TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
My husband & I just got back from 4 wonderful nights at the Saphire. We had the most amazing time. This was our 6th time at a Mexican all inclusive & by far the best. We were humbled by the amazing... Read more way we were treated. The staff were top shelf! We are non drinkers but there were plenty of non alcoholic drinks available both in the room & around the resort. The bottled water was limitless & that was awesome because it was not in the last resort we stayed. I used the gym every morning. It was great. Super clean & the staff in there were great. The view from the treadmill is pretty beautiful. Our rooms were more then comfortable. The view from our upgraded room was worth every penny. We used the tub on the deck every night. The food far surpassed any other resort previous & they were more then accomadating with my diet (I was 5 weeks into a fight train so it had to be light & clean). I can't even go on enough about this place. It was 5 stars plus 5! Definitely go! We will definitely go back. Read less
TIPS - If you have kids go to the restaurants for dinner no later than 6:15. From reading other reviews, people had to wait where as my family of 7 never waited more than 3 minutes (for them to set... Read more up a table of 7). If you go down to the pool by 9:00, you will definitely have a spot by the pool in the shade. If you want a really good spot, go down by 7. There are signs that you can't save chairs, but not sure how strict they are on this since we never had a problem finding a spot. Book preferred if you want to be able to book a Bali bed poolside free of charge. You also get an additional place to eat for breakfast and a preferred lounge to snack. PROs - I like the super huge one pool setup - this is what I really like better over the NOW Jade - No one is up by 6:30 AM saving seats at the pool and beach like they were at the Jade - Rooms are nice and clean - Service was fantastic - Whole layout of the property was nice and everything was accessible - Cibu restaurant IMO has the best food out of all of the restaurants - There are no elevators, which to me is good ... get some exercise in where you can but if you have a huge stroller, good luck with that. - Gym - nice - Movie night - good time - Explorers Club - good when my daughter actually wanted to do an activity that was planned - Try to get Eduardo in the buffet for excellent service - he's so nice and efficient - Safe in the room is easier to use than at the Jade - WIFI was everywhere (sometimes not that great) - even at the beach, preferred or not! CONs - Food is decent - Jade trumps the Sapphire for sure ... especially in the buffet - Seaweed in the Gulf of Mexico is horrific - Water not blue and pretty - Missing the Italian restaurant like the Jade has - Buffet is smaller than the Jade - There is only one place to get towels where at the Jade they were scattered everyone around the pools - this is annoying because since the pool is so huge - if you're all the one on the one side of the pool, it can be annoying to have to walk all the way on the other side to get one or especially if you had to get more than one. - A lot of wedding parties so sometimes at the restaurants the big groups can be loud and obnoxious My biggest gripe about the hotel was the the Japanese restaurant. I can't expect their hibachi grill to be great - but it was so mediocre that I wanted to leave in the middle of dinner. Food was terrible, only redeeming quality of the Japanese restaurant is the coconut tapioca dessert. We went there again for the regular sit down menu - I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and I had a few pieces that were undercooked and I am 5 months pregnant. WTH!! I am so glad that when I bit down, I spit it out instantly without chewing or swallowing raw chicken .... I was so upset ... but it's not like they can "remove" it from the bill right ... (whatever). All I got was an apology, and wanted to know if I wanted anything else... but I was done for the night. Overall, I would probably come back, just wish the water was nicer. Read less
We stayed at Now Sapphire for four days for a wedding from May 9th-12th. The resort is very nice, rooms are well furnished, the grounds are beautiful, the pools are great and their beach was... Read more fantastic. Lots of activates to do around the resort and several tour companies onsite to help with excursions. We've stayed at several all-inclusive in the past and I probably would not choose to say here again. It’s really geared towards drinking singles in one corner and families and small children/babies in the other. The food was not my favorite at all. The only meal we really enjoyed was at the Asian restaurant Lemongrass….that was fantastic and the coffee shop Coco Cafe was great. All of the other food options were just ok, I will add that we didn't try the Mexican or the beachfront restaurant in the time we had. They also had several areas including food that you cant go into unless you are a "preferred member". I will also say it’s very far from either the towns of Cancun or Playa Del Carmen at least a 45 minute to 1 hour drive to get to either town. The hotel itself, grounds and staff were great, but it was very expensive for us to stay there for just four days and not enjoy the food or experience any of Mexico. Read less
1st experience with Now Resorts but probably 15+ times to cancun area. This resort like all the others had pros and cons depending on what's important to you. Pros- -Above average staff that go... Read more over and beyond to be friendly and accommodating -Always lots waitstaff getting you drinks at pool, beach, lobby, theatre, etc. -room was above average in size and all have a patio or balcony, plus separate seating area (including a bidet in bathroom that the kids thought was hilarious) -wide beach area with lots of chairs and minimal shells/rocks (too bad the extensive seaweed kept us out of the water) -hotel layout is easy and centralized -pool size and layout didn't make it feel crowded -activity staff and all the events- never a dull moment for kids or adults if you want to participate or just watch -2 nightly outdoor movies complete w popcorn and full theatre with great nightly shows -no wristbands, no towel cards, and no reservations Cons- -seaweed seaweed seaweed..... I've never seen the water so dark and the beaches so full (this goes for every hotel as far up and down the coast we could see:( - pool is tiled and could definitely use a rehab in certain areas like the built in loungers and around the stairs/walls (could see some obvious discoloration in grout like mold/algea and missing tiles) even though we saw workers in the pool cleaning and repairing daily, it needs a full overhaul -limited restaurants (5 buffet, Asian, Mexican, outdoor beach front, and French which is adults only so which only left 4 since we were traveling with kids. Several nights at least 1 or 2 of the restaurants were closed for private events so the wait times were over an hour unless you wanted the buffet -no reservations = long waits, that wouldn't be so bad since they have a beautiful lobby bar that overlooks the pool/beach with a great breeze but with kids that was a disaster by the time we got seated -All-inclusive should mean all-inclusive right- wrong .....this really pissed me off! One night after being told it would be over an hour to be seated for dinner we were approached and offered a "special" dinner experience on the beach with immediate seating for an extra fee such as buying a bottle of wine -again extra fee at Asian restaurant if you want saki, that's ridiculous -no elevators, I don't like the ground floor so I choose the pain but that doesn't make going up and down 3 flights of stairs with a stroller and pool toys any easier Read less
