TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
we were on a 3 weeks holiday in America and stayed at red lion for 4 nights. this was the worst accommodation out of all. the room was too small, old, muggy, no fresh air. Did not feel like coming... Read more back the the hotel after enjoying disneyland. We had breakfast one day, again the quality of food was really bad. They charged me $ 25 for a local call!!! i would not recommend this to anyone. Read less
This was our third stay to the Red Lion for the purpose of visiting Disneyland. Check in was great and staff were enthusiastic and accommodating. Rooms were clean. Housekeeping was okay, although... Read more not great, despite leaving generous tips daily. One complaint is that the pillows are super small. Not a huge issue, but definitely an area of improvement. We will be back, and overall I recommend this hotel for families wanting a reasonable priced place near Disney. We did use the ART bus as it saved our feet for a day of walking around the theme parks. We did do the walk a few times and found it was not far at all. We took a cab back from Downtown Disney after having a few drinks one night, it was very reasonable. We have yet to use the pool, maybe next time :) Read less
I'd give this hotel 5 circles if I didn't have 1 issue, but I'll get to that last. This is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Disneyland and the area. If you are able to stay on a Friday or... Read more Saturday night, do not miss the FREE s'mores down at the pool. What a treat for my 11 year old daughter. I enjoyed them too. Not your average s'mores; they provide sauces to enhance the desire for some more (s'more). Have as many as you like. You get to toast the marshmallows yourself at one of 2 fire pits by the pool. The fire pits are lit every night so enjoy a nice relax each evening. Check-in was a breeze. I heard that other customers had issues because they booked through Priceline or another third-party booking agent, so did I, so I called to make sure my reservation was received. It was and I had no issues and no worries before I got there. As for the rooms: modern feel, nice black out curtains, comfortable beds, clean, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, alarm with iPod port, free wifi or plug in internet, flat screen tv with HBOs, ESPNs, etc. The A/C is thermostat controlled. I appreciated that. Full-length mirror and real closet for your clothes. Our room faced Disneyland and we enjoyed watching the fireworks each night. No indoor pool, but there is a small exercise room with treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, free weights and weight machine. TVs in the exercise room are run by your workout for incentive. There is an onsite restaurant which we did not eat at so I cannot comment on food quality, but room service is available. There is a gift shop with your usual essentials. They will provide toothbrushes and toothpaste if you've forgotten yours, as well as combs and stuff like that. Shampoo, conditioner, soaps and lotion were in the room. Hair dryer and iron in the room also. Our tub drained slow and the toilet was a power flush, which isn't a bad thing except you hear other toilets flushing. The shower had good pressure. I would've slept well if my daughter hadn't been sick with a cough. I didn't hear other rooms in the middle of the night, so I'm assuming this light sleeper would've not had any problems sleeping. Parking is not free at this Red Lion. You will be charged per night of your stay. No free breakfast either, but none of the hotels near Disneyland offer free breakfast. So here's the one criticism: I called the front desk for the location and directions to the closest urgent care facility and they had to look it up on Google. This should be on file! In fact, the address for an urgent care and a hospital should be part of Red Lion's customer service book, but for this particular hotel I suggest the front desk prepare a sheet with map/directions for customers when and/if this question comes up again. My daughter's cough developed into pneumonia and we needed help quickly and it was disconcerting that the front desk, while very helpful, did what I could've done and didn't have the information at fingertips. I waited for the Google search, etc. but hung up frustrated. As for location: Morton's Steakhouse is across the street, a CVS is kitty corner across the street, Disneyland parking is right next door (shuttle to the parks that run continuously, no waiting!), other restaurants are walking distance and an IHOP is also next door. You will not starve. It was easy access to the freeway (I-5). We did not walk to the parks since I have parking with my annual pass, but I saw many people walking or taking the local shuttle. We will stay here again. Read less
This was our first vacation together and thank goodness this was a nice hotel that felt comfortable and clean to us. We spent two days at Disneyland, and after walking to Downtown Disney right after... Read more we got there, we realized that the ART shuttle was the only way to go. For $5 per person, well worth the money. We got our deal through Travel Zoo, and it luckily came with parking and the breakfast included. I'm not sure the breakfast is worth the $12.95 you'd normally have to pay, it's a typical hotel buffet breakfast. Still good, mind you, but not what I normally would pay $12.95 for. I would stay here again, as long as I got the same deal as I got last time. We have a trip planned for December down to Disneyland and are trying another hotel instead. Read less
