We spent the first two days of our honeymoon here and absolutely loved it. The food and service were great and we were obsessed with the penguins.

My wife and I visited in December, just before the holidays and had an absolutely wonderful stay, from check in until our departure. The gentleman who checked us in was so knowledgeable, recognized my Globalist status, and gave us a variety of room upgrade options, he even showed us photos of the views from each of the available rooms. For a very busy hotel, the rooms were in very good shape, they were clean, and quiet. Housekeeping was prompt and our room was serviced each day. The grounds are spectacular, we loved all the wildlife and took part in the wildlife walking tour as well as the penguin and koi feedings. The animal caretakers on staff clearly love their job and are so knowledgeable. It was fun to just talk to the variety of parrots everyday. While the hotel is not on the best stretch of sand, the pools are great. We particularly enjoyed the pool at the Vacation Club side of things. It was less crowded, felt larger and was more relaxing. Hotel guests can use any of the pools between the Regency and Vacation Club. When we stayed, the Regency Club was still being used for first responders (and good on the hotel for that) so we had breakfast in the main restaurant each morning, and were allowed the full buffet or a la carte menu items. The food and staff were great. It was also so nice to sit right by the opening to the grounds and see all the wildlife. For our beach days, the hotel offered free folding chairs. We walked with those down to Black Rock, it was about a 30 minute walk each way. My only minor disappointment was the difficulty of booking activities like lei making. The hotel was not nearly at full occupancy, but even calling the day before, the activities were always booked. There is just so much to like about it here. It seems like most of the staff have been at the hotel for many many years and recognize all the repeat visitors, which we plan on becoming. Kudos to the GM as it all starts at the top. Read less
