Seven Awards Won at the British Travel Awards 2009

Virgin Holidays swept the board at last nights British Travel Awards scooping seven of the top prizes. Accolades included Best Weddings & Honeymoons Tour Operator, Best Activity/Sports Tour Operator, Best Ski & Winter sports Tour Operator, Best Safari/Wildlife and Nature Tour Operator, Best Cruise Holiday Retailer - Virgin Holidays Cruises, Suppliers Sales Team of the Year. And the big award, Best Long Haul Tour Operator beating the likes of Kuoni, Thomson and BA Holidays to bag the trophy!

The awards are widely referred to as the "Oscars" of the travel industry and are the most recognisable of all travel industry accolades amongst consumer and industry professionals alike. The awards are voted for by the general public and are the largest in the UK, created to award excellence in the travel industry. 90,000 votes were cast last year, so winning these awards is a real kudos for Virgin Holidays.

The awards took place at the Battersea Evolution in London last night, with over 1,000 travel industry professionals in attendance.
