We had a fantastic experience at baobab. The staff are kind and friendly.. they kept checking on us. Spacious rooms on the kolekole side. The daily evening shows at the amphitheatre were excellent. I picked this hotel after looking at several others. Unlike most guests, I am in Mombasa on business. Chrispine was my main point of contact, but to be honest, Chrispine messed up. I was in the hospital in Nairobi with lung issues a few hours prior to my arrival. While several days earlier I had booked my arrival with Chrispine with a hotel driver, he sent a taxi instead of the hotel car as had been planned, and never even bother to charge it to my room. There are two problems: 1. There was no AC in this taxi. I was literally on a nebulizer, ventolin inhaler, and other lung steroids previously (in Nairobi) and my taxi had no AC, so we were driving thru Mombasa construction with the windows down: dust, sand, pollution, and humidity. This was the worst situation possible for my lungs. When we arrived at the hotel, the taxi driver asked me for cash, which was totally unexpected because Chrispine had mentioned it would be charged to my room. How unprofessional! 2. Willick saves the day. Willick checked me in and made all my transportation issues fade away. While checking in, he familiarized me with the hotel and cast away any doubts I had about checking in given the big mistakes by the booking department. Willick should be promoted!! He is so tactful and helpful, even while I was upset and checking in in the middle of the night. Props to Willick at Kole Kole!!!! He gave me a cold towel, assured me everything would be ok (even when the credit card reader was on the fritz), and dispelled all doubts I had and showed me the way to the bar: he knows how to handle a disgruntled american!!! Props to Willick!! Read less

Gardens and pools looked well kept. The room we had smelled of wet dog as did the bed linen, but we put that down to A/C and humidity. We were unable to enjoy the pools (or the bars/restaurants) as we were both hit with food poisoning less than 36 hours after our arrival. We had eaten at the Marhaba fish restaurant, which tasted fine at the time but one of our party ended up in the local hospital for 15 hours with acute food poisoning. The hotel management arranged a car to and from the hospital, but otherwise could not have cared less and even charged us for the offending meal!! We have been to Kenya many, many times and will never return to any Mobassa beach hotels again. Most staff were friendly except at one of the bars where they could not have been less interested in serving customers. We were counting the hours to leave, and nearly 2 weeks later have not fully recovered from their food!! Read less

My first ever vacation landed me at the BAOBAB BEACH RESORT & SPA....Let me just say, i felt like i was in heaven, for lack of a better word :) On arrival, the team is very welcoming. This is where you will meet Lucy with her smile and a glass of cold juice to quench your thirst and relax you from your journey. I was with my Mother and to say the truth, the team were so accommodating and helpful. We went straight to have our lunch...And man, to say that i left Diani with some few extra kilos, i wouldn't be lying. The food was in plenty. We were lost for choice. Here i met the very charming Ngoa...He always had a smile on his face, ensuring that i have eaten to my brim , and that Mama was well. He is the one who made add the few extra kilos :) Not complaining though! On day 2 he made me some special tea for breakfast. I remember joking with him, to be careful i don't make a husband out of him (lol). Baobab has 3 main hotels inside, Kole Kole, which i visited frequently to enjoy the pizza, Baobab which i was at, i'm sure the bar attenders have marked my face :) and Maridadi, which i regret not exploring, but that will be where i'll sleep next time. Lucy and Ahppy, make sure this happens... My experience at Baobab was so far the best, and i can't wait till i go back to "my little heaven" as i call it. Read less
