Dock House

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Fitting neatly into its neighbourhood, the Dock House gives you the full V&A Waterfront experience. It has a charming history – as the Harbour Master’s private home in the 1800s. It oozes Victorian elegance – with lavish chandeliers, exquisite fabrics, and antique-inspired furnishings (and modern luxuries like a courtyard pool with Table Mountain views). And it feels like you’re staying with close friends – with just six rooms, a bijou breakfast room, and the option to pop into other hotels in the ‘family’ for dinner. But you’re here to experience Cape Town – and you’ve picked one of the best addresses, just moments from the waterfront’s dining, shopping, and sights like Time Ball Tower and Nobel Square.

I had a wonderful hot stone massage and deep cleansing treatment with Adiele, Pelma and Noxie! They are so professional and sweet, and they handle their clients with so much care. Sanctuary Spa is my favourite spa!

My wife and I have just had the most amazing four night stay at The Dock House and can not recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff are brilliant and make you feel so welcome and special. So many people helped make our stay memorable and the lovely little touches such as the staff remembering your names greeting you with a smile at all times, complementary bottle of fizz upon arrival, evening turndown service etc. We had a massage in the spa and nine course taster menu with paired wines at Dash restaurant (in the sister hotel opposite), both of which we thoroughly enjoyed! All in all, a five star experience and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay. Read less

Hardly recomended by our travel agent (we had another one in mind), I am happy to choose it! Excellent 6 rooms hotel, the best situation, elegant, comfortable and very well decorated. Staff was friendly and attentive to any need we could have. We stay for 3 days in our first visit to Capetown. Last day, we went to their sister hotel Victoria for… Read more

Staff was friendly and attentive to any need we could have. We stay for 3 days in our first visit to Capetown. Last day, we went to their sister hotel Victoria for breakfast, you can choose where to do it. Good too! But the intimate of being like if you were at your own home... We will definitely come back! This is a truly wonderful boutique hotel. The rooms are sumptuously decorated in warm tones, huge bed and spacious bathrooms. The Dock House Hotel is a former Governors residence and the high ceilings and beautiful chandlers take you back to times of old. Tyler (GM) and his team are professional as befits luxury hospitality and unique in their authenticity in wanting our stay to be restful, where we felt genuinely cared for and where no request was too much trouble. The whole team were very friendly and I was taken by being addressed by my first name, which gave crested a country house atmosphere. If you are looking for large corporate nameless hospitality with large lounges then the Dock House is not for you. Ifyou are looking to be treated as an individual where there is a genuine desire to be helpful and anticipate needs, set in a beautiful well manicured garden, with a small pool, intimate bar area and professional spa then this hotel is for you. The breakfast buffet had everything you expect and scrambled egg is to die for. The Dock House is literally 50 yards from the centre of the V and A Waterfront where you are spoilt for good restaurants which Tyler and the team are happy to recommend. Whilst here try and drive down to the Cape a magical experience and don’t forget to see the Boulder penguins along the way. Oh and by the way the Dock House is part of the Newmark Waterfront Hotel collection which gives you a passport to additional six locations . Thank you Tyler and team we will definitely be recommending the Dock House to Audley Travel, friends and family and hope one day to return David and Caroline Stanford Read less
