TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
The hotel is very impressive, clean, helpful staff, amazing grounds and pools. Travelled as an extended family. Had an Ocean Delux Room on 19th floor - fab views. No problem with availability of... Read more lifts. Room had a kingsize bed and 2 smaller beds for the children. Still plenty of room. Advise your children not to touch the items left in the fridge or drawer as you will be charged for them. You can still use one part of the fridge for your water - bottles of water left each day. Take them down to the restaurants otherwise its £6 for a large bottle! Check in is a bit slow because the staff are thorough with providing information and giving you cards - we stayed half board. Plenty of restaurants you can use - we generally went to Kaleidoscope for buffet breakfast (so much choice even for fussy children!!) and dined there a few nights - often have a theme but there is pizza/pasta/curries/asian/roast most evenings. Salad and delicious puddings too. Its right by the Aquarium window so good for viewing or waiting in line. We went to breakfast 8-8.30 most days so not too busy then - heard it gets much busier later. Book dinner for the evenings - can either go to restaurants or call 0 from your room. We also ate at Naisimi Beach which is not buffet so made a change to be served at table. The fish was outstandingly cooked! The Edge which is located between the 2 main pools is fab for lunch. Drinks and food are not cheap but the portion sizes are huge! You could easily share meals rather than buying one each. If you use half board for a lunch rather than dinner (you can choose which we thought was great) remember you can have 3 courses so you could split between you and get an extra lunch on another day. The same goes for Shark Bites at the water park. You could get an 8 piece chicken bucket on one card so could share this between children! The pizza was also a full size so could share between adults. There are staff everywhere and all so helpful. Towels are provided at the pool/beach and water park. With towels also in your room, you don't need to take any. Toiletries (ESPA) are also provided and replaced daily. You can therefore save some room in your luggage. The pools are spacious and there were always plenty of sun loungers. The Royal Pool is for swimming/playing whereas the Zero Entry Pool has activities such as a volleyball net and basketball hoops within the pool. This pool attracted more children. The water park is good fun, lots to do and again plenty of sunbeds. Beware the lazy river, one section has 7 rapids which are very fast and you do need to hold tight. There are no warning signs! I came off the ring and was pulled under. One section has torrents which is like a wave machine. Do ask if you are not sure what section you are entering! There is a golf buggy service along the beach which hotel guests can hop on/off. There are free shuttle buses to the Malls - some provided by the hotel and others by the Malls. We visited the Dubai Mall one evening - traffic was horrendous! Took nearly an hour. Might be better to go early. The Mall is simply huge we probably didn't even see all the shops. Nothing is cheaper there though but it's worth a look for the sheer size of it. It's right by the Burj Al Khalifa - the tallest building - and there is a water fountain display set to music which we enjoyed. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and would definitely return!! Whoever you are, whatever money you might have, you cannot fail to enjoy this hotel. The one overriding reason for this is the choice and the service. From the cleaners, receptionists, restaurant and... Read more bar staff, the security staff and anyone we came across, this is true service with a smile. The hotel is professionally run, spotlessly clean and the choice of restaurants even on an half board package is first class. We were upgraded for free on arrival so the break started very well and we had a fantastic balcony overlooking the pool and the city. Yes the drinks are ridiculously expensive so if you want a boozy week, buy at the Duty Free or go somewhere else than Dubai but if you want perfect temperatures in January/ February, a lazy break by a hotel pool with plenty of excursions on hand and a sense of really being in a five star hotel, then this is the place for you. I have separately reviewed the restaurants we tried, La Brasserie, Ronda Locatelli and Kaleidoscope but to save the trouble for searching, they were all very good in their different styles. Read less
If you like big hotels with many choices, crowed and buffer diners then this is the right place. The staff is helpful and friendly. The room are relative mid end compaired to other hotels and...
