Spier Hotel

Stellenbosch, Winelands

The hotel

Spier Hotel is a beautiful family-friendly hotel situated in Stellenbosch, next to the calming Eerste River, with a range of activities all within the hotel's grounds. The hotel part of Spier is set up like a village, with large rooms set in 2-storey buildings grouped around private courtyards each with their own pools and spacious gardens. The larger Spier resort is a 300-year-old wine farm which still features on-site wine tasting, plus a choice of restaurants including the farm-to-table Restaurant 'Eight', providing locally grown organic produce cooked to perfection. There's a picnic area with children's playground if a spot of outdoor dining takes your fancy and to keep everyone entertained the Spier is also home to Eagle Encounters, a bird of prey rehabilitation, education, conservation and eco-tourism centre. Spier Hotel is a place of good food, good wine and good hospitality.

Fantastic, well-appointed hotel. Lovely, helpful staff and a great layout. Plenty to do within the wine farm and well-located for other wine farms, Stellenbosch and Cape Town. I stayed for 9 nights for a conference on the premises.

I apologise that I'm only completing this review six months after staying there so I'm not really able to complete this in the manner it deserves. I had no complaints … everything was excellent, from the room to the food to the view to the facilities and the staff. I highly recommend your hotel!

We stayed 2 nights at Spier hotel, and had booked the adventure package. We had an absolutely magical stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Stellenbosch. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful all along our stay. Even when we managed to lock ourselves out of our room, everyone was trying to help and solve the situation as quickly as possible. Our room was very spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. We slept really well thanks to the very nice bed. The hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous, extremely green and well kept. There is a pool area which looked really nice, but we had so many activities to enjoy we didn't really have time to make the most of it. Food and drinks were absolutely amazing, wether at breakfast, at the picnic basket area, or at the wine tasting. As part of our package we took the Segway tour and had a great time. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable about the farm and the vineyards. Free parking is obviously available when you enter the estate. Thanks again to everyone for a marvellous stay, our only regret is not staying longer! Read less

Me and my friends had the best time ever at this hotel. We were amazed by how they're worried about every detail, the garden, the cleaning, the conservation state. They care about the environment and the wild animals. We had the best and cozy treatment, everybody was so nice to us. Special thanks for Avela, a very caring person, and everybody on… Read more
