The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

Large rooms with excellent views of the Bay. Wonderful service too! We stayed five days and had a large suite (950 sq ft). More than enough garage for us and our kids plus a large dining table which made meals and games fun. The hotel staff was very responsive with waters, room fixes, meals and parking service. Would definitely stay here again.

I travel a lot for work and this staff was far and away the kindest and most accommodating of any hotel I've ever stayed at. Even before my injury this was already apparent to me. They have a phenomenal restaurant, interesting events, awesome and friendly people. Not to mention a phenomenal location and comfortable accommodations. My first time in San Francisco, and on my second day, after my business was concluded, I took a scenic bike ride to Marin County and back. A word of advice if you do the same and it starts raining--probably best to pack it up and call an uber! I took a spill from the bike and broke my femur, and had to go to the hospital. Veronica was awesome for gathering my things for me, and Irfan was a saint to bring some essentials for me himself, visiting me in the hospital and bringing a to-go meal from the Blue Mermaid. He also got me an ADA accessible room so that I had somewhere to stay before my return flight, once I was released from the hospital. I also have to mention Javier, who was incredibly sweet, always going the extra mile helping me with my bags, pushing my wheelchair, and even helped me put my shoes on when it was time to leave and the pain was too great. It was a truly humbling ordeal in an unfamiliar city, but they made sure that I never felt alone. Thank you to everyone at the Argonaut for making my stay as lovely as possible despite the circumstances! Read less

We came in from up north and traveled with our 3 year old for one night. Whether it is for 1 night or more, it is worth the stay. Rooms are spacious and clean. The room was superb with a comfortable bed and a good size bathroom. The room was clean and serviced perfectly throughout our stay. Staff are very friendly and the bar/restaurant is great. We did find that the bar closed quiet early on some evenings which surprised us and we didn't think this was fitting of an international hotel. Last orders called at 9.30pm some evenings. The food quality in the restaurant was excellent and the bar had a great selection of wines, beers and cocktails. The hotels location is perfect for anyone wanting to stay in the fisherman's wharf area. We used uber to travel around the city as we found them cheap and accessible. Read less

My family rented 2 rooms here during spring break. The hotel is in a wonderful location near many of the main attractions (Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Ghirardelli). The rooms were clean, spacious, and above average. The staff were all very helpful. The price was reasonable. Very good choice for families visiting the area.
