Our Responsible Business policy
Responsible Business is about being accountable to all stakeholders touched by our business operations, maximising the benefits we bring and minimising negative impacts. Besides being a successful company contributing to the economy and providing many jobs, we think it’s important that we make a positive contribution to society and help make peoples lives better.
We therefore fully support the principles of corporate responsibility and sustainable tourism, and implement these principles throughout our business:
- We are committed to working with our partners in the UK and overseas to improve the overall sustainability of our supply chain and head office operations.
- We are committed to reducing the carbon dioxide emissions from our business activities and are taking active steps to measure and reduce emissions. In addition, Sir Richard Branson has committed that all profits and dividends the Virgin Group receives from Virgin Holidays will be invested into the search for energy sources that don't contribute to global warming.
- We strongly oppose all exploitation and illegal activity in tourism (such as child labour or maltreatment of animals). Any incidences bought to our attention are brought under immediate investigation.
- We allocate significant resources to support communities and community projects in the destinations where we operate, across the world.
- We work with our staff to raise awareness of environmental and social issues and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices in the workplace and make a difference in their own homes.
- We fully comply with all local, national and international laws and regulations applicable to our business activities.
- We are committed to continually improving our overall performance in the context of sustainable development and the management of tourism, and keep open communications open with key industry bodies on this subject.
