TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This was my husband and I's first all inclusive and we normally only do one vacation like this a year. (last year was Puerto Rico) Just a little background so you know the perspective, we are 29/30... Read more years old and like to save money where possible. So here it is: We booked the golf course view villas for five days four nights. We did this because we were there to golf and we read that the resort was huge and thought it was a bonus to have our own personal golf cart. I called Moon Palace directly to make this reservation. I also paid $52 at this time for roundtrip transportation for us from the airport to the resort. When we got to Cancun, they didn't have us on their list. So, a small screw up on someones part there. I again agreed to pay $52 and asked them to just take us to Moon Palace. I need to call now and get back $52 as I was initially charged with reservation and again charged at checkout. When we did get to the resort, we were already tired. They greeted us with cold towels and a nice cold blue beverage. We checked in and then immediately whisked away by someone to try to get us to attend an hour and a half presentation the next morning to become members. We listened to his talk for about 5 minutes and then said we were tired and wanted to go to our room. We had a ride to our room which was nicely secluded from the rest of the resort. It was not busy at all. My husband then asked about our golf cart and the bell boy went to get the person in charge of that. He came back and told my husband that the golf cart are for guest who stay 7+ nights and they didn't have enough carts for all villa guest. However, there was a cart parked and plugged in in an assigned spot for every room, including ours. My husband had to complain a bit to get the golf cart that was advertised. (there was no mention of 7 days) It is also considered the slow season now and we only seen one other couple in our villa that holds 12, so there was plenty of carts. In addition to the cart, it was advertised that you would have a view of the course. We were on the first floor and only had a few of the "forest". My husband wanted to move as there was no one else in our villas when we checked in. However, I convinced him to just stay. These villas also included a whirlpool tub for two. I knew coming in from reading reviews that these took a while to fill up. So, I watched television for 30 minutes while ours filled. But, when I tried to turn it on, it didn't work! Super bummed. I called the front desk and they came to fix it the next day. However, I had gotten sun golfing that the whirlpool tub no longer sounded refreshing, so I never did get to try it out. Three other small problems were our TV would occasionally turn off on its own and the remote would also sometimes not work. Our last two nights there our ceiling fan didn't work and the shower door didn't close. It remained open about 4 inches. These are all minor, but they added the negatives of the trip. The biggest negative in my opinion is this. We traded in our resort credit to golf unlimited and only pay $29 each for the cart each time we were going to golf. We had really planned on golfing 4 times total. As I stated earlier, we like to save money where we can, so I called the resort before we left and asked if we could share a golf bag. I know that this is usually a no-no, but I decided to ask as it would save us $100 in baggage fees. I was told when I called "That is fine as long as you two are okay with it." So, we loaded up my husbands bag with my driver, putter and a few irons. Our first round of golfing this proved to be a problem. We were told we each need our own full sets. They worked it out our first day of golfing and brought us an empty bag to transfer my clubs to. So, we set up a tee time for the next day as they just check my borrowed golf bag for me. However, they required me to pay $53 to borrow clubs this day. I just did it so I didn't miss my tee time and said I would handle it when I checked out. We didn't golf anymore after this because we would have to pay $53 to rent clubs each time and we didn't know how the conversation was going to go at checkout. That was all of the negatives, but here are the positives: -The service was amazing! There were people to wait on you hand and foot and they genuinely didn't seem like it was a hassle. (unlike sometimes back home in the states) -We really enjoyed ALL of the food! Our favorite restaurant was Riviera Maya on the golf course! But again, we didn't have any complaints with the food!! -We did get the $53 removed for the clubs by the front desk at check-out. He listened to my complaints that I listed for you, made a copy of my list so they could use it as feedback. -GOLF- The course if beautiful! It was hard and we lost a lot of balls. We're not excellent golfers though. However, bring plenty of balls so you don't get stuck paying $50 for 36 used balls ;) Read less

My husband and I stayed in an ocean front room in Nizuc September 6th-10th and then on to Cozumel Palace for 3 nights. We are not palace members but decided to try out two different areas. We really... Read more enjoyed our stay at Moon Palace. We spent a majority of our time in our Nizuc section because we were perfectly happy there and it was tranquil and pretty empty. There were many times we had a pool to ourselves. We found September to be a fantastic time to visit because the resort was very empty. We never had to wait at any of the restaurants or bars. We were able to get next day golf tee time and spa appt no problem and same day reservations at the Italian restaurant at the golf course. We saw a lot of complaints before we came about crowds and long waits. We didn't have any if this and it was fantastic. The staff seemed bored because there was never many people in any of the restaurants. Yes what you've seen about the beach is true. Lots of seaweed. But it's still gorgeous to look at from the balcony and very relaxing. We did take the free shuttle to beach palace twice and really enjoyed the gorgeous turquoise water and playing in the waves. The service didn't seem to be as good at beach palace so we were definitely happy we were only there to visit. Highlights: Our ocean front room (6113) was wonderful. Every morning we woke up to a beautiful view. Turtle release - they released newborn baby turtles into the ocean 2 of the nights we were there. It was amazing and they were so adorable!! Swimming with whale sharks - we took a whale shark excursion with eco color tours. They did a fantastic job and were cheaper than the resort offered. This is an unbelievable experience that I would recommend to anyone! Quirogolf massage - awesome sports massage! The spa is wonderful and really relaxing. Wear your bathing suit because you can soak in the jacuzzi or get in the sauna or steam room after. We didn't use all of our resort credits and my recommendation is not to book a palace resort because you get them. We did use them for my husband to play golf and for a massage and for cigars. Otherwise it seemed only worth it for the excursions but we didn't really want to go and do any they offered. There are a lot of limits on the using the credits. Pretty annoying so we pretty much ignored them when we got to Cozumel Palace. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at Moon Palace. The grounds are beautiful everywhere you turn and the pools are so nice. We are just finishing our stay at Cozumel Palace and we think the food and service are better here. We would come back in September when it's not crowded. Read less

Will highly recommend to others as one of our favorite hotel experiences ever! I also have to mention that the spa was the best spa we have ever been to. Thanks Moon Palace Read less
My fiancé and I stayed here for 12 days in early September. I'm still learning to play golf whilst my other half plays off 11 so we decided to use the resort credit for unlimited golf. As other... Read more reviews will tell you, resort credit comes with a 16% tax. On the unlimited golf package, you still have to pay a cart fee each round (c.$26 pp) which works out at roughly around 16% but it's still a great deal and having played everyday it was certainly worth it! Quality of the golf was great. The courses are so well looked after it was a delight to play them. We were based in sunrise but spent every day at the pool in the golf and spa area due to the quality of service service and that it was a more quiet area away from the loud music and general entertainment area. The staff here are amazing and could not do enough for you. Emilio (#s7230) was in particular, outstanding and could not do anything more for us. Certainly 5 star service. The room service was also first class. Given the weather and that we wanted to play golf before it got too hot we had room service at 7am and the food was great and on time. You also get a jacuzzi in the room and it's really hard to not order a bottle of bubbles to enjoy in it... Which we did... And the staff provided a cheese platter as an extra which was just fantastic! And it's all for free! Food here is great. Too many restaurants to name but our personal favourites were momo (both al la carte and teppanyaki), the restaurants at the golf course are a must and the grill at the sunrise. Others were great and to be honest we didn't have a bad meal the entire holiday! Sky bar in the evening is fab with the free pool tables and amazing bar service and atmosphere. We would certainly come back again. Many people were here on their honeymoon and I can see why. The disadvantage is the beach area. If you want Caribbean style turquoise seas etc you won't get that here. The sea is generally quite rough but you are so looked after at the pool area there is no need to be at the beach which is literally next to the pools. All in all, great hotel and we will be back! Very different to earlier reviews but we were told the hotel was at less than 50% capacity as the schools in the US and UK had gone back. Perfect holiday! Read less
