Very warm welcome on arrival by dries and his team. The tented accommodation is very good: clean, spacious, very good quality beds (restonic) and linen. Very private for couples. Ideal. Very warm welcome on arrival by dries and his team. The tented accommodation is very good: clean, spacious, very good quality beds (restonic) and linen. Very private for couples. Ideal. Followed the game drive with Andrew spending his first season at mabula. Andrew’s knowledge, passion and respect for the wildlife is evident. It was the highlight of our stay without fail. Our main concern resides with the food offering. A) We were told that due to C19 the à la carte menu had been swapped for buffet. Clients are helping themselves to spoons and handles touched by all. Where is the hygiene? B) when at a game lodge we expect meat offering like steaks. Too many dishes ie pasta rice meat casseroles and even fish, laughing cow and baby bel for cheese!!! We went to speak to hilda who referred us to dries and his team. Octon the main chef accommodated us with cooking sirloin steaks to perfection and preparing salad. This made our stay a lot more enjoyable. All the waiters are incredibly smiley and helpful. But for such an establishment claiming 5*, the food quality and poor wine list is of great concern. Staff extremely attentive, food in abundance (but more salads and fruits would be appreciated!), nice game drives and luxury tents. Not too many tents so not too many people. Very relaxing weekend in the middle of the bush. We had a great stay !

We even had the luggage golfcart to assist my disabled mum. Food was in abundance and delishious. Guiding knowledge superb and very professional.… Read more

Seeing the spring bush come alive with babies, big and small five to been seen was pure African joy. Tents are glamping glamorous! We have had a much needed restorative break. Read less

The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms were amazing and the game drives were unforgettable. We saw everything we wanted to see and more. However the biggest downside was the food - it was adequate at best and quite basic. There were absolutely no vegetables or fresh salads available. One would expect a lot better for the monies asked. I trust this is addressed in terms of what is expected at these type of facilities for the sake of their other great offerings. Read less
