For a vacation, I value some place quiet. Our garden view room overlooked the pool and was on the ground level right by the Nizuc lobby - that means our room had lots of outside noise. If I could have picked my room's location, I would have stayed on the Grand side. Restaurants were very loud during the dinner rush - it was hard to talk with the people at our table. As someone who enjoys good food, the food here was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better. When trying to book trips to use our resort credit, it was difficult to find options at times that weren't already booked up. We ended up making it work, but we didn't get to do what we would have liked. If you like sitting by the pool drinking margaritas, then you'll probably enjoy Moon Palace. Read less

Will start with the positive points: resort is very nice. Pools are large and well maintained, and the food is very good - especially the Brazilian restaurant. The rooms, though not huge, are nice... Read more and the beds are comfortable. That said, there are several obvious and irritating issues with this resort. First, NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH. How is this possible? I have traveled all over the world and this is never a problem. Especially given this is a resort for tourists. It is extremely difficult getting an answer to anything at this resort. Second, check in was a disaster. Three hour wait - missing reservations, wrong reservations and none of our requests were honored. We were two families traveling together. I requested one room with two double beds and the family we were traveling with requested two adjoining rooms. Despite the fact that the staff was plentiful, clearly no one knew what they were doing. The reservation for our family friends was nowhere. Our reservation was wrong and we ended up with one king bed. We requested rooms near one another - what we ended up with were rooms that could not be farther apart. Three hours checking in. Unacceptable. Next, we were given wrong information about tracking down the person who was reserving our shuttle back to the airport. We were told to find our representative between 9:30am and 11am the day after we arrived. We went looking for him during the aforementioned hours many times, and he was never there. The $750 resort credit is A JOKE. Completely useless!!! It is only for certain, very specific items and you need to spend a certain amount before you can use the resort credit. And even that has a limit and is taxed 16%. The prices for the items you can use the credit for were all jacked up to account for the credit. And even finding someone who had a clue about the credit and what is can be used for took two days. Straws - why do guests have to BEG FOR STRAWS. This is normal - you order a drink, you get a straw. Not here - they NEVER give one and it is an inconvenience when you request it. Never seen anything like this. Restaurants were an efficiency disaster. One person grilling raw food while a line grows and grows. This is at every restaurant and the outside grills. There was a brick oven pizza line - 45 minutes for a pizza. It is a 20 minute wait (AT LEAST) just to get a burger or a hot dog. The restaurant experience is just a disaster. This is Mexico, you would think guacamole would be everywhere. Nope. They hide it - you must ask for it. Overall, these things were irritating so not sure I would return to this resort. The service leaves much to be desired. Read less

Read more The most amazing holiday I've had!! Beautiful resort and I would go back in a heartbeat!! The Package... We went through Virgin Holidays.. I wouldn't travel with anyone else! It was expensive but with everything we had included (flight upgrades, Virgin lounge passes, and all inc resort) it was worth every penny!! Brilliant Virgin lounge crew at Gatwick and amazing flight crew going to cancun and coming home!! The resort .... Friendly staff, beautiful rooms (jacuzzi bath, comfortable beds, great view), amazing restaurants and bars... The Mexican restaurant is amazing by far my favourite, and the breakfast buffet is to die for! Beautiful pools and of course you are right on the beach. I see people complaining about the seaweed on the beach, unfortunately the hotel cannot control nature so I don't think it's fair to judge them on this, however they did have a tractor going up and down all day long trying to clear the seaweed!! The place is huge and there is so much to do! The spa was wonderful , lovely massage very relaxing! We stayed at Nizuc and loved it, we went over yo sunrise for one day but I think we were more comfortable at Nizuc, it was just our comfort zone!! The pool at Nizuc is gorgeous and very cleverly split into 3! The kids end (for families) kids slide etc, then the middle more lively part where pool volleyball and other activities took place as well as pool entertainment and music DJ. We stayed at the quieter end of the pool everyday, more mature adults and couples.. And we made some really lovely friends! (Americans loved our London accent). Most of all my favourite pool bar waiter Miguel Adolfo Nuñez ... (Nizuc pool) He is by far the best waiter ... His attention to detail and his kind nature shone through every day. Nothing was too much for him, and before I could even finish a drink he would have another one ready for me! His focus was to please us guests and out of the 6-8 couples we met around the pool every one of us loved Miguel!! It was my friends birthday on Monday and Miguel remembered, once we had lunch, he came over with all off the bar staff to our sun beds with a cake for her and got everyone round the pool singing happy birthday!! Miguel is amazing and a massive credit to the hotel with a wonderful attitude and smiling everyday!! He honestly made my experience very pleasant and he deserves a reward!! Highly recommended to anyone wanting a nice relaxed all inc holiday... The hotel is away from central cancun which was lovely for us as we didn't want to party, we went to relax, and we didn't leave the complex all week!! Bars and restaurants were enough for us! Thank you Mexico, thank you Moon Palace, and thank you Miguel!! Read less

First class service from the time you pull up to the curb! Being greeted with fresh chilled moist towels was a very nice touch after a hot, long day of travelling. Would like to see a different... Read more check in procedure. This is always chaotic and somewhat unorganized. This process seems to take 1/2 day. Waste of my vacation time! ( I am in hopes that Mon Palace reads this) Once through this process, the rest of the service is absolutely first class! The Playroom for kids was awesome! My six year old daughter went one day at 11:00am and we could not peel her out of there! She played games, watched movies, drove crazy carts, climbed through giant playlets, had meals, and even had her hair was beautiful! The girls that work there are fantastic! The " Behind the Scenes Tour " was amazing! Carla, our tour guide was great and so full of energy. It is amazing how everything happens around Moon Palace to make great experiences, take care of their employees, help wildlife, and reduce the facility's carbon footprint. The Michael Jackson show on Wednesday nights is second to none! Great vacation!...we've been here 10 times! Read less
