TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
We stayed at the Now Sapphire for a 5 night girls trip to celebrate a birthday & loved every minute of our vacation!! This is a beautiful resort that is clean & well taken care of. The food is... Read more incredible everywhere, but our favorites were the French restaurant & blue water grill. What a beautiful setting to enjoy a meal. Now Sapphire offers pool & beach service which I absolutely love!! All of the staff were great but there were a couple that went above & beyond to make our stay really special. A huge thank you to Oscar for your spot on recommendations. I am also in the service industry and really commend the passion he shows for delivering a flawless experience to all guests. Miguel #1....from the entertainment staff was also wonderful!! Fun & out going, and great at getting the guests comfortable enough to participate!! We will definitely be back to this resort & have already recommended it to several friends!! Read less
Our most enjoyable week in Mexico at the Sapphire was highlighted by the complete and courteous service by both the hotel staff personnel and the UVC with Jose Luis as manager. We were always... We just returned from our Destination Wedding on Sunday and can't say enough about this place. I'll try to hit all the highs and lows since I spent a lot of time reading reviews on here before... Read more booking. The food is fantastic. Most people are hesitant about foods at all inclusive...DONT BE! The blue water grill was a favorite amongst our group and their steak and shrimp....phenomenal!!! They don't even give you steak knives...it's that good. I did not have one bad meal. It was all excellent. Paramour was also a favorite of mine. Our group tried a lot of different things, and there wasn't anything to complain about. (We're all from a small town that lives on our normal burgers and pastas so this was way out of our norm.) Did I mention free room service as well....we had 30+ people along and I think everyone ordered at some point and LOVED IT! The night club and theater offered something every night and there were also shows on the beach so for the night owls...you should be entertained on a daily basis. Daily...the entertainment team does a fantastic job during the day getting everyone involved. During our week there was dancing in the pool...beach volleyball...a mini iron man....some dancing around the pool...all in all they were such a good time, and then you see them out and about dancing in the club at night and you wonder how they still have the energy left to keep doing it all! Drinks...this area is a little sketchy, but I can't complain too much. The one thing I noticed is when you ask for a drink you like at one place...it might be something completely different at another so I tried to stick to one area if I liked it, but they are all the fruity, slushy drinks so most of them all taste awesome anyways. (I recommend a blue lagoon...not the slushy one for day drinkers) Room service-I don't like to complain about these things, especially being the bride and groom last week, but I felt short changed in this area....someone was in our room daily for towels and making the bed, but as far as the refrigerator and the mini bar/snacks went...it only got restocked two times in the entire week we were there (we did get water bottles)....others in our group told us that they got theirs...so it irritated me a little bit that we were the bride and groom and didn't receive the same things, but like I said ...were at an all inclusive resort..so you can still go and get those things wherever you want really. The other thing to go along with room service...we knew we would be getting there early and our rooms probably wouldn't be ready right away, so we waited in the lounge for probably 2 hours max. Food and drinks welcomed you though so fear not! The heat/AC in our room wouldn't go down when we got there....so finally by the day of our wedding we really didn't want to come back to a hot room and asked maintenance to fix it....A man came up to our room...looked at it...held something up...and walked out...didn't say if it was fixed or not...and it was never fixed...our brother in law said the same thing about their room and were even going to switch but didn't want to be a bother. I suggest if you cant get it right away to ask immediately...we sucked it up..and woke up a bit warmer than would have liked to for a week. And Finally...our wedding. We did not do a reception..or cocktail hour or anything really...we wanted a simple beach ceremony with our friends and family who came with us, and then wanted them to be able to do whatever they wanted yet, so we opted for the 11 am wedding, and by 2 o clock a majority of our group had taken pictures...eaten lunch all together (blue water accommodated for all 37 of us) and were back in the pool enjoying the day. We had our meeting with our coordinator right away on Monday...chose the sound system...the location..the chairs..and music...who had to be where at what time (this took less than an hour) they took care of dry cleaning/steaming our clothes the day before and had it back in our room that day so no worries about where they were on the day of. Our walk through was very brief...sooo brief in fact it made us a little worried about what we were going to be doing the day of but we didn't want to worry about it so we let it be and pretty much just winged it. It all worked out We chose the ocean front room (2nd floor) with a Jacuzzi....if your like us...this is luxury you don't get all the time...I would not have chosen beach floor just because its less private. We could use our jacuzi in privacy without others being able to actually see us using it. Others that came in our room also liked our shower instead of theirs...it was wide open...no tub. We all booked preferred club so we were in all the rooms more towards the ocean...I liked the location of these much better as well. Our room was also very conveniently located right by the swing bar on the beach, where most of our group occupied during the week so we always found someone. It was a little more for price than what we originally wanted, but for a week it was still worth it. The only bad thing during the week was the wind. I think at least 3 days they shut down the water activities on the beach because of the wind. We also booked a catamaran/snorkel day for our whole group through apple. I had higher expectations because I had done one before...this one did not live up to it. We snorkeled out in the middle of the water...so the waves made it almost impossible to enjoy it. With the wind we also did not get to do the parasailing off the back of the boat as well. Wifi-we did not personally try it, but a couple people said it worked great right away, while others struggled with it (if you needed it..i'm sure you could have gotten it if you asked for help) we stayed "disconnected" for the week and enjoyed every minute of it! The staff on the resort was absolutely wonderful. I think I speak for everyone that they enjoyed their week in paradise. Read less
I am comparing this hotel to about a dozen others that I have stayed in around the Cancun /Riviera Maya area. We got a good deal to stay here so we definitely had good value for what we paid... Read more . Everyone talks about rooms etc so I will pass on that. The hotel is a 4 star with 5 star service. As all the reviews say...the staff are great here. This hotel is Wedding Central. There were at least 3 weddings every day except Sunday. One day there were 5. Some weddings were very nice and classy but, there were some trashy ones as well. Gay/straight, you name it they got married there. We were not part of a wedding party so here is the down side of being a hotel guest in the midst of all the weddings...Most of the wedding party's were classy and had a lot of fun but there were some pretty rowdy weddings that had no respect for anyone else there. Wedding guests hang out in large groups and would pretty well take over the areas that they were hanging around in. If there was a large number of guests around the lobby bar....you couldn't get service. The wedding DJ's stop around 9 or 10 p.m. so the weddings all end up at the lobby bar or disco. Occasionally we could see one larger or rowdier wedding overwhelming a smaller group. There was even a fight in the disco between girls form a wedding party...I did say there were some trashy weddings there. They had to shut down the disco. The other annoying thing was the wedding music. It's a small resort and the receptions are outside, usually with one on the patio of the Bluewater and another on the pool deck. If you were having dinner outside at Bluewater you got to hear music from 2 DJ's at the same time!! The pools are nice here. The Privilege pool has excellent service and it's a nice place to meet other guests. The pool attendant, Alberto, was great. Raul the bartender was also. There is seaweed all along the coast here that goes at least as far south as Playa Del Carmen. It is a relatively new development as we saw this last November for the first time and we have been going there for 17 years. The water looks dirty but it's not, just suspended seaweed. No real snorkelling off the shore here as the bottom is mainly seagrass. A few small fish and some sea stars. Take a trip out to the reef as it is very healthy and you will see a lot of cool life. Better yet, go over to Cozumel as the water is crystal clear. This resort is in the North Puerto Morales area. It's going to cost you a fair bit to get anywhere as the taxi syndicate is very strong here. It was $25 US just to get into Puerto Morales. Golf. Played twice at the affiliated course Grande Coral. A very nice golf course. Your free golf will cost you about $120US with transportation. More if you rent clubs. We knew that going in so were OK with it. The golf course, transportation etc were very good. Went scuba diving with Wetset in Puerto Morales. A very good outfit. We were privelige club so we did use the lounge there. It was quite nice but very quiet. We did request an upgrade to oceanfront rooms but the cost was $100/night. Didn't bother and it worked out fine. By the way the dine around option where they list about 5 other resorts you can go to for dinner!!!! Well it doesn't really work that way, you can only go to the Now Jade and a taxi there is probably $30US each way. I found this to be a rather disappointing as that's not what it says on their website. Overall a nice resort, nice grounds, pools etc. You will get great service from the staff. Don't forget to tip them as they do work hard for you. Read less
