The hotel itself is very well appointed with good facilities and comfortable rooms. The bathroom is open to the bedroom and close to one side of the bed and the bath tub whilst large has no grab handle to assist with exit. Not good for the older less able guests. The bathroom is open to the bedroom and close to one side of the bed and the bath tub whilst large has no grab handle to assist with exit. Not good for the older less able guests. The room was clean, tidy and well looked after. The pool is rather odd and for a Joburg hotel is was pretty cold too. Pool bar service was hit and miss and depended on who was on, there was one good, young guy who was helpful, but the others..... The bar service was average, with no sweet wine available, when offered a local port it turned out they had none, and would not get anymore because of the holiday period. Breakfast service was ok, apart from on Christmas Day, when the Mgr decided to shut down 1/2 hour early and was surly about letting us in with 15mins left. Not good. The location is excellent, with many restaurants within a short walk through the open air mall. Read less

We didn’t stay at the hotel but had a birthday breakfast celebration in a private dining area. Wow what a beautiful place, great service, good variety and choice of food. The buffet was stunningly displayed. The mains were also good. A red velvet cake with happy birthday encrypted in chocolate on the plate was welcomed. Good hot and cold drinks.

We loved our very short overnight stay here on our way home from our holiday in Botswana. After hours on the road the very friendly and efficient staff quickly got us settled. We booked the King rooms and these were spacious and extremely clean. Everything worked and we appreciated all the little touches such as the macarons on arrival and the turn down service. The hotel is in the heart of Melrose Arch and we had our pick of restaurants right outside the hotel. If you stay here, pay the extra for the rooms facing the pool. Ours faced the pedestrian walkway with all the restaurants and was noisy. We definitely would stay here again. Read less

I’ll definitely stay over at African pride again! The hotel is in a safe area where you can browse the streets leisurely, do shopping and have lunch at a street cafe. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful and could arrange an earlier check in for me. I received a welcome letter and cake in my room! The room is spacious and decorated with art… Read more
I’ll definitely stay over at African pride again! The hotel is in a safe area where you can browse the streets leisurely, do shopping and have lunch at a street cafe. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful and could arrange an earlier check in for me. I received a welcome letter and cake in my room! The room is spacious and decorated with art pieces from a famous local artist. The bedroom flows into the bathroom where a big bath tub awaits. The rainfall shower and toilet is nicely hidden behind a glass door. The pool was inviting and many guests had lunch there. I didn’t have breakfast as I had an early morning flight. Read less
