The Madikwe & Marataba Flying Safari combines two of South Africa’s finest lodges with exciting transfer by light aircraft and it’s such an amazing offer, the flights are free! Hop between Johannesburg and the Madikwe Game Reserve and Marakele National Park spotting the 'Big Five' and enjoying some of South Africa’s best cuisine. Experiences are key in these lodges, relax by the pool at Madikwe, while elephants and giraffe enjoy the water-hole just steps away or enjoy a cruise on Lady Mara spotting hippos snorting along the river with a backdrop of the magnificent mountains beyond.
Day 1: Depart Johannesburg
Jumbo and a warm welcome to South Africa! Arrive in Johannesburg airport were you will be met and transfer to the Grand Central airstrip to take the internal flight with Angel Gabriel Airways to Madikwe Safari Lodge for 3 nights. Madikwe is a richly diverse game reserve in South Africa’s North West Province on the border with Botswana. The malaria-free reserve spans 76,000 hectares and is one of the largest in the country, offering a 'Big Five' safari experience plus wild dog and many more species of mammals and birdlife. (D)
Days 2–3: Madikwe Safari Lodge
Daily activities at Madikwe Safari Lodge. Enjoy an early wake up for your game-drive into the park, Madikwe Safari Lodge is in the north eastern corner, renowned for being one of the best regions in the park for game-viewing. Between game-drives enjoy a sumptuous brunch by the pool whilst watching elephants and giraffe wandering by for a drink by the well-located waterhole. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Fly to Marataba Safari Lodge
Take an internal flight to Marataba Safari Lodge, which enjoys a unique location and boasts stunning views of the Waterberg Mountains. The lodge is located in a 23,000 hectare private concession within the Marakele National Park. Accommodation consists of canvas and stone tents which are are dotted along the tree line facing the mountains, if you are celebrating a special occasion why not book yourself into the Thabametsi Treehouse and spend the night under the stars (extra cost). Days 5–6: Marataba Safari Lodge
Daily activities at Marataba Safari Lodge. The Marakele offers a diverse range of wildlife and an immense number of mammals, as well as the Big Five, you may also be lucky enough to spot some of the Shy Five such as Bat Eared Fox, Aardwolf or an elusive Pangolin. (B/L/D)
Day 7: Return to Johannesburg
Depart Marataba for the Johannesburg Grand Central airstrip, you will then be transferred to Johannesburg OR Tambo airport for your onward travel arrangements. (B)
