Wonderful place to bring the family, lovely staff and beautiful hotel, very clean and picturesque. A variety of Swahili dishes and different evening settings for meals. Time I visited end of August was ideal as found the hotel quiet and peaceful.

I and the wife stayed here after our Safari for 6 nights on our honeymoon. We've done a fair bit of travelling, and I have to say the quality of service at this place is second to none - every staff member was a joy to talk with, and they couldn't have done more to make us happy. I even asked if I could have a fresh coconut (not on the menu) and small-time later one of the groundskeeper/gardeners brought over a couple he'd fetched from one of the trees...something I wasn't charged for and went a long way in terms of going the extra mile. The rooms are very clean comfortable, but one thing I would say is if you're in the ground apartment and have a noisy family above you, you will hear them - not a big issue, but just something worth noting. We had a noisy family for around 3 nights, and overall it didn't effect our view on the stay. Lots of wildlife around too. We were half-board, so our breakfasts and dinner were included - the food quality was varied and of a good standard. Both I and my wife are vegetarians, and I have to say we had options at all meals - which is saying something when travelling. It's a place to go and chill, not to be too busy, the beachfront bar and sunbeds is a great place to watch the world go by. There are a few locals selling things soley to this hotels guest on the beach front, and they are in no way a nuisance. Often you got some pretty persistant hawkers, but they were all very kind, respectful, and to be honest, we bought some souvenirs from them (do haggle) as they had some good stuff. Put it this way, I even played volleyball with some of them on multiple occasions (the hotel organises daily). I'd also recommend the water sports centre on-site, I learnt to windsurf which was a lovely experience. Overall a fantastic stay, thank you for making our honeymoon special! Read less

It’s a perfectly serviceable traditional hotel, good value for money, an older 4star small scale holiday hotel. It’s at the very end of the beach so it’s nice and secure but getting out and about takes a little longer Quiet and friendly, they do lay on some entertainment but make sure you take a book as well

We (family of 4 with 2 teens) stayed here for 8 nights, following a full-on 7 day safari. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind, and process everything we had just experienced. We stayed in 2 suites, there is an option to have a chef come and cook for you in your suite, but we preferred to join the main dinners. The theme nights on the beach and by the pool are lovely, and for all meals there is a good choice, with chefs very helpful and friendly. As a vegan, I struggled a bit sometimes to find the options, but the head chef was always happy to make something for me if there wasn’t anything suitable. ( the veggie options often contain milk) Breakfast at the outside tables is an experience, watching the beautiful weaver birds flitting around, dragonflies, and fish in the pond. There was always somewhere to sit and chill, sunbeds round the pool, or at the beach, and also quite a few sofa type areas, on the beach, near the beach, in the main building, and plenty of shady spots. The sea is lovely and warm to swim in (wear shoes - sharp rocky bits/coral and sea urchins), and the beach is beautiful white sand. I tried snorkelling from the beach, but couldn’t see much other than sea urchins, boat trip required for this ( pilli pipa dhow recommended) The pool is also lovely, bit cooler than the sea, with a swim up bar. Kids liked milkshakes from here. Beach boys will come and chat, but are friendly and also join in the beach volleyball, nice to support them by buying a few bits, the poverty is staggering. I had an hours massage with Veronica ( the Elight massage shack facing sea next to the beach boys stalls) for 1,000 ksh (about 10 euros) which was great, friendly and professional, and you can relax and listen to the sea. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. It’s a smaller quieter hotel, perfect for us, but still had atmosphere and ambience. WiFi great. Read less

The hotel sits on Galu Beach which when we stayed in April/June was near deserted and you could walk miles on clean white sands. The hotel has a lovely beach bar and sun lounge area. Breakfast is a delight with chirping weaver birds nesting adjacent to the breakfast room and the usual monkeys attempting (unsucessfully) to nab a treat! Highly recommended hotel which is very well managed and loved by the staff - we could not fault it. Read less
