We had a very difficult time choosing which resort to stay at when visiting Zanzibar, but we are beyond glad that we chose to stay at the Park Hyatt. Everything about this hotel is perfect. We arrived tired, but the staff quickly gave us refreshments and a swift, knowledgeable checkin before being led to our room, which we chose to have an ocean view. Our room had beautiful, intricate details that totally fit in with its heritage (it's a UNESCO site) and these small details made all the difference. Not only did the hotel pay attention to design and practicality, but it also prides itself on its sustainability. Each day, we woke up to fresh breakfasts and beautiful views topped with unparalleled service. Not only were we able to relax during our stay at the Park Hyatt, but the hotel's prime location to Stone Town also enabled us to take a stroll through the historic streets and visit the markets. The hotel was great! The staff were extremely welcoming, especially Victoria, who would always swing by to check in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. It was an amazing place to recoup and adjust prior to a long flight back to the states. It also made us feel safe given temperature checks each time we entered the hotel. Read less

We were feeling awful after 35 hours of travel but what a place to bounce back from jet lag! A gentleman named Fauzi took care of everything we needed and our stay was perfect. I can still hear birds singing in the lobby and falling asleep to the waves crashing against the beach. Full views of the Indian Ocean from both balconies and even the bathtub. We took all of our meals outdoors overlooking the water. In Zanzibar for several weeks, we were booked at several properties around the island. However, we cancelled one due to lack of creature comforts and came back to be spoiled at the Park Hyatt. We spent the end of our trip at a resort in Matemwe and found ourselves with 7 hours to spend in Stone Town before our 9pm flight home. Fauzi offered to watch our car and luggage and invited us inside to rest before our flight, even though we were no longer their guests. We can't wait to go back! Read less

I stayed at the Park Hyatt for 3 nights on the day they reopened post COVID and had a wonderful stay. Hyatt benefits were recognized and we received a splendid Deluxe Room with 180 views on the beach. The room is beautifully decorated; the stand alone bathtub being the highlight. I loved the Omani architecture with its open spaces, and the direct beach access. The beach is public, which means it is not the cleanest, but the overlooking infinity pool solves this problem and the fishermen and beachgoers offer a wonderful spectacle as one sips drinks from the deck. I was surprise to see that the restaurant isn't ranked higher on this review site, as I thought the food was excellent and by far the best we had in Zanzibar. Fish dishes were fresh and splendidly presented; desserts were top notch and quite sophisticated. All of the Hyatt corporate COVID measures were implemented as far as I could tell (e.g. masks). Alas, these restriction impact the hotel's 5* services: daily housekeeping is on request, there is no turndown service, and breakfast buffets won't come back until 2050; I do feel for management and the associates who are doing a fantastic job. It was a pleasure to stay and I hope I can come back during a more normal time. Read less
