Image of the Tripadvisor rating They don’t even have a comb set for guests. And they call themselves part of Marriott?

Sep 15, 2019 lvanbrussel Antwerp, Belgium

Go to any star worthy hotel and they have a dental kit, shaving kit, vanity kit, etc. When you forgot one. Not this hotel. Not even a simple comb. Can’t call yourself Marriott. Should be offering this as a standard.

When checking in, we were told we had not paid for the room yet. We had in fact paid the full amount 9 months prior. After some confusion the (less than friendly) staff member finally acknowledged that we had paid. We then go up to our room, and this is where my major complaint lies. There were 2x single beds in the room. We went back down to the desk and asked if we could change this to one bed for us both. We were told "no, this is what you booked". I would not have booked two beds, as this stay was part of an around the world honeymoon trip. The staff were adamant that we could not change and I had booked 2 beds. So for the next two nights we had 2x small beds. I looked at the Qantas site where I booked the rooms and could then see the issue, it says "1 King Bed or 2 Twin Beds". I originally assumed we would be able to choose upon check-in. Apparently not? So maybe the site should have the option to specify which you require upon booking? I would not have booked the room if I had known there was only single beds. Other minor issues that made the stay even less appealing: * The room(s) gets hot and then freezing cold throughout the night. I don't think the thermostat works. * We used the minibar to store some dip that we purchased one night. The next morning it was frozen solid. There is an issue with the fridge. * The room was listed as "with city views". I'm not sure a view of the carpark is considered city views. I took the time to inform Marriott of our experience but my email was contemptuously ignored - which clearly confirm their lack of interest for the comfort of their guests. Read less

Complimentry shuttle bus to the Rosebank Mall and Sandton Mall, very handy and a must if you have no vehicle. Lovely checkin staff, and breakfast staff. Breakfast was included with my stay.. Automatic pancake machine a hit with me, and the choice of what you would like is amazing.. My room was lovely, and extremely clean, the huge kingsize bed was so comfy, the table and chairs were handy. Bar Fridge, and kettle and coffe/tea supplies. I stayed 2 nights 31/08/19 and 1/9/19. Separate huge smoking room, decor was fabulous and tv for sports fans. Top classy stay in Johannesburg. Read less
