Cape Grace Hotel

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Part of the Cape Town social scene, this iconic hotel attracts discerning locals and travellers to its vibrant Bascule Bar. Known for its whisky, wine, and cocktails (and tapas), sundowners in the bar are just one of Cape Grace’s dining and drinking experiences, with others including tasting the contemporary Cape cuisine of Signal Restaurant. It helps that Cape Grace has one of the best addresses in the city, on a private quay by the V&A Waterfront – and this harbour-side location means it can share stunning views of the marina or mountain from its suites. Locals may get to taste the delights of Bascule Bar, but those staying here also get to indulge in the nautical-themed outdoor pool, signature Kalahari massages in the spa, and a children’s program that includes thoughtful touches like little slippers and robes, and gingerbread decorating.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights to kick off our holiday in South Africa and to celebrate his 40th birthday. We had the most beautiful 1 bedroom suite that overlooked the pool and V&A waterfront, it had two balconies (one with sunbeds and outside dining space), a huge living and dining area, seperate toilet, walk in closet, bedroom and a well appointed bathroom. I can only echo everybody else's glowing reviews. The service is top notch, everyone we encountered from check-in, the door men, concierge and restaurant staff really made this a special holiday for us. Having the use of the hotel car was also a nice touch, just speak with the concierge and they'll book you a slot at the time you need it. Breakfast was plentiful and lunch in the main restaurant was a lovely experience. When we couldn't decide what wine to order Steven (I think that was his name) gave us a mini wine tasting to help us decide and he was really knowledgeable. This is a great example of the team going above and beyond. Location of the hotel is perfect if you want to walk to the Waterfront (5 mins max). And make sure to check out the Water Shed for beautiful home made produce to take home. The Oranjezeicht food market (weekends only) is also only a 10-15 min walk away. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Cape Town then look no further. Read less

The room was beautifully decorated/furnished and full of unexpected welcome amenities. We had maid service every morning and turn down service every night. All the people who work at the hotel, from the first moment we were greeted upon our arival to our departure, were very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. The interior of the hotel is full of interesting antiques and relics from South Africas' colorful past. We ate at the main restaurant for one dinner, all breakfasts and some room service. ALL the food and drinks were outstanding and of excellent quality. The location is very well located to take in all the amazing sights and adventures that the area has to offer. We really loved this hotel and highly recommend it! Read less

We stayed at Cape Grace for 5 nights at the start of our SA trip. Simply put - if you can afford it stay there. Great location, service, room, restaurant, lounge and pool. Convenience for the Waterfront couldn’t be better but reassuringly you are away from the crowds. The view over Table Mountain from our room on the marina side (ask for a room on this side) was stunning. The hotel staff are probably the most hospitable that I have encountered anywhere. We had considered the other obvious hotels in Cape Town but were extremely pleased that we picked Cape Grace. Read less

Just returned from a marvellous holiday in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Stayed at the Cape Grace Cape Town for a week and have to say it was an excellent hotel and with staff to match, taking service to an extra level. The downside was we only stayed 7 nights! Thank you for adding to a fantastic holiday.
