Zuri Zanzibar Hotel & Resort

Zanzibar, Tanzania

The hotel

The beach steals the show at Zuri Zanzibar, with its cashmere-soft sands unaffected by the island's tides. But, as you make your way to its private shore, the Zuri throws many distractions your way. There are the winding paths through its spice gardens, where private pods promise quiet meditation and Swahili cookery lessons. There are the massages of MAUA Wellness. There are the tempting scents from its restaurants and bars. And there are the sumptuous suites and villas (where an All Inclusive upgrade can give you added indulgences and seclusion). And finally, just moments from Kendwa Beach's sands, a sleek infinity pool tempts you in for a dip with ocean views.

My wife and I spent an unforgettable 8 days at Zuri Zanzibar. Everything was absolutely perfect. Maybe that is precisely the reason that we have already booked a stay for next year and we will always be happy to come back. One of the best places we have visited so far. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went to Zuri Zanzibar (Beautiful Hotel with eco/chic design) for the Yoga classes. Manuela the instructor is very professional and creative. She uses lots of different approaches to yoga, meditation, coaching and healing. Such an amazing resort with beautiful beach in North Zanzibar, I would definitely comeback to this beautiful place. During our stay a chief from Belgium was there for couple of days, the food we had was the best in the island.

Trip Advisor won’t let me give 4.5 stars, but that’s my overall rating. This resort is absolutely beautiful and close to perfect. There are, however, a few things holding it back: uneven customer service and a odd design flaw that made our room rather slippery (I’ll explain). Let’s start with what is perfect: the beach. Easily one of the top five beaches I’ve ever been too. Water is a lovely blue, sand is soft, and there are plenty of lounge chairs with shade for relaxing. And most importantly, Zuri’s beach isn’t impacted by the tide like other resorts. There is always plenty of beach and the water is never too far way. The pool is perfect as well. I could spend hours in the pool at Zuri. It’s the perfect temperature. Large enough to accommodate multiple guest without being overcrowded. The food at the hotel is good as well. Some nights there is a set menu, which was one of our best meals. Some nights there is a buffet, which was good as well. Breakfast was standard with many options. The beach bbq was also great. But be warned: the seafood for two option was sooo much food! We enjoyed our night doing the seafood bbq—it’s a really nice set up. The resort is beautifully designed and artfully decorated. Very lush and beautiful space. There are a few flaws, some of which I can’t truly complain about (some of the lights in the room were hung rather low and we kept bumping our heads) but one that I would like to raise. The floors in the rooms were quite slippery. So much so that my partner and I slipped and fell a few times. We couldn’t use any towels or rugs on the floor in the bathroom, and had to wear our sandals while in the room. Luckily we weren’t hurt, but I could see this becoming a problem. And as I previously mentioned, service is a bit uneven. At times, staff were friendly and quick. At other times, staff was standoffish and slow. There were only two people working the beach area one day, and it took quite a while to get a menu, then to order, and to eventually get our food and drinks. Another thing: there are tons of stairs! But you can call reception to get a lift if necessary. The only place I don’t think is accessible by golf cart is the beach. Overall, this is place is close to perfect. If your top priority is enjoying the beach/pool, this is it. Seriously. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Read less
