I want to thank them for looking after him and doing activities etc with him he loved it. we were in the nizuc building in the flamenco block which was a good location for the lobby and resturants. theres not much more i can say apart from it was a fantastic holiday yet again. Just returned from a family vacation at Moon Palace. While it is a very large resort, it was very easy to get around, and the was always something fun to do. The pools are grounds were very well... Read more maintained. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a great view of the ocean and the pool area. The kids Playroom was a dream come true for our kids, ther was so much for them to do! One of the highlights of our trip was the manager of the bar at The Sunrise lobby, Eliseo. Every night, the bar was packed because of the nightly entertainment, but we were always able to find a place to sit, and never had trouble getting a drink. Eliseo would walk around and check with the guests to make sure they had what they needed, he was very attentive and keeps everything moving smoothly. He always made our group feel special. Besides our Disney Cruise 10 years ago, our trip to Moon Palace was the 1st All Inclusive Resort. I'm afraid our future all inclusive trips have big shoes to fill. We went as guests of members, so... Read more had access to most of their benefits when booking. Our flight was uneventful, well except getting my cans of sunblock confiscated. (I forgot they were in the bag we shoved into the carry on.) Going through customs was a breeze. Head straight outside without stopping for the dozens of transfer company agents. Note who your transfer company is on your confirmation. Ours was out the doors, and to the right, 2nd from the end. Do not pay for anything here! Once they get a count of heads and luggages, you will wait for a van to take you to Moon Palace. It's a 15 minute ride.Tip your driver. Moon Palace has 3 different lobbies. Sunrise, Nizuc, and Grand. The week we were there, Grand was still under construction so their guests went to the other buildings to eat and hang out at the pool. We booked with Nizuc. We were greeted with flowers for the females and cool towels for everyone. This is where it may differ for others. Because we were guests of members, we were whisked upstairs to their VIP area. The lobby smells amazing! Still can't figure out what the scent was. While we were seated on comfy couches and sipping drinks, one person checked us in. Another very pleasant person, Claudia walked us through what was available to us for our stay. After getting our wristbands and 30 mins, we were ready to go to our rooms. We found our bell boy and he led us to our room. We had room 7008 in the Dolphin building. It had a view of the garden and the sea beyond it. It was a short walk to the lobby and the pool. The bell boy was tipped for all the luggage and golf bags. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us but we are not big drinkers so the bottle stayed full the whole week. The room was nice sized but the 2 double beds really were perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. The beds were very comfortable but a little on the soft side for our taste. In the room was a jacuzzi tub, big flat screen tv hanging on the wall, beneath it was a console with 6 drawers, a roll out liquor caddy, and the small fridge loaded with water, soda and beer. There is a coffee maker on top of the console. The wash sink is outside the bathroom. There is a Chi blow dryer and straightener in the drawer so need to pack yours. There is a phone in the bathroom, not sure why. There is a glass door that opens into the shower. The shower head is the rain shower type with lot of pressure. Really loved the shower head. There are plenty of towels in the bathroom and a few on the jacuzzi tub. The closet just inside the room door has some hangers, iron and board and a safe. Our balcony was just big enough for 2 chairs and a small wicker table. Just as we were getting settled, we received a bottle of champagne from Claudia. More liquor untouched. Honestly there was so much to eat and drink we just never got around to it. But appreciated the sweet gesture. We went for lunch just as they were closing the buffet in El Manglar. This is the restaurant we frequented the most, just because it was in the lobby and you couldn't go wrong with the variety of food. (Thank you Alejandro for taking such great care of us!) We really enjoyed the breakfast omelet station, green juice, pasta station and fried plantains. It started raining while we dined and still was when we finished. So we headed back to our room to rest. For dinner, we headed out to the pool and dined at Pelicanos close to the stage. They had the "Tenors" performing that evening. Think Il Divo but three younger, Latin men. They were quite good!! Tuesday was our first day at the pool. You really have to get out there early to get a good chair because by 11, they were hard to find. A lot of people go out early, leave something on the chair and go back to it later. But I wouldn't leave it too long, the people a few chairs down from us got their towels and their belongings taken away while I was napping. My family stayed busy playing on the giant chess set, basketball in the pool, and vball on the beach. The entertainment staff do a spectacular job of keeping everyone entertained. (A shout out to Raoul! He really is good at what he does. He's a keeper.) There are lots of staff to get drinks and food for you too. Just remember to tip them and they will make sure to check back on you frequently. We ordered room service 4 times. Don't judge, it is open 24 hours. Just remember to call them to come pick up your plates outside the door. Otherwise the raccoons or cats will play with the leftovers and plates, making a lot of noise. I made reservations at the Italian restaurant La Tattoria at the Golf/Spa area because we were told it was really good. Not all the restaurants require a reservation or long pants for men. Check to make sure because they turned away an older gentleman with shorts on leaning on a cane. The plates were small portions and slow service. The filet and chicken were both dry. I ended up cancelling the other reservation. We did enjoy Momo (at Sunrise) but opted to have sit down and ordered off the menu instead of the hibachi. My husband loved the Brazilian Steak restaurant, Arrecifes. We did take a Palace bus to Beach Palace to do some shopping in Cancun. They have a bus that visits each lobby and then out to Beach Palace around noon every day and comes back around 5pm. At the Beach Palace desk, we got exact change for the bus (they do not give you change) to and from shopping. If you are mall shopping there is one very close to Beach Palace that's walking distance. We went to Supermarket Select (like a WalMart but nicer) to purchase more sun block and Retin A for a friend. We also stopped at another store to get souvenirs and sterling silver jewelry. Hold onto your receipt, make time to find the stores' booths at the airport before you leave to get some of your taxes back. We got back to Beach Palace in plenty of time to have lunch and rest. The view out of the restaurant to the beach is breath taking. Just beautiful. Other than our excursion out to Cancun, we did one tour, the Dolphin Discovery. It was an hour of swimming with 2 dolphins in an aquarium setting. It was very exciting to do but they do not allow cameras. They have their paparazzi taking pictures during your tour. You have to learn how to haggle if you want to purchase the pictures. One picture with one person started at $40. We decided not to purchase after they told us it would be $280 for a cd of 180 pictures. The quality was just ok. Take a set of dry clothes to change into after your swim. Do some research and find another company that does the dolphin swim in the sea. My husband went golfing 2x during the week. He said the courses were ok. Beware of the coati (they look like raccoons with long noses). They will go right into your zippered bags and steal anything. Food, cell phones, jewelry.. Our package included a 25 min massage, pedi and mani. I took them all at the spa by the golf course. The preparation for the massage was heavenly. They put you in a sauna, steam room and cold shower before you get your massage. We did get 2 tickets to the Toto concert while we were there. It included dinner which is eh (one of the nights that we ordered room service). But Toto was great!! It was a nice venue. There is a nice workout room and we saw a lot of people using it, just not us. :) Our week really was quite wonderful and we would do it again without question. We even sat through the presentation on our last day. Up until that moment, we only saw the pleasure side of Moon Palace. Then we saw the business side. Wow, are they persistent!! They sure are good though. We opted not to become members and headed to get our $100 store credit. The worst experience of our whole trip, even over walking in 90 degree 100% humidity in Cancun getting water splashed at us. The problem was we had to wait in line to receive our credit. Which would've been fine if the other guests were not booking all their tours in the same line!!!!! They have other areas for that. We ended up standing in line for at least 30 minutes waiting for a piece of paper which was waiting for us at the desk. I would suggest they have a separate line for those. We wasted a half of the last day of our trip. TIPS: *Take lots of $ bills for tipping. The staff really work their butts off in making your trip very pleasureable. And they really do appreciate it too. We left $5 for our room person every day with a small request written in Spanish (thank goodness for Google translate). We got our entire fridge stocked with Coke items this way. She came back every time we were in the room to make sure we didn't need anything else and even turned down the bed and left chocolates. *Order Mayan coffee and get the camera ready. *Take a day and go out to Beach Plaza. *Book your tours as soon as possible, even online. *Pack medicines and extra sunscreen. They are not cheap in the resort store. *There is a currency exchange window but they will only give you pesos when they are open. The last agent at the front desk will give you US dollars but it is limited everyday. *Order the Miami Vice, nonalcoholic for the kids. Read less
Room was nice, but small. Staff and food were great, as always. Very disappointed at check in time. When making reservations by phone, we were told there were not presidential suites available. At... Read more check in, we asked if anything had changed and could we get a presidential. we were informed that there was a presidential available, but we would have to come back at 3 p.m. to check in to it. At 3 p.m., we were told that the party in the room decided to stay another week. Now who changes their mind on the last day to stay for another week??? (with all that's involved with work, flights, etc). I believe we were lied to. Other than that, the trip was good. we love all the restaurants Moon Palace has to offer. Read less
