Recently renovated, the Red Lion offers a very comfortable standard of accommodation and a relaxed, easy-going atmosphere just a stone’s throw from Anaheim’s myriad of attractions. Read more and fresh and plentiful and the wait staff is VERY helpful and courteous. The front desk staff is quick and efficient as well, and if you call prior to your stay they are very customer service oriented. We searched a lot of hotels to see how far they were from Disney, this is definitely within walking distance, a good 10-15 minute walk depending on the lights and your pace. A block and a half is the description and that is a little deceiving because it is a very long block! Either way it worked for us and didn't take long going or coming. The room was extremely clean and we had no issues whatsoever. We were not there to stay in the hotel, we were at the parks for 12 hours a day so we came home at night and crashed! Had friends that stayed here as well though and recommended the pool and fire pits. Would recommend this hotel definitely and will probably stay here again! One thing to note is if you sign up for the breakfast package, when you go down in the morning the woman at the register outside the dining room will stop you and ask you for your room and act like she charges you for the breakfast but then the wait staff come around and take your receipt and credit it back to your room, a little confusing because the woman didn't explain it to us at first and we were confused as to why we were getting charged but it all worked out. I only have two critiques, the first is... Read more that we were charged 10 dollars per night for "resort fees" though we didn't use any of the amenities that would fall under that category. We never once visited the pool or gym. In fact, we only used the shower and the bed. We were never even at the hotel except to sleep at night. Other than that, we spent all of our time at Disneyland, which I'm sure you know was costly enough. So it was disappointing to get my bill that had hidden fees on it, ones that I wasn't informed of before booking. When I booked my room, the price I was told I was going to pay was 189 dollars. We were discouraged to pay 270 at the end of the stay. We know that parking would be costly anywhere and that taxes are high in California, I just wish these charges would have been included in our original price so we could have planned better for them and maybe have used that info to find a room that fit our budget a little better. Still the most frustrating fee was the resort fee because not only was it hidden, we didn't use anything during our stay that would qualify as a "resort" amenity. The second critique I have is that the front desk staff, while knowledgeable and helpful, could maybe use a little polish up on their customer service when it comes to a friendly tone of voice and a positive attitude toward guests. I felt less like an honored guest and a little more like a sheep being herded to and fro. They were just a little short with me and didn't show the patience and positive attitude I had sort of expected. All in all, the stay was exactly what we needed, a clean and pretty place to lay our heads at night before heading back out to Disneyland. I've stayed at many hotels on South Harbor and this is by far the most updated and clean one. The staff is always very nice, the rooms and lobby are always super clean, and the room rates are good... Read more . It's a good walk from disneyland, but I'd rather walk two blocks than stay in a funky old run down dirty expensive hotel like all the ones you will walk past on your way to Red Lion.
