Overall the Baobab resort was a fantastic experience for me, and it was mostly thanks to the restaurant staff. Pros: you don't need to go anywhere else. Cons: loud, spotty internet and rooms can be disappointing. My first chalet’s bathroom was mouldy and musty (an issue I faced in all 3 hotels I stayed at in Kenya) and it took several long, walks back and forth to the reception to sort it out. My chalet was eventually changed but the effort took a lot of energy and wasted my limited time. The resort is all inclusive and there was quite an adequate buffet laid out. The staff at the Maridadi restaurant marked my trip for me. As a solo, female traveler their attention, from the mostly male waiters and chefs, never felt inappropriate or aggressive. They fussed over me, trying to tempt with other dishes (I’m slim, people always try to feed me) and explaining the composition of and how the Kenyan dishes I was not familiar with were cooked. They engaged me in conversation trying to figure out where I was from, advised me about what activities to try out and how to haggle. If I did not seem to be in the mood for banter they left me alone except to find out if I wanted my glass refilled. I found them a good balance between professional and brotherly friendliness. The resort itself is a loud, activity filled haven: there is the Porini Amphitheatre, where I enjoyed an energetic acrobatic display. 3 pools with adequately stocked bars close by. There is a spa with very competent spa ladies who give enjoyable massages. There were daily exercise classes but I never woke up in time. The is also tennis and archery. The hotel shop and it’s charming curator also deserve mention. The beach outside the resort can be overwhelming as lots of people come up to you to try and sell things but while persistent most are not intimidating. I did enjoy a ride in one of the glass bottom boats to a nearby island and lots of jet skiing. I even braved a camel ride. I’ll be back to Diani soon. Read less

There are lots of baboons and when we were having dinner outside, a baboon attacked the kids when they were eating even when i had asked the staff many times to try and shoo it away. The service wasn't great either. Personally i would defiantly not be rushing back Read less

A special thank you to Robinson who provided us with a list of basic Swahili phrases and always had a smile on his face and some nice words to say dispite being busy. The same kindness applies to Zukura who served our drinks for breakfast and lunch and young James from the pool bar. The food was the best we ever tasted in an all-inclusive resort and so much effort was put into making the dining room look so welcomimg each evening. We will glady book another stay. Read less
