Ivory Tree Lodge

Sun City, South Africa

The hotel

This lodge is unique for so many reasons that you’ll begin to forget which one you like the best. For starters, it’s located within one of the world’s largest extinct volcanic complexes and is surrounded by numerous African native animals including: springbok, cheetah, rhino, elephant and lion. The Ivory Tree Lodge has also been upgraded to fully represent contemporary luxury without detracting from the natural environment. A large swimming pool and guest areas are designed to provide relaxation and relief for groups and individuals. Meal times can be enjoyed inside or outside and you’ll be amazed at the fine dining options. Two lounge areas and two bars, one of which serves cocktails, provide the perfect evening location from where to reflect on your day’s adventures in the bush. If you’re looking for further activities, other than a ‘Big Five’ safari, then why not try getting involved with something cultural including interactive drumming sessions.

Very clean lodge, friendly staff, great amenities. The boma dinner experience under the stars was delightful. Highly recommended. We stayed with our 2 kids in a family suite. The little one was allowed on a bush bumble drive which we really enjoyed.

Amazing experience, with fantastic hospitality. A very knowledgeable guide Bongani who went out of his way to make sure we saw the big 5. Elephant sightings from our room balcony was the cherry on top.

From the time we drove in, the service was superb. We had a hostess who walked us through the lodge until we settled in the restaurant. Our server Jabu, made us feel welcome. Even the chef came through to greet us. The food was delicious, they have a set menu with only three options for each course. We did not sleep over, we popped in for lunch… Read more

On arrival, check-in was very quick to allow us to immediately go on a Game Drive. The resort held a vehicle back for us, as we arrived a little late. Joas, our Game Ranger was amazing, and literally went the extra mile to give us good sightings. His knowledge of birds is exceptional!! The rooms are beautiful and very clean. Just the finer attention to detail was missing - no facecloth, and 2-pin adaptor. The tea/coffee station was well appointed - Just a pity that there was no fresh milk!! A disappointing fact that absolutely no effort was made to accomodate mine and my daughters dietary needs, even though a request was sent. The resort is very large, and therefore it becomes a little impersonal. Read less
