The hotel

The upmarket ‘Gardens’ district sits at the foot of Table Mountain adjacent to the Company Gardens – an oasis within the CBD and the Parliament buildings. It is a great location choice for a new ‘design’ hotel- a contemporary space stacked with amenities to serve as a great base for work and play with unsurpassed views of Table Mountain. With a décor that is very urban Manhattan it’s unsurprising that a visionary developer from the NYC group was a partner. Although, the Murano Bar is definitely more Vegas like with its 20,000 links Murano chandelier, red drapes, velour banquettes and gilt framed chairs... wonderfully kitsch. The Judges Lounge has a little more gravitas in reference to nearby Parliament and High Court - its walls are adorned with 700 law books (although there is also a bright white snooker table). A 7-storey atrium is the heart of the hotel with a lounge space of its own and the 7th floor spa is a must.

When I used to work for Marriott, I had the opportunity to visit this hotel. When they arrived they treated me so well and with so much love that I felt I was arriving at my house. This is one of the best city hotels I've visited! The rooms were huge, clean, modern, and had amazing views. The breakfast excellent (free as Marriott Plat), and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend staying here in Downtown Cape Town.

Location, location, location!!! Just a walk away from the cool Gardens restaurant scene as well as the major tourist attractions such as the Company Gardens and adjacent museums, this hotel has a lot to offer. But above all, it was the vsuper friendly and efficient staff that stood out. We had a situation in our room which would be a major crisis and test for any hotel in the world but we were surprised how professionally and effectively everything was handled. They really went out of their way to help us! The breakfast buffet is what you would expect from a place in this class and price range, plus magnificent views of Table Mountain if weather permits. On the downside, the furniture and equipment in our room and in the restaurant would definitely benefit from a makeover. And as the pool area sits right next to busy Orange road, it was both deserted and noisy during our stay. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was that the breakfast area was not accessible by wheelchair because the accompanying lift did not work at the time of our stay. Otherwise, everything was great, thanking once again all the super helpful staff members! Read less

We could not have spent our first week in Cape Town in a more friendlier hotel - the host of characters we met became friends whom we'll miss but hope to return to. We could not have spent our first week in Cape Town in a more friendlier hotel - the host of characters we met became friends whom we'll miss but hope to return to. We shall be writing to the hotel separately to single out members of the team that made our visit so extra special but if you're visiting Cape Town for business or pleasure this is a very well placed hotel for both, situated as it is near the CBC and all the historic sights grouped around the Company Gardens. The team are also of the top drawer! Read less
