Alberta - Canada

Bordered in the west by British Columbia and the Rocky Mountains and in the south by Montana, Alberta is an alpine wilderness of woodlands, mountains and lakes.

World-class ski resorts such as Banff and Jasper tempt holidaymakers back year after year and cities such as Edmonton and Calgary offer every urban delight you can think of. Check out Fort Edmonton Park, glorying in the days of the gold rush and Edmonton's mall, the largest in the world with theatres, restaurants, nightclubs, aviaries, aquariums and museums as well as shops! Another Alberta highlight is the Icefield Parkway, with a trip on an Ice Explorer to the Athabasca Glacier an absolute must.

Calgary

Calgary

It enjoys some of the warmest weather in Canada; summers are sunny and winters don't tend to be as harsh as in other parts of the country, still, it's always best to dress in layers as it can be unpredictable with snow in July or sunshine in January! It's perfectly placed for winter sports with the world-class centres of Banff and Jasper just an hours drive away. The city is famous for its many festivals with events celebrating everything from folk music to comedy, but it's probably best known for the Calgary Stampede, an almost-100 year old, ten day rodeo event which takes place every July. Cowboys and snowmen? Calgary's got the lot!

Edmonton

Edmonton

Shoppers will be dazzled by the West Edmonton Mall, which until 2004 was the world's largest and boasts everything from an indoor wave pool, artificial beach and casino as well as hundreds of stores and, of course, what every good mall needs - a theme park!
If you're looking to get back to nature, then just an hour away from the buzz of the city is Elk Island National Park, home to a host of indigenous wildlife including moose, beaver and wood bison.

Banff

Banff

A busy tourist town, Banff is the gateway to Banff National Park. 3 ski areas are included in your pass.
It's lively! Après-ski starts on the mountain and continues in spectacularly situated Banff town, which has over 125 restaurants, pubs, lounges and bars. There is something to suit every palette and budget. Plus the town has a good selection of shops for some retail therapy.....need we say more?

Lake Louise

Lake Louise

A very special lady! Lake Louise is one of the favourite places in Canada for European skiers. In the heart of the Banff National Park, the setting is glorious (see our Virgin Holidays' Weddings brochure for details of wedding packages). Despite its large ski area, Lake Louise is a small, quiet village located in a stunning mountain setting.

Jasper

High in the Eastern Rocky Mountains, amid stunning scenery, and only 20 min from the town of Jasper, Marmot Basin provides over 1,675 acres of terrain supported by world-class facilities. One of the least crowded ski areas of its size in North America, it has plenty of room for everyone, from begin.
