1) There's a shuttle from Sandton Station to the Hotel and to the Nelson Mandela Square which makes things very convenient for first time travellers who do not know the area. Tip: For a peace of mind for first time travellers (when it comes to safety concerns), take the Gautrain from OR Tambo to Sandton Station then take the hotel shuttle at the PT level of Sandton Stn to get to the hotel. This is an area of improvement for the hotel - Do mark or provide a directional map as to where your pick-up point is as PT level/Nelson Mandela Square is huge and there's different groups waiting for shuttles/minibus taxi everywhere and it gets confusing! Doesn't help that the van is marked 'The Maslow' and then 'Lacuna Bistro' right at the bottom. That confused me cause I thought it was for 'The Maslow Bistro' (who knows if there's a restaurant with an identical name. it happens) since 'Lacuna' is in it's curvy font which is not that legible. 2) There's a lounge for travellers whose room are not ready or whose flight are way after check out time. There's charging ports and really nice shower rooms with soaps and towels to freshen yourself up with. There's coffee machine, tea, pitcher of juice and fruits available as refreshments. Not that impressive a spread but you're getting this access for free so can't complain, that's good enough. 3) Decent breakfast. Spread was plentiful enough and of quality. There was cold pressed juice and the servers were always prompt with service. Being a vegetarian (who eats eggs) there were plenty enough for me to fill myself up in the morning. 4) Rooms were clean and new. Bedsheets were fresh looking. 5) Location is so-so as compared to the hotels in the area as it is still a distance from the shopping and hangout areas. Read less

Tambo, immediately adjacent to the airport, making your travel connections a joy. Similarly priced, it is far better in all categories than The Maslow. Swimming in the Intercontinental's spacious, heated, rooftop indoor spa pool comes with an incredible view. Read less

The hotel had arranged for transport from the airport, and when we arrived the staff was very attentive. The room was very spacious and clean, and the service at the restaurant was top notch. When we went out for the evening, they had even arranged for transport to and from the venue, so we felt safe and in good hands, meaning we could really enjoy the city at night. The hotel is in a great location in Sandton, and they offer a shuttle to Nelson Mandela Square for shopping and eating. There is also a shuttle that connects visitors to the city sightseeing bus, so seeing Johannesburg is made easier. Will stay again on my next trip to Joburg. Read less
