Cape Grace Hotel

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Part of the Cape Town social scene, this iconic hotel attracts discerning locals and travellers to its vibrant Bascule Bar. Known for its whisky, wine, and cocktails (and tapas), sundowners in the bar are just one of Cape Grace’s dining and drinking experiences, with others including tasting the contemporary Cape cuisine of Signal Restaurant. It helps that Cape Grace has one of the best addresses in the city, on a private quay by the V&A Waterfront – and this harbour-side location means it can share stunning views of the marina or mountain from its suites. Locals may get to taste the delights of Bascule Bar, but those staying here also get to indulge in the nautical-themed outdoor pool, signature Kalahari massages in the spa, and a children’s program that includes thoughtful touches like little slippers and robes, and gingerbread decorating.

We had a wonderful stay at Cape Grace. After spending a week on safari, we very much enjoyed relaxing at this luxurious hotel. The accomidations were beautiful. We were extremely happy with the size of our room and bathroom and the overall decorating of the hotel. We were pleased with the included breakfast, with a decadent buffet and hot meals to order. The service was excellent, with the staff going above and beyond. They coordinated rides for us to other neighborhoods and wrapped all of my souvenirs for safe transport home. The location next to the beautiful waterfront made the evenings simple, strolling over to the many restaurants for dinner and shops. Only a short car ride away to District 6, Green Market and Bo-Kaap. We were very pleased with the experience, and very much enjoyed lounging pool side our last afternoon in Cape Town. Read less

They have first class drivers in first class cars that will take you anywhere you want to go.k. The drivers are very informative and are gentlemen to the highest extent. Everybody that works at the hotel is just wonderful. They are very helpful always have and smile on their face and there’s no question they probably have way more staff than they really need to get the job done but that’s what makes it so special as no one is stressed and they are there for you whatever your needs may be. They have a nice gym that overlooks the waterway. The spa is very nice with a rocking steamroom and sauna (which I love!). They also have an awesome breakfast , great library, and nice bar. The whiskey bar was under renovation so unfortunately we didn’t get to see that but they do have complimentary wine tastings every night. I would definitely stay here again. Our main concierge I think his name was (Eschelon?) He was excellent and just so helpful. When we got there my wife had a problem with an infection from a previous wisdom teeth surgery and within minutes they had a set up with an awesome dentist, drove us there and everything was taken care of and it was on a Sunday evening short notice! . I just can’t say enough about the Cape Grace hotel! 10 stars! Read less

The location is perfect on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The staff and facilities are excellent. We had a view on the marina and Table Mountain which was a great way to awaken each morning. The staff make an extra effort to know all the guests and are very welcoming each time you return to the hotel. We were celebrating a special occassion and had tried for months to get a reservation at the Test Kitchen and the concierge was able to score this special restaurant for this special occasion. We will definitely stay at Cape Grace during our next visit to Cape Town. Read less
