Maybe sensitive to food/milk... No idea but they never get sick. Turns out as we were talking to a few more people with kids they were in the same boat. Really put a damper on our vaca :( maybe food, maybe ice cubes .... Don't know. Neither my husband or myself were sick. Other than that the hotel was wonderful . We were in the nizuc section close to the pool and lobby. Only downfall was it was far from cancun shopping/ hotel zone. Would def go back with kids but without kids I prefer to bd close to town :) Read less

Read more On our second trip to Cancun, it was recommended by family members to stay at Moon Palace and believe me...it did not disappoint. It was majestic and full of activities. What made it most awesome was the service by the entire staff. Most memorable was the service we received from Macedonio Sulub. It was absolutely outstanding. We made certain to be seated in his area each time we dined at the buffet restaurant for breakfast. We were treated like the only guests! He and his team members Carlos Acosta and Maria Gomez are reasons why we'd return. There were so many dining choices and nobody at the resort told us no. We tried to hit about all the restaurants during our stay. We also received amazing service from Leoncio, Chagalo and Rafael during dinner at Caporales. My husband was obsessed with the Shrimp ceviche. It was also so nice to meet the Jamaican staff in training to open the Ocho Rios location at the beginning of the year. Sonia (from Jamaica) was so sweet and when we wanted a little taste of the island, Sonia put her magic touch on a wonderful island tropical cocktail. Thank You for a great getaway. Read less
We arrived back from moon palace earlier today and writing reviews is not something I usually do but after the most amazing two weeks and perfect wedding day I feel I should share it. We arrived at... Read more moon palace on 15th October and from the very begining we knew our experience was going to be one to remember . All the staff from bar staff ,waiters/waitresses , cleaners, receptionist to gardners are all so friendly and make you feel so very welcome. As for the food it was amazing anyone that says different I really don't know what they expect??? Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and I can't thank our wedding planner Laura enough , we got married in the bugambillia gazebo and had our reception in the Brazilian restaurant which was amazing and all the staff made us feel very special giving us a round of applause as we entered!! Every detail from the photos to the cake were perfect and anyone who is planning a wedding / has one booked at moon palace the horse and carriage should be a definate . I had 7 members of my family make the journey to moon palace and have all had the most amazing time as we have. Moon palace we will definately be back . Read less
We went to this resort in October because my husband had a conference there. It was our second trip to Mexico. We usually prefer Hawaii, etc. This is a huge resort, so be prepared to walk a lot. You... Read more don't really have to leave the resort and it's sister resorts because of this, so that is nice. Here are my thoughts on our experience: KIDS CLUBHOUSE: My daughter (5 years old) really liked the Kids Clubhouse, but I did not leave her there unsupervised. They basically have you sign something that says it's not a babysitting service, although you can actually leave your child there. I guess this is because they really don't watch your child - they just do a general check of each play area every once in a while. It's also located on the far side of the resort next to the parking lot. That made me a bit uneasy, so I just hung out there with her there. Bring something to read or use the free WiFi...or play! TEEN CENTRE: Anyone can go in here and they have air hockey, video games, etc. They also have a quick snack area for pizza, popcorn and ice cream. This is handy because it's right in the main building at Moon Palace and is a quick grab and go set-up. EVENING ENTERTAINMENT: I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the shows. They had variety and overall pretty good quality that both kids and adults would like. RESTAURANTS: You could always find something to eat and our favourites were both the Italian places. One kind of annoying thing is they always want to take down your name and get you a table at the restaurants, so they kind of formalize things when maybe all you want to do is run in and grab something. We did figure out later that you can ask the hostess for a to-go container and then they relax and let you be. FOOD ALLERGIES: If you have allergies to nuts - good luck. They have nuts (especially pistachios) in or around all desserts and baked goods. And things are not always labelled properly - like the ice cream for instance. I almost gave my daughter hedgehog ice cream when I thought it was chocolate. Just an FYI. ROOM SERVICE: Awesome. The pancakes and the omelets are the best. Like all food at any resort - some is good and some is bad. They often made mistakes with the delivery, so order a bit extra just to make sure you get what you need. But, it was a great service and always on time. POOL SIDE FOOD/DRINK: They don't have menus anywhere - so you have to know what you want. It's almost like they don't want to encourage you ordering food from the servers working the pool deck. But, you can get burgers, nachos, etc. Also, familiarize yourself with the slushy cocktails at the actual bar so you know what to order. We liked the "Miami Vice". BEACH: Sorry to say it was not great. We never actually hung out down there because the smell of the seaweed is quite bad. And I'm from the West Coast, so it's not like I'm not used to sea smells. This is not the place to go if you're looking for that crystal clear water and white sand. The sand is lovely, but I think they actually have a sand flea problem, as the only time we ever got bitten by something was after being down there for the turtle release program. They can't mess with the seaweed, other than clean it up as much as possible each night because the water is a protected marine reserve. The baby turtles they release actually go and eat that seaweed for several weeks before heading out further into the ocean. Another "con" to our particular experience was that we found long, metal screws sticking out of the sand! Apparently they'd set up a tent down there for an event. They were very apologetic, but needless to say it was worrying. BEST PART: The baby sea turtle release program. We did it three times. Wow. It is awesome. Check with the "Public Relations" desk in the main lobby and ask to see the schedule. It moves between each property and is usually at about 6 pm each night during turtle season. You get to hold a turtle and then put it on the sand and watch it run for the water. And, it's free! POOLS: The pools are great and the KIDS AREA is wonderful. Perfect for kids of all ages. They have little slides in the water, etc. GIFT SHOP: SO EXPENSIVE! I forgot my floss and wanted to get some at the gift shop - it was $9. Not kidding. Wanted to get my kid a toy that I know usually costs $10 in Canada. It was $33. This just seems really obscene. OVERALL: This is a great family resort. I'm just picky because I'm used to staying at the Fairmont and have really high standards. Overall, they did a great job and we had a really nice time. Read less
Stayed in the sunrise section of this huge hotel 17-27 October with my husband and 13yr old son. We arrived early evening after a long flight and luggage & check in was fairly swift. We were shown to... Read more our room very quickly. We had chosen a family suite which consisted of 2 interconnecting rooms. The rooms were a good size & very clean. Plenty of toiletries and hair dryer straighteners also provided. In room fridge with beers soft drinks water & spirit optics. The room was cleaned well during our stay, however towels were not changed every day and after a few days no flannels were supplied at all, just put my toiletries in the tray instead. The jacuzzi seems like a nice touch, however upon first use, lots of black mould came flying into the bath after we had switched it on - yuck - hence we never used it again. Onto food, I like my food and expect better than I would make at home. Breakfast had a good selection and a fresh egg/crepe station was a bonus. However around the pool the selection was repetitive, burgers, nachos, chips, salad & fruit. The coffee shop also provided great drinks but the sandwich rolls were disgusting. Rock hard bread with the thinnest wafer slice piece of meat - they were solid. Everyone that had one, took one bite and they were in the bin or left on the plate. The crepes that were made fresh were delicious. We only tried a few restaurants whilst there, la gondola Italian which was ok, momo Asian which was nice , the Mexican which to be frank was tasteless. No jalapeños with fajitas and three flour tortillas between two people. The best was the La Trattoria. However for me it was still not gourmet - all starters antipasti & desserts were pre made and sat on a buffet fridge. The mains were the best as they were freshly made and full of flavour. The filet mignon was beautiful but small. Great for me but not enough for my husband & son. As most was premade, service was über quick. We were sat down for 6.30 and had antipasti, soup, cheeses, bread, sorbet, mains, dessert, coffee, petit fours & liqueur in an hour! Too quick for me, even though we requested them to slow down. Maybe others would say I am being unfair with reference to the food, but as I generally holiday in the UAE I compare any hotel food with there and IMO it was totally underwhelming. The drinks were all premium and every bar member mixed a great cocktail. There were also lots of conferences whilst we were there which made lunch & breakfast feel as if you were interrupting a business meeting. Plenty of folk were very drunk during the day instead of being at the conference centre. The other main issue we had was maintenance - one pool was completely closed at sunrise with no notice of when it would be back open . Plenty of broken paving, pillars, plaster falling off and holes in the paving. These areas were just taped off and remained the same days later. Not good enough. The best thing about this place were the staff, not once did we encounter anyone who didn't look like they didn't want to be there. Always a smile, and responded quickly to any request. The entertainment staff worked tirelessly as the weather was on/off during our stay. We also found the night time entertainment to be of a good quality, with professional dancers. The activities for my teenage son were amazing, a flow rider which he loved and stayed on most of the day, the wired lounge which has free video games, arcade games, air hockey etc and a really cool vibe. The sunrise pool was great for my son but as the other pool was closed we were between the entertainment pool & flow rider and music all day from both sides ( both different) You could also do,with changing the music as everyday was exactly the same, you pretty much knew it was 10.15 when shania twain started singing. Need to mix it up a little. The pool waitresses were great. All in all we had a good time, but we were disappointed with the quality of food and lack of taste. I have high standards with regards to food quality & even though the food was good, it certainly wasn't great and I want GREAT on my holiday. We wouldn't return purely because of this as there are far too many other places in the world that offer more. A good all round all inclusive but not gourmet or luxury by any stretch. Read less
