Room was dirty upon making entry with our luggage. No hot water at times. Had to ask for an ice bucket, didn't have a fridge

Wife and I travelled to NYNY in April - weather was perfect. We are both MGM rewards members, late fifties, and we got an offer on a suite, food, and free play. We've stayed at Park MGM and Bellagio before, and decided to try NYNY this time. I used this message board a lot in preparing for the trip, so I decided to leave a review. Food: 10 out of 10. There are so many food options on the property. We ate at Gonzoles El Gonzoles twice (best steak and shrimp fajitas), the italian restaurant Il Fornaio (LINGUINE MARE CHIARO is so awesome), irish pub (nine fine irishmen), wings at the fast food wing place, and Toms watch bar (multiple times). Every meal we had was awesome. The portions at the Nine fine irishmen are huge - suggest splitting something like the seafood chowder. Try the sliced prime rib french dip at toms watch bar - excellent! Room: 8 out of 10. We had a Marquis suit (one room) on the 31st floor (3154). It was really nice. It had 2 windows, so one view was MGM grand, and the other view was the airport. A/C worked pretty good, but it was April and we had to keep it on 66 the whole time. If you stay in this suite, you use the new yorker elevators and we never had to wait. Gambling (9 out of 10): They have all of the newest machines. Had one hand pay, but overall didn't come home a winner. We only played slots. Shows (10 out of 10): We walked to Planet Hollywood and saw the Scorpions - they were awesome. We saw Mad Apple at NYNY - it was really fun. We walked to MGM and saw Jabowkeez(spelling) - it was really fun. Smoking (7 out of 10): I didn't find it overbearing. You can always move. There is no non-smoking section. They do a good job at keeping the machines clean. Pool (8 out of 10): Not a crazy pool scene. More laid back with some children. Not very tropical. But we liked it - we layed out 2 days. There is a really nice essentials shop right at the entrance to the pool if you forget anything that was rather reasonable. There is no smoking at the pool area - kinda funny that you have to go indoors to smoke!. No sun until around 11. There were plenty of chairs and a pool bar. Other: There are so many places to grab a drink or a frozen daiquiri around the property - kinda like New Orleans. Most if not all restaurants have a bar to sit and eat, but i recommend getting reservations in advance. Get the MGM app and you can check in early (the day before), and the app will let you know when your room is ready on the day you arrive. If you get there early and your room is not ready, just go to the bell hop (where the taxi drops you off) and check in your luggage - they give you a claim check. When your room is ready, you can use your digital key to get to your room. Then you can call the bell hop and use the data on your claim check and they will bring your luggage up to the room - it was super fast. You can go to the desk or kiosk at any time to get hard key cards. The roller coaster is kool - its noisy but it really adds to the atmosphere in my opinion. You will also see alot of the roller coaster at the pool. If there is a hockey game that day, they have a marching band that marches through the casino in route to the game - it was really kool. ALso, they have a bar with dueling pianos that is kool. All in all, I think this is our go to place from now on. Vegas is really expensive - but I felt like I got a lot of bang for my buck at NYNY. Its also on the South end of the strip, so you can get to the airport really fast. Leave yourself plenty f time when departing from Vegas airport, the lines can get long. there are plenty of food and slot machines in the gate area, so you wont be bored. Thats all I got! Hope you enjoy. Read less
