Ivory Tree Lodge

Sun City, South Africa

The hotel

This lodge is unique for so many reasons that you’ll begin to forget which one you like the best. For starters, it’s located within one of the world’s largest extinct volcanic complexes and is surrounded by numerous African native animals including: springbok, cheetah, rhino, elephant and lion. The Ivory Tree Lodge has also been upgraded to fully represent contemporary luxury without detracting from the natural environment. A large swimming pool and guest areas are designed to provide relaxation and relief for groups and individuals. Meal times can be enjoyed inside or outside and you’ll be amazed at the fine dining options. Two lounge areas and two bars, one of which serves cocktails, provide the perfect evening location from where to reflect on your day’s adventures in the bush. If you’re looking for further activities, other than a ‘Big Five’ safari, then why not try getting involved with something cultural including interactive drumming sessions.

My parents and I went to Ivory Tree Lodge this weekend for my parents first safari. The staff were amazing, the rooms were clean and the rangers were amazing. We got taken on 4 game drives with Evan, the head ranger. He was extremely knowledgeable about the park, the wildlife and the plant life. We would highly recommend this Lodge of you're… Read more

We arrived at the lodge on the 30 /4/2019 and we checked inn at the reception and we were told that we need to hurry up and leave our bags in the room as it was time to go for the dusk game drive, which we did. We came back to the reception and the drive was delayed by almost an hour because the lodge had Brazilian group (visitors)who needed to re-group for a quick meeting and we waited. When they were done with the meeting they started getting onto the cars and I also got on the car, but I was told get off from the car ,and allow the group to get on first, which I did. The group got on first and we waited for them and the cars started leaving without us ,including the car that we were allocated to for the ride and 4 of the cars has space for 2 or 1 person/s, including the one that we were allocated . I went to the reception to ask what happened no one could explain why were left behind ,despite the fact that there was a lot of space available. I was promised a refund in 7 days, when I phoned and emailed on the 2 May , my email was not responded and no one seem to know exactly when I will be getting my refund. We were told not to get on the cars , because everyone was white and the 2 of us are black individuals Read less

Our experience at the Ivory Tree Game Lodge, South Africa, was well above our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The service was friendly and professional. The room was clean and very comfortable and the food was excellent. The safari tours were exceptional and we were never disappointed with every trip we made.

Ivory Tree Lodge is in the lovely setting in the bush bordering the Pilanesberg. The lodge itself was very nice with good sized, well furnished rooms. The staff are very friendly. The game trips were interesting and gave a taste of the bush. The food however was mediocre and we had to cue for dinner. From late at night until early hours of the morning loud music could be heard from the nearby village and this really spoilt the tranquility because the main reason for going to the bush is for the peacefulness.
