15 on Orange

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

The upmarket ‘Gardens’ district sits at the foot of Table Mountain adjacent to the Company Gardens – an oasis within the CBD and the Parliament buildings. It is a great location choice for a new ‘design’ hotel- a contemporary space stacked with amenities to serve as a great base for work and play with unsurpassed views of Table Mountain. With a décor that is very urban Manhattan it’s unsurprising that a visionary developer from the NYC group was a partner. Although, the Murano Bar is definitely more Vegas like with its 20,000 links Murano chandelier, red drapes, velour banquettes and gilt framed chairs... wonderfully kitsch. The Judges Lounge has a little more gravitas in reference to nearby Parliament and High Court - its walls are adorned with 700 law books (although there is also a bright white snooker table). A 7-storey atrium is the heart of the hotel with a lounge space of its own and the 7th floor spa is a must.

Room was large and had a great view of Table Mountain. Service was excellent. Location was in the center of everything. With that being said, there were some shady characters outside in the city at night, but that's just like any big city. We would highly recommend this location for anyone traveling to cape town. The hotel is very modern and the level of attention to our needs was outstanding. Every employee we met seemed genuinely interested in making our stay memorable. Although there was a lot of competition for best service, Faheem stood out the most. When we arrived for breakfast, our waiter from the previous day met us as we arrive and took us to a table he had picked for us. The salmon lakke, which is similar to eggs Benedict, was amazing. I used Marriott Suite Night Awards for a a 2 BR suite that cleared 5 days before arrival. As a Titanium member, my son and I received an excellent breakfast each day as well as the 1000 point stay bonus. Read less

An excellent 5* stay. Incredibly friendly staff. Fabulous modern decor that achieves the near-impossible of being both stylish and relaxed. And (as a Marriott Ambassador / Lifetime Titanium) upgraded to a simply lovely two-bedroom suite. We had our eight-month-old daughter with us. She was so well looked after it was amazing. Highly recommended.

Rooms have small refrigerator and can be converted to mini-bar upon request. Hotel has a restaurant and bar serving breakfast lunch an dinner. Lexus limo transfers available, but it is more costly than local Taxis. If you find a taxi company you like ask for phone contact information, so you can make your own arrangements. Would stay at Hotel again. Read less
