Red Lion Hotel, Anaheim

WEATHER HERE

Recently renovated, the Red Lion offers a very comfortable standard of accommodation and a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere just a stone’s throw from Anaheim’s myriad of attractions. Comprised of two buildings, divided by a garden area. Red's Pasta Lounge is open daily and serves a hearty buffet breakfast to get your day off to just the right start. It’s also a great place for dinner with plenty of traditional American charm. For pre-dinner drinks, look no further than Red's Pasta Lounge. If you’ve still got some energy left after a day at the theme parks, splash about for a bit in the large outdoor heated swimming pool with open fire pits. There’s also a fitness centre if you’re keen to keep in shape plus a spacious sundeck for making the most of that brilliant Californian weather.

This was an average hotel that does not offer many amenities but was alright. Beds are comfortable, pillows were standard size so they have 3 on the queen size beds. Keurig in each room with small... Read more refrigerator. Wifi available but is slow. The pool area is nothing special. They have a small make shift bar in the lobby and offer a hot buffet breakfast in the morning. There is not a gift shop (like most Disneyland hotels). It is short walk to disneyland and is much quicker than waiting on a shuttle. Some of the staff we encountered were very nice and helpful and a few were not. The dining staff at breakfast were very friendly and attentive. We had to replace our card keys for our room 6 times within a 4 day stay. We were finally told that we would have to stop and have them rekeyed before going up to our room because they could not do anything else to fix without removing and replacing the lock on our door. There was also a problem in one of the rooms we had, the temperature could not be adjusted without calling for maintenance. Carpet is a dark red and a bit dirty. Ours was sticky in places so flip flops stayed on at all times. Rooms are very dark and the only way to get light was open all the window coverings so at night, you had very little light. The doors are apparently very thin because we could hear everything in the halls. I would not choose to stay there again unless they refurbished and updated the hotel. Read less

Needed a last minute hotel and it was a blind reservation through an outside vendor. Overall area is nice - very close to Disney. Stepped inside lobby to check-in, and it was a ZOO in there... Read more - people everywhere, and very noisy. I waited in line about 10 minutes to check-in, and staff wasn't rude, but was not helpful, seemed very uneducated in simple customer service tasks. Learned on my own that parking is $15 per night extra and you must use the little parking card to get in and out of gated lot. Instructions were not provided at the front desk. I was given a second room floor at very end of hall, which was good and bad - noisy outside our window, noisy in the hallways - you hear EVERYTHING! The ice machine was right in front of room door - heard ice crashing constantly. Could also hear the fireworks, but couldn't see them. Bed was firm but ok, rooms were clean and nicely appointed, A/C was controllable and loud, for which I was grateful - drowned out the other noise. Water pressure in the shower was almost non-existent, and water temp constantly was fluctuating between warm and cool. My fault for not checking it, I suppose, but someone previously had set the alarm for 3:45 a.m., and when it went off, I was not real pleased. Only amenity I used was the business center, to print off an email - that was nice to have available. Tried to use the pool area (looking for hot tub), but it was already closed at 9:45 p.m. Upon checking out, staff informed me about the $15 parking fee, in addition to a resort fee. I inquired about the resort fee and what you get out of it, and I was told it was because the hotel is now officially a part of the Disney resort area, and the fee covers "the ability to purchase tickets to Disney at a discounted rate." I said I wasn't there for Disney, an didn't even use any amenities, and she replied "it's non-negotiable, like the parking, and I've already charged it to your card on file." Well, ok, then. So, overall, clean updated hotel, but not really ideal for a business traveler due to the large hoards of families/groups everywhere. Also not a place for light sleepers. Read less
