MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

In a city of fabulous excess where big is always beautiful, the 5,000-room MGM Grand takes the XXL biscuit. The world’s second largest hotel features a 6.5-acre Grand Pool Complex containing four swimming pools, three whirlpools, Vegas’ longest lazy river, and waterfalls. The Wet Republic Ultra Pool holds seasonal pool parties too. And that’s just for starters, as the MGM Grand hosts huge sporting events, top shows such as Ka by Cirque du Soleil, Virtual Reality and famous performers such as David Copperfield. On top of that, Hakkasan regularly hosts DJs Steve Aoki and Lil Jon. Peckish after all that? Then take your pick from a mouth-watering range of restaurants that satisfy pretty much any mood and taste you can imagine.

Rooms were nice but really outdated. Majority of the lights on the room didn't work. The TV in the tower suite is probably about 15 years or older. Noise levels are so high from the HVAC systems on the roofs outside. Checked out on the 4/11 and still have not received my folio via email as promised. This is just ridiculous. I expected better from… Read more

Overpriced with no amenities. The room is just so-so for the price. Mini-bar is a joke. $22.00 dollars for a bottle of water. Yes, this isn’t a misprint. The only free thing we got in four days was a balloon for our 50th wedding anniversary. Overall we had a nice stay but I’ll be more selective the next time. I just expected more from a name… Read more

Cold showers, brought to staff attention, was told they were sending maintenance who never showed. If you want to take cold showers for 4 days this is the place to stay. On top of that ever call to the front desk or guest services was horrendous, rude, condescending, arrogant, attitude ridden employees. Had this comped for 4 days, wouldn’t ever… Read more

They recently became a Marriott property, but your Marriott status does not get you any perks regardless how high of a status. I use to like this hotel, but the renovation has made it worse. They do not have a lobby for you to sit and wait. They added an entire new section referred to the studio rooms and I had to walk over 30 rooms just to get to my room - hate to think what happens in an emergency and how this met the fire code. So make sure you wear comfortable shoes. The rooms were horribly decorated with no view. They charge a resort fee, but do not provide water for you to drink in the room. They have the entire fridge and snack tray rigged to charge you if any of the items are moved. The casino has very few servers available to provide drinks as you play. I also didn’t like the vibe in the gaming area. I ended up going to another casino to play that had better service in taking drink orders and music selection while you play. The locativo is at the end of the strip too. I highly recommend you book another hotel and I would probably stay at an actual Marriott to get member benefits Read less

Stayed here for a weekens in November. Room was ok but looks a bit worn out. They overcharged us for a extra water we didn't take from the minibar but we didn't want to dispute it since the line was so long to get to the front desk. Overall I wanted to stay at the MGM at least once in my life. Doubt I will again and try somethinf else when back in… Read more
