the resort forever past the Grand Beach heading South. It is clean all the way down for kilometers. To be honest, some of the cleanest beach and water isn't even on the actual resort it's beside the resort! I highly recommend walking off the resort beach. Bars: Soo many bars!!! We did not find any of them crowded no matter the time of day. Had a great selection of top-shelf brands only thing missing was my Appletons. Restaurants: Can not saying anything bad about the restaurants. They weren't horrible but weren't spectacular either. Depending on the time you went some of them had a little bit of wait time to get into but nothing to get in a huff about. Waiting 15 minutes while on vacation is nothing to get worked up over. I loved the fact that all but 2 restaurants did not require any reservations. Something that sticks out while we were there, not once were we approached by anyone offering time-shares....not once!!!! I will say this, the resort is huge! The buses that transfer you from lobby to lobby run all day and are air conditioned and run quite frequently. We used the buses a few times but found that once you got your bearings, walking from one end of the resort to the other wasn't really that bad. If you follow the covered walks and follow where the ramps lead you can get around quickly. One morning we decided to walk to Nizuc for breakfast and passed right by the Grand Lobby pick-up point for the bus and when we reached the buffet in Nizuc I noticed that the couple right in front of us was one of the couples that had been waiting in line for bus when we left. We would definitely go back!! Read less
We have just returned from at week at the Moon Palace Cancun. There is much to recommend about this all inclusive resort. First on the list is the people who work there. They are all very... Read more friendly, courteous, and helpful, especially the staff that work in all the restaurants. If you breakfast in the “Buganbilias†in the Sunrise, you will most likely meet Jesus (Chucho) who makes the best eggs and omelets. He is always happy and smiling and extremely friendly. He will make your day start off right. Of note in that same restaurant is the very good waiter Luis (a big soccer fan) and overseeing the restaurant is Raquel, who is most thoughtful and attentive, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion. Two of our favorite restaurants were La Trattoria (at which you need reservations) and La Gondola. Our waiter at La Trattoria was Eleodoro and he gave us excellent service. We frequented La Gondola often and ALL the staff was excellent. In the evening at La Gondola the “pièce de résistance†is the piano player Béla Duka. You will not find a more talented and friendly pianist anywhere. The staff, accommodations, food, and cleanliness leave nothing to be desired. Their computer system, however, does. There does not seem to be good networking between systems and it often causes confusion and a waste of your vacation time. You often have to go to several different people to get a question answered or problem solved. Also the “resort credit†that is offered is not as attractive as they would have you think. There are many limits to it (at the spa, the store, etc.). The prices are greatly inflated (2 to 3 times the actual value) to begin with and with the 16% tax added that you must pay, you are not getting any bargain. Don’t let the “resort credit†be the deciding factor to choosing the Moon Palace, but we do recommend you go and enjoy the good food, warm weather, and warm people. Read less
