TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
This boutique hotel is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are lovely and clean, so is the hotel room. The bed is super comfortable and the room was impeccably serviced daily. Service was 5 star at... Would definitely like to stay here again if I return to Santa Monica. Read less
The Viceroy is a very nice, high end boutique hotel well positioned in Santa Monica. The rooms were modern and comfortable but a touch smallish. The bar was busy but we found it a bit overpriced... Read more and probably a bit too cool for us :-) Breakfast was included and was of a high quality. Our only quibble was that as it is a la carte, service could sometimes be a bit slow. As a tourist, sometimes a fast breakfast option would have been appreciated. We enjoyed our stay and we liked being in Santa Monica. Read less
Wow! What a nice surprise for a quick last minute trip! I have heard great things about the Viceroy Santa Monica so when we were invited to a last minute get together with our friends, it was an... Read more easy choice. The only problem with our stay is that it was too short! We arrived Friday night and were checked in by their friendly and efficient front desk staff (who all looked sharp as well) and served a glass of complimentary prosecco, champagne or some type of sparkling that was surprisingly delicious! What a nice way to start a weekend :) Before we went to our room, we were offered night life recommendations as well as breakfast ideas and even offered to take a complimentary bike to Venice the next day since the weather was beautiful - I thought that was a great touch of the front desk staff. First impressions are everything. We went up to our room (partial ocean front king room) and were delighted with the decor, space and cleanliness. We changed, gulped our sparkling and went back down to the lobby to eat at Cast, which we chose simply for the convenience of being in the hotel. Thank goodness we did. The concept of Cast is to order several plates which can be shared, which is JUST how I like to order - so you get to try a little bit of everything! My husband and I ordered 4 plates, a glass of wine and a glass of Veuve (yes Veuve by the glass - uh, thank you) and we were out of there for like $100 less tip - worth every penny. The service was unbeatable as well, actually it was better than unbeatable. Our waiter was very nice, professional, and we were checked on by the manager later in our meal as well. We left to meet our friends at some Santa Monica hotspot, however we could've stayed and hung out in the lobby bar or pool, which both looked like fun. Had to leave the next morning to head home, but I told my husband I want to plan another trip ASAP for an entire weekend. Weather is perfect right now and the area is just full of great food, shopping, beach, etc. If you're looking for a trendy, chic hotel - this is it, hands down. Read less
This was my first time at the Viceroy. It was suggested, so I decided to give it a shot for a 1 night business trip. As we checked in, Hector welcomed us with a glass of champagne. We talked... Read more about the area and different restaurants and he made a restaurant reservation for us and also suggested a lounge in the area for afterwards. Both suggestions were great. He also warned us of a DJ in the lobby at night, which was pretty cool to come back to. No noise carried to the room at all, and the DJ stopped playing around 1:00am. The crowd at the hotel was very nice and hip. I would definitely suggest this hotel. Read less
