TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
I just returned from a solo trip to the Now Sapphire in October for 6 days. It's a gorgeous resort with a top-notch staff who are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highlight was the... Read more entertainment team. I was worried given the TA reviews about the timeshare presentation, but I found that simply asking firmly for the coupons and rejecting the timeshare offer worked fine for me. Pool/beach: The pool is huge and well-maintained. If you arrived too late in the day all of the lounge chairs were probably taken, but if you walked around you usually could find one that had opened up. The bar at the pool was alright. The beach is fine...sand is fantastically soft but it's true there is quite a bit of seaweed which they work very hard to clean up every day. Not the end of the world, but if you're looking for crystal blue water, this is not your place. The water itself was fine but I preferred the pool. Activities/Entertainment: I did the bike tour to Puerto Morelos twice which was great. There's not much to do in the town other than shopping and walking around, but it's a fun time nonetheless and a nice way to start the morning. The kayak tour out in the ocean was also fantastic (thanks Miguel). Salsa lessons in the lobby with a live band were great. The entertainment team (Luis, Fermin, Miguel, Miguel, Giovanni) were just SPECTACULAR. I was constantly amazed by their energy, friendliness, and passion. They really went above and beyond every single day, particularly Luis (Stitch) who seemed to be everywhere all the time. He deserves a raise! The shows were also great. I saw Circus Rock, a Mexican culture show (phenomenal), American Idol, the fire show on the beach, and the Oktoberfest show. The resort really goes out of their way to make sure there are always fun things to do. Internet: free and everywhere! Can't beat that. Restaurants: I had the breakfast buffet every day which was quite good (say hi to Humberto - he was fantastic). My favorite restaurant was Lemon Grass, though I didn't get to try the hibachi, which seemed fun. The French restaurant (Paramour) was quite good, though the portions were small. Bluewater Grill was fantastic for lunch - and outside on the deck made for great lunch views. Some days they also had a BBQ going near the pool which was nice and convenient. My least favorites were Fresco (Mexican) and Cibu (Mediterranean). I also ordered room service for breakfast and dinner during the week. Dinner was less than impressive but at least both times the meals arrived relatively quickly. I also went to Coco Cafe (think Starbucks) almost every day. They had a fantastic frozen latte. Make sure to tip all your servers. They work very hard. Bars: My favorites were the swing bar at the beach and in the main lobby bar. Cesar, Juan, and Hugo on the beach were hilarious and just fantastic all around, as was Manrique at the lobby bar. Tipping: I brought lots of $1's and $5's for tipping at the bars and restaurants. Tipping isn't required but can certainly make a difference. But most importantly, the staff here work so hard and are so incredibly friendly, they truly deserve it. Room: Always kept spotless and cleaned every day. Room was huge and had a lovely bathroom. Balcony with chairs was a nice touch. Phone, wifi, and tv with cable included. AC worked well too. Outside activities: Different tour companies have tables set up in the lobby for tours. I did Chichen Itza/Ik-kil cenote (fantastic) with Amstar, and Tulum/Akumal with Cancun Adventures (through the Amstar table). I would highly recommend both tours. The trips generally last a whole day though so keep that in mind. Atmosphere/Other: Generally a resort for couples and families. I saw quite a few children, and definitely met quite a few couples on their honeymoon, some groups of girlfriends too. Traveling alone, I found the resort to be welcoming to all but perhaps a slightly better fit for couples. I didn't meet too many solo travelers like me. There is a gym which I didn't make use of, but it seemed nice. Sunrises on the beach were a must-see. Everyday you also receive a little newsletter in your room that tells you all the restaurants that are open and all the activities for the next day. It was great! Overall just a fantastic experience, and I look forward to coming back again. Read less
This was the best hotel resort experience I have ever had!! My husband and I got married there this Oct. Ramon was my wedding coordinator and he and his staff were simply awesome!! He was very... Read more attentive, responded to emails quickly, and was very accommodating to make sure our wedding day was amazing. My family is from Dallas and my husband's family is from New Jersey and all of our guest had a great time. This was the first time portion of our families were meeting and there is nothing like meeting someone in a relaxing and gorgeous atmosphere. Even though it had earlier the day of our wedding( good luck), by the time it was scheduled to start, the rain had cleared and our wedding was everything we had thought it would be and more. The staff was the kindest and friendliest staff you will ever encounter in the service industry. They really made you feel like they knew you and cared about your stay with them. Fatima in concierge, Oscar in food, Ana in wedding photography and just about the entire staff was exceptional!! The property was beautiful, rooms were very clean, and the entertainment group was full of energy!! One of the reasons we choose this all inclusive resort was based on actual customer reviews...and I am happy to add our review to that. Trust me Now Sappire will not disappoint we will DEFINITELY be back. Read less
I just returned from a 4 night girls trip and would highly recommend this resort to everyone! The customer service was excellent with our favorite staff being Flor by the pool, Eduardo in the... Read more breakfast buffet and Gerson at the swim up bar! The food was very good as well! I had the beef curry at the asian restaurant and would go back just for that! The desserts were also one of the best i have had at an all inclusive! We ate lunch at the blue water grill three of the days and the fish tacos were to die for! It was the little things here like no wristbands, no reservations needed for supper and can beer (including bud light) that made this resort stand out! The pool area with a good amount of loungers and floaties was very appealing! I am guessing it was the time of year since i usually go to mexico in february but the water was not as pretty as i am used to. It was fine though since we were more than happy by the pool! The evening bands and close proximity of the disco to the lobby bar was also a bonus! I hope to be back one day! Read less
My husband & I stayed at the resort to celebrate my 40th birthday. We were Preferred Guests which gave us access to the Private Concierge Room, Adults Only Pool, Cibu restaurant, in room minibar... Read more , Wifi and beach chairs/umbrellas available for Preferred Guests only. Resort Credits: I paid for our stay in advance so I received $200 in resort credits. The resort credits are very misleading, or maybe I just wasn't previously familiar with how they are supposed to work. For example: If you have $40 wine credit you can only use one $10 credit per bottle. That means that you will have to pay approximately $40 out of pocket if you buy a $50 bottle of wine. The spa credit and romantic dinner credits worked the same way. Other guests that we spoke to advised that they were subjected to an 1 1/2 - 4 hour tour and time share sales pitch in order to receive their resort credits. The concierge tried to convince me to take a tour/breakfast but I had already been there for 3 days so perhaps that's why they gave up so easily. I am appalled that they are wasting guests valuable vacation time by giving them a timeshare sales pitch. I paid thousands of dollars for this vacation and would have been highly upset if they had done this to me. Seaweed/Water Quality: I had already read many reviews on TA prior to our trip so I knew that the water wasn't going to be crystal blue like I had hoped and there would be seaweed. Both of these were true. They use the tractor to clean as much as they can, and there is no way the resort can keep up with the seaweed-it's just Mother Nature. If you want clear blue water, stay somewhere else. The restaurants: There are 5 or 6 on the resort, the Market Buffet (food varies daily), Blue Water (Burgers, Nachos (lunch), Cibu (Preferred Guests only), Paramour, Fresco (Mexican), LemonGrass (Sushi/Hibachi). Reservations are not allowed unless you buy a bottle of wine. All restaurants are not open every night, but we couldn't figure out how they determined which would be open on specific nights as it is not published anywhere. Our favorite was the Lemongrass and it was worth the wait! Fellow guests had let us know that if you ask for an assortment of the sushi they will bring you a sampler tray of each. It was some of the best sushi I have ever had. The meals during the rest of our stay were far from noteworthy and I actually lost weight during our stay. Drinks: No shortage of adult beverages here but my advice is to bring a stack of $1 bills with you to tip. You will probably still receive good service if you don't tip but they will certainly remember if you do! Remember, tips are to ensure good service but these staff members only make a VERY small daily wage. They live off their tips-don't be stingy! If you prefer a higher shelf vodka, whiskey or whatever, ASK for it when you order they will give it to you if they have it. Adults Only Pool: The staff at this pool was fantastic. Very friendly, accommodating! Make sure you reserve your chairs the day before (everyday) and bring a personal belong before 11 a.m. the day of your reservation or your spot may be given to someone else. So, why did I only give this a mediocre rating? The food was marginal and the resort really didn't offer anything that made it memorable. It seemed like they were just creating ways to try to make more money. I could have saved a lot of money by just visiting a beach in the United States that had blue water. One last note: At the end of the stay when you are checking out you will be handed an iPad to complete a survey regarding your stay; however, you are sitting right in front of the staff while you fill out the survey so I obviously didn't want to be forthright with my answers. It was very uncomfortable. Read less
