Jaci's Safari and Tree Lodge

Madikwe, South Africa

The hotel

Utterly authentic, this safari sanctuary sits in the world-renowned Madikwe Game Reserve and takes you back to nature at every opportunity. Its walking safaris and game-drives are just the start (although with this malaria-free reserve home to the 'Big Five' and wild dogs, it’s a pretty spectacular start). You’ll also find yourself taking night drives for a spot of astronomy and tucking into fire-cooked meals under a blanket of stars. Or hanging out in the waterhole’s submerged Terrapin Hide, waiting for a unique photo-opportunity of bathing elephants. (Don’t worry, Jaci’s Lodge has its own pool, so you can give in to the urge for a dip yourself). All this before settling in for the night in one of the incredible suites. Perhaps a Treehouse Suite on stilts? Or a Starbed Suite, letting you sleep beneath the night skies?

Words cannot describe how truly exceptional our stay at Jaci's Safari Lodge was!!! From the moment you arrive, you are treated like you are part of the family, with each and every staff member going beyond the call of duty to make your stay remarkable in every way. Their friendliness and warmth shown to guests is a gem in the industry, and really does set them apart from many other lodges. We stayed in the exceptional Starbed suite. OMW... star gazing in this beautiful setting makes you feel like you must be in heaven. The stunning decor, the amenities, the peace and tranquility of nature, just has to be experienced, to understand how truly exceptional it is. We had the priviledge of seeing buffalo, elephant and buck from the comfort of our suite. The game drives were excellent with FJ. Thank you to all the management and staff for making our stay so memorable and we will definitely recommend to others and will return for another stay. Read less

I had dreamed of visiting South Africa for over twenty years and spent numerous hours carefully choosing a safari lodge. Our time at Jaci’s was even better than anticipated. We stayed in a tented suite, and even on cold winter nights, we were comfortably warm. Our 10 and 12 year old slept well in the cots. The chefs and kitchen staff were fantastic about accommodating for food intolerances and made delicious meals. My husband loved the option to rent photography equipment, and we so enjoyed the incredible water-level view in the terrapin hide. The wildlife viewing on our drives and in the hide was something we will always cherish. The entire staff made us feel so welcome and cared for throughout our stay. Best of all, our ranger, Pierre, was truly exceptional. He made the safari experience absolutely unforgettable with his immense knowledge of wildlife and photography, his kind, fun nature with our kids, his strong work ethic, and his passion for what he does. We will remember the experience always and very fondly. Read less

After 15 days travelling through the Okavango Delta and being truly blessed with amazing sightings, guides, private camping, lodges and luxury lodges, we jumped across the border and into Madikwe. We weren't strangers to Madikwe, having visited last year but this was our first visit to Jaci's Safari Lodge and WOW, it raised the bar for our safari experience in Madikwe. From the moment we were met by Otto at Gaborone International Airport (Botswana) and driven to Madikwe, our initial greeting from Charl, through to our departure 4 nights later, the service was outstanding, the food was amazing, the room was superb, our guides Pierre and Otto were outstanding and the experience was simply FANTASTIC. Pierre and Otto were both awesome when it came to their knowledge on all creatures great and small which was really appreciated, they were prepared to invest time helping us to improve our photography skills and they really demonstrated their passion for the preservation of our planets wildlife. We will visit Jaci's again and really hope to catch up with Pierre and Otto again soon,. Read less

We recently returned from holiday in SA which kicked off with a 3 night stay at Jaci’s Lodge. I had been wanting to go on Safari for a long time, and had spent a lot of time imagining how wonderful it would be- expectations were high! and Jaci’s exceeded these on all fronts. The accommodation is outstanding- we were especially lucky to be allocated a StarBed suite and sleeping outside was a great experience. The main lodge is a lovely space to eat and relax in - the food is wonderful. The Terrapin Hide is a real gem, We had lots of close encounters there, mainly with elephants, which was perfect! I have to say that everyone involved with running Jaci’s was, without exception, incredibly friendly, helpful and did everything possible to make our stay perfect. I have to give special mentions to the manager, Charl and to the wonderful Beckson our guide, who was charming and an excellent guide. We saw so much on each of our drives and thoroughly enjoyed his company as well as that of our fellow passengers in the jeep. There were special touches everywhere which helped make our stay at Jaci’s the best holiday experience I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend Jaci’s highly enough and sincerely hope we will be able to return again one day. Read less
