Ivory Tree Lodge

Sun City, South Africa

The hotel

This lodge is unique for so many reasons that you’ll begin to forget which one you like the best. For starters, it’s located within one of the world’s largest extinct volcanic complexes and is surrounded by numerous African native animals including: springbok, cheetah, rhino, elephant and lion. The Ivory Tree Lodge has also been upgraded to fully represent contemporary luxury without detracting from the natural environment. A large swimming pool and guest areas are designed to provide relaxation and relief for groups and individuals. Meal times can be enjoyed inside or outside and you’ll be amazed at the fine dining options. Two lounge areas and two bars, one of which serves cocktails, provide the perfect evening location from where to reflect on your day’s adventures in the bush. If you’re looking for further activities, other than a ‘Big Five’ safari, then why not try getting involved with something cultural including interactive drumming sessions.

The best ever experience in South Afica (and i had a lot already). Staff and service extremly attentive and efficient, eithen the Covid situation. Not easy to do a safery wearing a Mask, but all staff and customer follow the rules and that create a very good atmosphere.. Also getting the big 5 in only 2 drive was awesome. especially the leopard.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous with the most comfortable beds and the food accommodates many different diets. Would highly recommend a massage at the spa and the bush walks

It is only about 2.5 hours from the airport and there is no need for malaria medication at Ivory Tree and the accommodations were amazing. It is only about 2.5 hours from the airport and there is no need for malaria medication at Ivory Tree and the accommodations were amazing. We only did a 2 days and 2 nights and got 4 game drives and we saw 4 of the Big 5 in those 2 days. Our guide was Kyle and he showed and taught us so much about the animals. We were lucky to have him. The hotel staff was amazing; all of the waiters, front desk staff and everyone in between were so friendly and helpful. Definitely would bring my family back. Read less

From arrival to departure and everything in between was excellent. Excellent, our shuttle driver, was also excellent. Sean, our game ranger was extremely informative. Definitely the place to go to and within good driving distance from Pretoria and Johannesburg.
