British Columbia's capital, Victoria is one of the oldest cities in the Pacific Northwest. Nicknamed the 'city of gardens', it is clean and attractive with plenty of green space in amidst the shops and restaurants. There's also Butchart Gardens, regarded by some as the most beautiful in the world and well worth visiting. Very British in atmosphere, there are elegant Victorian and Edwardian mansions to admire, the Royal BC Museum and Thunderbird Park with its amazing display of 15 totum poles! End an afternoon's sightseeing with traditional high tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel or head to Chinatown, the second oldest in North America, for some oriental delights!
