Cape Grace Hotel

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Part of the Cape Town social scene, this iconic hotel attracts discerning locals and travellers to its vibrant Bascule Bar. Known for its whisky, wine, and cocktails (and tapas), sundowners in the bar are just one of Cape Grace’s dining and drinking experiences, with others including tasting the contemporary Cape cuisine of Signal Restaurant. It helps that Cape Grace has one of the best addresses in the city, on a private quay by the V&A Waterfront – and this harbour-side location means it can share stunning views of the marina or mountain from its suites. Locals may get to taste the delights of Bascule Bar, but those staying here also get to indulge in the nautical-themed outdoor pool, signature Kalahari massages in the spa, and a children’s program that includes thoughtful touches like little slippers and robes, and gingerbread decorating.

We can’t say enough about the service at Cape Grace. The women at the front desk were more like your favorite aunts who wanted to make sure that we had the best plans for our stay in CapeTown. The car service was very convenient and the breakfast room service was awesome. The location is super close to the V&A Food Market which had a great range of local food choices. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We stayed here on a private tour booked through National Geographic, they did a fantastic job of putting this trip together. Read less

From the moment you walk into Cape Grace you know your at a special place. The entrance is as beautiful as it is inviting. The staff were all fantastic. High tea was great with a large assortment of options. Great location close to the wharf. Cant recommend enough.

We stayed and reviewed this hotel 4 years ago - we said then that we would return and we did, having recommended the hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town. The hotel remains top class but something special seemed to be missing this time. It could be that the staff are still friendly and efficient but they weren't quite as attentive. The hotel now seems to be hosting tour groups which might have altered their approach to service. It definitely impacted upon our stay as the groups got up for an early start, banging doors and talking loudly in the corridor. We had a similar Table Mountain facing room as last time, which was well appointed and had everything we needed including USB ports and an international plug socket. The concierge team was still excellent and went to great lengths to deal with an issue we had with overcharging at a restaurant. The complimentary chauffeurs were brilliant and of course the location remains superb. We took advantage of the complimentary wine tasting but were somewhat underwhelmed by the sommelier who just went through the motions and offered little in the way of information. Breakfast was good; both the continental and cooked. This time we are not as convinced that we would stay again on our return. Read less

Wonderful welcome after an overnight flight. All staff are so friendly and helpful. Room was with a Table Mountain view, very clean and spacious. On arriving back from tours you were always welcomed "back home". Breakfast buffet was extensive. Great location for lots of restaurants on the Waterfront.
