Golf in the Caribbean ranges from championship
courses to relaxed rounds amongst stunning seaside scenery. There's plenty of
choice if you fancy a round with spectacular sea views and sunshine guaranteed.
Challenge yourself at Jamaica's Rose
Hall Resort & Spa, a golfer's heaven on the northern Jamaican coast with
three incredible courses. First there's Cinnamon Hill an 18-hole top championship
course with stunning sea and mountain views and holes to challenge any expert.
Then there is White Witch another 18-hole course set over 200 acres on the former
Rose Hall sugar plantation. Each round includes a caddie programme where expert
advice is on hand to help with golfing tips, locating and marking balls and
much more. The icing on the cake is Half Moon an award-winning 18-hole par 72
course.
Celeb spot at an exclusive club with a difference. The Royal
Westmoreland is one of the world's finest golf clubs. World-renowned golfer
Ian Woosnam liked it so much he bought a home here. This 72-par course, set
on the white sand coastline of Barbados can boast breathtaking sea views on
every hole. Enjoy a complimentary round of golf on this member-only exclusive
property. Natural challenges abound such as quarries and hidden bunkers. Each
hole is set up with tees to suit all standards so it suits aspiring and accomplished
golfers alike.
Take advantage of a 30 minute beginner clinic to get a taste of golf at Sandals
Regency La Toc Golf Resort & Spa. Ideal for beginners or parents taking
time out from the kids, the 9-hole course in a stunning setting is perfect for
a little relaxing time out. For those with more experience this par 33 golf
course has its challenges such as sudden sea winds, holes that demand accuracy
and views that rattle concentration. Caddies and carts essential.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus to be fun and memorable, this is the only signature
golf course in Cancun
on the Riviera Maya. Its beautifully designed layout challenges golfers to navigate
through a variety of landscapes. Obstacles include hole 17 that plays downwind,
hole six, over water and other hazards such as natural wetlands, hidden bunkers
and jungle vegetation. The course has three nine hole options with each hole
having four sets of tees. Keeping up with the latest technology, the golf carts
come equipped with GPS, which comes with easy to use features such as exact
distancing and electronic scoring. If you want a different view of the greens,
head to the spa for a number of treatments you can enjoy whilst overlooking
the course.
Cocktails at Sunset
Melia
Las Amercias is Cuba's
top golf course. As well as a unique beach side course fringed with palm trees,
lagoons, and sand traps, this 18-hole links course is also part of the Golf
Academy which has several courses and lessons tailored to both professionals
and students. The course is designed for the first nine holes to be simpler
and the last more tricky - there are several challenges where the sea is actually
part of the course! Cocktails at sunset are essential to soak up the tranquility
of the surroundings once the challenges have been conquered. Virgin guests receive
two free rounds of golf per stay (min stay 7 nights) or unlimited golf (min
stay 14 nights). Cart and club rental cost extra.
