TripAdvisor Traveller Rating:
First the pluses of the Viceroy: great location, awesome ocean views, nice design, spacious rooms, beautiful pool and outdoor dining area. But that gets me to the Viceroy's minuses: two of the three... Read more afternoons we were there the pool was closed to host outside events. I was surprised that the hotel would close off its grounds to its guests twice in three days (including most of a Saturday). I was also surprised that no one apologized for it or seemed to think that might inconvenience us. (These were also elaborate events, so the hotel must have known far in advance that the pool and outdoor lounge area would not be available to us for 2/3 of our stay. They never mentioned it.) But the thing that annoyed me the most about our stay at the Viceroy: we had three rooms including two suites (I believe they were the most expensive suites in the hotel), one suite for three nights, the other for two nights. I asked for a three-hour late check out for one of the rooms, and the woman at the front desk said she could give me two hours but would have to charge me $75 for the third hour. I can understand if a hotel is booked up and simply can't accommodate a late check out, but I can't imagine why a hotel ask for an additional $75. We paid full price for the rooms, they weren't upgrades or purchased on hotels.com. But I suppose I shouldn't have been totally surprised. While at the Viceroy I never experienced one extra effort of service the whole time I was there. Overall the service was fine and professional but I expected a little extra something after booking three rooms, including the two most expensive suites in the hotel and a third room. So, overall, I like the hotel, but if you enjoy that little extra service that comes when you check into the expensive suites at a top-notch hotel, don't expect it here. Read less

This hotel has a cool vibe, unique decor, and manageable size. Room has all you need. Staff is friendly, but a little subdued. Some seemed to lack passion. The best experience was at check in. The... Read more gentleman was great. My room was very nice and quiet (which is important to me), but had a couple of small detail issue that I notice, such as a mirror panel missing from the mirrored wall in bathroom, the shower had 2 soaps and conditioner, no shampoo. Bathroom door had a white paint stain. Small things like that.. Water pressure in showers was low. Shower (tall tub) is hard to step into. For first breakfast in restaurant,I got great service from a gentleman, but the next morning, I was served by a younger guy, and he brought my tea already steeping but no sugar.. then he disappeared.. so I could not find anyone to get sugar to drink my tea before it got cold. Then I had asked for my dish without potatoes.. and yes it came with potatoes. And when I wanted the check, there was no one to be found. I had to stand up and go get the hostess. Small items, but that all made me rate 4 bubbles, instead of 5. Loved the style of the place, and its location. Food was also good. They charge for WiFi and then also add a "guest amenity fee" to the bill at check out on top of it. I dislike that practice immensely. Read less
