TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
Our first time here and we really loved it. The room, which was large with a huge bed and area with settee, table and chairs, was cleaned daily and immaculate. The facilities were great, especially... Read more the buffet, and there was a choice of five restaurants for dinner. We preferred to stay on the beach because the pool was noisy due to lots of activities so it had something for everyone. And finally, yes there was seaweed on the beach but it is something that happens every four months and there is nothing the hotel can do about it. Frankly, it didn't bother me - I had a wonderful and relaxing ten nights there. Read less
We visited Now Sapphire with our 2 children (9 and 11) and another family of 4. We have traveled to a handful of all inclusive resorts throughout Jamaica and Punta Cana. This was hands down one of... Read more the best Ive visited. We were very happy and I'd visit again. We stayed in a preferred club double tropical suite. The check in at the Lounge was quick and easy. The a/c, snacks, drinks were awesome! Do they try to hook you for a sales pitch.....yes they do. Some advice......Just say no! We were not interested and simply said no thanks and were left alone. The preferred upgrade is absolutely worth the upgrade. For the upgrade you get the Ivan (more about him later), access to the Lounge which was a very nice break during the day, a/c buffet breakfast at Cibu, and room wif. For us, the upgrade was well worth the extra money. The grounds are very clean and well maintained. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. The food was way better than I expected it to be. We had Cibu buffet every morning where there was something for everyone...even the pickiest of kids. We enjoyed the bbq buffet in the afternoons which was hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos. It was nice to just grab a plate and head back to your chairs. Snacks and coffee could be obtained all day at Coco Cafe - really really enjoyed the iced mocha lattes!! We ate everywhere except the grill which was closed a few nights. The Mexican Buffet was great and Cibu was our favorite. I have mixed feelings on the no reservation policy. We had a party of 8 so it was a little tricky and we certainly had to wait! We did reserve a table by buying a bottle of wine. I get that this might offend people but to me it was a necessary evil. Ive read comments about upholstery and pool tiles....I personally did not notice any of that! Overall, the property is very well maintained. The bars were great and the drinks awesome! Bartenders went above and beyond to accommodate my sons request for whatever ice slushy he wanted and found him a coconut one day. These guys work hard and never once did any one look to expect a tip. We tipped because of the service we received not because anyone made us feel like we had to. The pool entertainment and kid activities were great! The Entertainment Team was so fun to be around and they engaged anyone and everyone around the pool all day. Great job to all of them!!! A special mention to Ivan....Ivan is the pool concierge. He works 6 days a week and he went above and beyond for us. He reserved beach chairs for us every day and also a bali bed around the pool which was just fantastic. He juggles a lot of personalities and some of them not so pleasant. I have never seen someone work as hard as he did. My 9 year old had money that he wanted to give Ivan! He went out of his way to come say goodbye to us and made sure we were comfortable everyday. Ive rarely encountered such service and he was certainly a large part of why we enjoyed our stay so much. The only bad thing about Now is the beach. Its location is close to the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. There is seaweed and sea grass. The clarity and cleanness of the ocean varied from day to day because of the weather and currents. One day it was beautiful. The other days not so much. Im as picky as they come with going into the water at the beach. I would've liked that Caribbean Blue color ocean and I would've sat at the shore line all day. Unfortunately can't do that here! It certainly did not allow it to ruin my time and I did go in the water anyway. Besides, with the kids they wanted to be around the pool. If the beach tremendously matters to you, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall we loved our vacation and we would visit again. Read less

My second trip to the Now Sapphire will be in October 2014 and I cant wait! When I started traveling to Mexico I told myself that I would never stay at the same resort twice because there are just... Read more too many to pick from but here I am....coming back to the Now Sapphire because the first time was such a fantastic trip! My first time at the Now Sapphire was in May 2013 for 4 nights with my three cousins for a girls get-away. At that time the Now Sapphire came highly recommended by my travel agent and she was soooo right! All of us loved the resort so much and have recommended this resort to many people since that trip. I usually don't spend much time in the room so I have never really even considered spending the extra money for a beach front / ocean front room, and I also never book ground-floor rooms because I don't like the thought of hearing the people above me walking back and forth, or scooting their chairs around at midnight, but the cost of the upgrade to the Preferred Club Beach Front room was just too good to pass up. We booked two rooms in the Preferred Club Beach Front, and it was the BEST resort room I have ever stayed in. The rooms at the Sapphire have spoiled me from here on out :) A few months after my girls get-away, my boyfriend and I wanted to book a trip to Mexico. He knew how much I loved the Now Sapphire and suggested we just book the same resort, but by the time we got around to booking a room, all of the Preferred Club & Beach Front rooms were already sold out. We were trying to decide between the Now Jade and one of the Secrets resorts, and we decided to go with the Now Jade since I had such a wonderful experience at the Sapphire. We stayed at the Jade in October 2013 and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Preferred Club "partial ocean view" room and had a really nice two-room suite (different than Sapphire, where the sitting room and the beds were all one big room). I am not sure if we got some sort of upgrade for free but when we were shown to our room, there was a "Happy Anniversary" banner on our door and it wasn't our anniversary. lol I loved the two room suite because it had sliding doors in-between the tv room & the bedroom. It also had a separate toilet room with sink from the main sink & shower area, which is very nice for couples that are in a new relationship :) The view was ok, we were on the 3rd floor and had a partial view of the ocean, but the way the rooms are set up at the Jade they are pretty far from the beach (there was a huge grassy area between the room blocks and the beach). The Jade doesn't offer as many "beach front or ocean front" rooms like the Sapphire does. After spending time at the Now Sapphire and the Now Jade, I had many pro's and con's of both resorts. I love the décor of the Sapphire. It has a more authentic Mexico feel to it. The Jade was more modern, and I found the lobby to be extremely boring and plain looking. The lobby bar was never really hopping like it was at the Sapphire. The Jade has a great beach front bar that we hung out at every night while the Sapphire doesn't offer a bar on the beach that is open late night. The Jade also seems more spaced out - every bar we went to at night was pretty empty whereas at the Sapphire the people seemed to congregate at the main lobby bar every night, making for a much livelier happening hot spot. The biggest plus for me for the Jade was their adults only pool that had a swim up bar & infiniti pool. We hung out at the ledge of that pool every single day. This was truly the highlight of our trip!!!!! This adults only pool was the "quiet" pool. They played some music, but it was very, well, quiet. The main pool also had a swim up bar and an infinit ledge, but in order to get from the side of the pool that had the infinit ledge, you had to get out of the pool and walk around to the other side. ??? That was really poorly planned. This pool was was where the activity was but every time we went to that pool bar, there were kids sitting on the stools. This may sound a bit snobby, but to the parents that take their kids to a resort like this.....it's ok to let your kids order their own kiddie cocktails at the swim-up bar but please have them move off the stools and let the adults sit and order drinks. I found this very frustrating! The Jade also had by far more children under 10 years of age than the Sapphire did. Actually, I cant say I even remember seeing any kids at the Sapphire. The food at both of the resorts were excellent! I never had a bad meal at either resort. Cant really say much about the drinks because we mostly had the beer at both resorts, with the occasional bartenders' choice of a shot, or a few margaritas. The Jade's adult-only swim up bar did have the best mudslides I have ever had! So here we are a year later, deciding on where to go on vacation. Once again, we have a list of resorts to pick from and we find ourselves going back to the Now Sapphire. A few things led us to choosing the Sapphire, but most important to us this time around was having a room right on the beach. We booked Preferred Club Beach Front because the rooms just cant be beat! We thought we would choose a resort with an infiniti pool since we seemed to love the Jade's so much, but this time the Sapphire had the beach front rooms available so the room type trumped an infinit pool. My boyfriend has never stayed in a room smack dab on the beach, so since we will be in Mexico for his birthday, I wanted him to have a great room for his birthday trip. I am hoping for "third times a charm" with choosing the Now Resorts for my last 3 trips to Mexico.....the first two were fabulous! They must be doing something right to get me to come back again and October 4th cant come fast enough! See you soon, Sapphire! Diane & Greg Read less
We recently utilized this property for our long awaited summer vacation. From the time we arrived until our departure there was one disappointment after another. This property was. advertised as a 5... Read more Star which it obviously is not. It sadly needs remodeling and painting. Furniture is old, stained and upholstery is dirty. Our biggest disappointment was the ocean. It is full of seaweed and sand making it impossible to swim in. During the day as the sun heats up..the smell of decaying seaweed is unbearable. We stayed for seven days and I never received one hot meal during my stay. If it was not cold and dried out, there was none at all as serving trays were empty. We wanted to experience the ocean so we booked a beach front room. Unfortunately the property does sales pitches to engage people into becoming members, after a breakfast with a representative, there is a walk through. The show room just happened to be next to ours. There was non stop showings and we had no peace and quiet during our stay. We attempted to move to another property however Now Sapphire could not do it, they claimed it was the responsibility of the travel agent. One problem after another which fell on deaf ears. Our vacation was pricey and we are very disappointed with Now Sapphire accomodations and services. Be wise when making your travel plans and choose another property. Everyone we spoke to is very disappointed with this property. Our stay was saved only by having good staff which are very eager to make your stay pleasurable. Read less
