British Travel Awards 2012
The Virgin Holidays Group enjoyed a successful night at last night’s prestigious British Travel Awards, scooping eight of the top prizes. The accolades included the prestigious Best Overall Tour Operator to the USA, Best Overall Tour Operator to the Caribbean and Bermuda and Best Overall Tour Operator to Canada, beating the likes of Kuoni, Thomas Cook and BA Holidays.
Amanda Wills Managing Director said “I am absolutely thrilled for us to have won so many awards. They are voted for by consumers so they really are the most sought after accolade for any travel company to have. It’s a true testament to the hard work and commitment of all the staff across the Virgin Holidays group, and the excellent service which we offer our customers.”
The British Travel Awards are widely referred to as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’. For the first time this year, all of the awards were voted for by the public, making them a true barometer of consumer opinion. This year, over 1,000,000 votes were cast with the results scrutinized and audited by Deloitte LLP. The glitzy ceremony, held at London’s Battersea Evolution, was attended by over a thousand travel industry professionals, political figures, celebrities and the most influential UK travel journalists.
