The hotel is beautifully decorated with classic and modern art and of course pictures showcasing its long and glorious heritage. You feel like you’re taking a trip back in time! We were well taken care of here with an excellent room with a splendid view of the Bay. Lots of room to spread out, which we appreciated. It's a big corporate hotel with lots of room for conferences, but we were here to visit friends and it was also a good location for touring and sight seeing. Good service. here.

I arranged to have the florist spread a path of rose petals from the door to the bed and they made a large rose petal heart on the bed. I arranged to have the florist spread a path of rose petals from the door to the bed and they made a large rose petal heart on the bed. There was a bottle of Martinelli cider for us with chocolate covered strawberries. I had a driver pick us up at the airport. Both he and the car were great. The concierge staff were fantastic. Beyond faded glory, dirty and unpleasant smells it really should be closed and properly renovated. Check in is slow and painful as there are not enough staff. Finding the elevator is a treasure hunt in itself and the elevators feel like they will fail at any moment. The room is adequate if you like something out of the 1950s that seems not to have been refreshed at all. The hotel is a metaphor for sad San Francisco, now a dirty, deserted and profoundly sad but once beautiful city. If you do have to travel avoid the Fairmont. Read less
