Check-in Safety & Security
For your safety, security at UK and overseas airports has been greatly increased, so you should allow plenty of time before your flight. We suggest you check-in at least 3 hours prior to departure and make your way to the departure gate 1 hour before your flight is due to depart.
Increased security measures include suitcases being scanned before check-in, hand luggage X-rayed and manually searched, and further security checks at the boarding gate. These measures will however vary from day to day and airport to airport.
Please note, as a general rule, that the following items are not permitted in your hand luggage:
- Sharp objects including: tweezers; knives with blades of any length; household cutlery; paper knives; razor blades; tradesman's tools; scissors; syringes; knitting needles.
- Weapons including toy weapons, replicas and catapults.
- Sports equipment including: billiard, snooker or pool cues; sporting bats and darts.
- Aerosols.
Mobile phones, laptops and cameras are permitted into the cabin
as hand luggage.
