The key to an enjoyable game is to get a prompt start. So it’s a good idea to arrive at the golf course at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time. That way, you can enjoy a smooth check-in and get to the bag drop to stow away your belongings. You might even have time to hit some balls on the range. Most courses have superb practice facilities, not to mention on-site shops where you can buy a fantastic range of merchandise. So there’s no excuse for not looking dapper on the course.
Most courses have at least 4 and sometimes 5 sets of tees. Check out the card or chat with the Pro staff before you decide to play off the tips – you will have a much better round.
While we know you like a challenging game, the snakes and alligators haven’t been put in the rough on purpose, honest. In fact, the beauty of many US golf courses is they are home to an abundance of wildlife. And that includes a few sharp-toothed critters, which may call the golf course lakes and streams their home. So while you’re free to do a bit of bird watching, take care if you’re set on going into the rough to find that ProV. After all, the plan is to become Tiger Woods, not Bear Grylls.
You might not think you need that old 7 iron in the garden shed. But if you are heading out to play desert golf, it might be wise to dig it out. The desert is as hard as concrete, which could put a scratch or two on your most prized irons. Not to mention the prickly cacti, which could put a scratch on you.
Most courses have rangers on the course to give advice, if you need it, and to keep up the pace of play. Most courses also have a drinks cart on the course keeping you refreshed and on top of your game. Don’t forget, it’s customary to tip in the US. $2-3 per person is the norm.
When you are done showing off your Rory McIlroy skills, staff will clean your clubs and set them up at the bag drop. So don’t forget to tip both the staff who leave your clubs gleaming, plus the clubhouse staff who serve you a refreshing drink after your round.
Whatever your level, we have the ideal package for you and your family...We've worked hard to include even more into our golf programmes ensuring you get the best from your holiday.
