TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
I am currently visiting moon palace for the 5th time and this is the best experience that I have ever had. We are travelling as a group of 14 people which we thought might create a few problems but... Read more the staff this trip are by far the best that I have ever encountered. Special thanks to Jorge Petul in the lobby bar. I met Jorge on a trip to Moon Palace almost 2 years ago and he was the greatest bartender we could have asked for. He immediately recognized me again this trip years later and I was stunned, he was willing to take photos with us and make any drinks we requested and even surprised us with a few of his own favourites, he is truly a special employee! Another big thanks to our server Jose Luis in La Gondola, he was absolutely fantastic with our large group, pairing our wine perfectly and making excellent recommendations for our crew. He put on the most spectacular dessert show for us and allowed my boyfriend to take part who is travelling with us for the first time, it made his night! We just can't get enough of this place and the incredible staff that you employ . Read less
A first class property with beautifully manicured, expansive grounds; spacious rooms with comfy beds, spa-quality amenities; a variety of restaurants; world-class golf courses; spas; truly casual... Read more luxury at its best! However, the best part of the resort for us were the staff and their professional, friendly attitudes and service that really made our vacation a personal and fabulous experience! It started with Carmen S, Guest Services, who was wonderful helping us schedule our tour and spa visits. She also assisted my husband in selecting skin care products as a surprise for me. Very knowledgeable, she explained the reason a 16% resort fee is charged on any of the $1500 resort money spent. Apparently, the Mexican Government charges a 16% tax on any goods or services in Mexico, which applies to everyone, citizens or otherwise. Moving on to food and drink, the lobby bar at the Nizuc was a little more intimate. Ask Samuel to make a special drink, tequila cream with mango nectar. Again fantastic service at Manglar restaurant, a continental buffet, great for a party with much varied preferences. Juan, the manger, along with Roberto , Eduardo, Elizabeth, without us asking, requested Allejandro, the chef, arrange a very special sit-down dinner to help us celebrate a special occasion. They made an experience of a lifetime for us with their thoughtfulness, which extended far beyond dinner. Also, the Mexican restaurant, Corporales, was very good. Personal favorite of mine was the lime soup. Again, the service by Alberto, Cornelio and Masur was exceptional and made another night of celebration memorable. I might add that those who have not had a Mayan coffee, ask at Corporales if someone can make it for you. It, too, is an experience. We suggest you call Momo, the Japanese restaurant, for reservations ahead of time if you want teppanyaki. The tables fill quickly and have designated seatings. We were served a wonderful dinner by Gilberto, Aurelio and Miguel, the manager with extreme flair from the teppanyki chef. If you like octopus, this is the place to order it, grilled beautifully and so sweet! Consistency of cooked prawns for those who wonder. We were so impressed by the friendly poolside staff, working in the heat and humidity with positive attiudes and a willingness to chat. We recommend the Pelicanos poolside café at Nizuc where Nicolas, Tania and Abirzeen served the best cerviche pescado, fish tacos, flank steak tacos and guacamole anywhere. Our drinks were served with a smile and crisp uniform by Jasuito, who recommended a drink, the Riviera Maya, and the above fare. Poolside at the Sunrise, Carmelita was so sweet and chef Ernesto served fresh strawberry popsicles. Lastly, the Italian restaurant La Gondola, where my husband had the best short ribs, was a very nice choice. We heard very good remarks about the Italian restaurant at the Golf Course, which required reservations, but we ran out of time. Even though the resort is huge, visually spectacular, with timely transportation to and from its different activities, Moon Palace makes intimates spaces and their staff creates experiences to remember!
