The Pride of Tsavo Safari offers you the chance to explore some of Kenya’s most magical sights as it takes you on a 4-day journey of discovery! Taking its name from the Masai word for ‘river,’ Tsavo is located at the crossing of the Uganda Railway and is home to a whole host of flora and fauna, most of which can be seen during the game-drives included in this fantastic safari tour. 

Itinerary

Day 1: Mombasa — Tsavo West

Depart from your Mombasa beach hotel and drive to Kilaguni Serena Lodge in Tsavo West (approximately 5 hours from the South Coast). Lunch is served at the lodge and is followed by an afternoon game-drive. Visit the Mzima Springs to spot hippos from an underwater viewing hide. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena Lodge. (L/D)

Day 2: Ziwani

After breakfast drive through Tsavo West to Ziwani Tented Camp close to the border with Tanzania (approximately 2 hours). After lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure viewing hippos in the river or opt to take a guided nature walk. In the evening enjoy a night-drive in search bush babies, genet cats, porcupine, grazing hippos and even some elusive big cats. Return to camp for dinner and overnight at Ziwani Tented Camp or similar. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Ngutuni Game Sanctuary

Enjoy an early morning nature walk before continuing to Ngutuni Safari Lodge, situated in the 10,000 acre Ngutuni Game Sanctuary adjoining Tsavo East (approximately 2 hours 30 minutes). Lunch is followed by an afternoon game-drive in Tsavo East where elephants, lions, buffalos, kudus, zebras and giraffes can be seen. Dinner and overnight at Ngutuni Safari Lodge or similar. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Return to Mombasa

There's time for an early morning game-drive in the private sanctuary before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Afterwards return to Mombasa (approximately 3 hours) arriving at your coast hotel early afternoon. (B)

Accommodation

Occasionally we may need to substitute one or more of the lodges with that of a similar standard, also adverse weather conditions could mean a lodge or itinerary needs to be altered.

Transportation

We use specially designed and strengthened, modern 4x4 safari Land Cruisers which have large pop-up roofs for extended wildlife viewing and photography. Safari vehicles have 7 seats, all of which are window seats, so you are guaranteed a great view.

Journey times

Kenya in a vast country and hence journey times between resorts/towns can at times be long. Journey times are listed in the itinerary and are approximate.

Luggage

We recommend taking soft sided holdalls as this can be transported more easily in the 4x4 vehicles. Group size There is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 people per vehicle.

We are continually reviewing our flying schedules, taking into account the  Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice against all non-essential travel. Depending on when you are due to travel, your holiday may be affected and we’ll email you to let you know as least 21 days before travel.

For extra piece of mind, new bookings made before 30 September 2020 for travel up 30 April 2021 also have the flexibility to amend free of charge. If you need to change don’t worry, you can move your holiday as far out as 31 December 2021 subject to availability.

Payment flexibility


Don’t worry if you’ve missed a payment or just need a little more time to pay; we have options available to help you. If your holiday is going ahead as planned, you can continue to pay for your holiday in Manage my booking, even if travelling in less than 12 weeks. If you’re unsure, you can delay any additional payments by choosing a new time to travel by requesting a call back in Manage My booking for one of our team to look at options. If your holiday is more than 6 months away, you may wish to set up a Direct Debit to spread the cost. This can be arranged whilst rebooking or afterwards in Manage my booking.

We're flexible with your holiday plans


We understand that you may wish to change your holiday plans and we appreciate the need for flexibility.

You're holiday is going ahead as planned


If we haven’t notified you of any changes, your holiday will be going ahead as planned but if you prefer to move your holiday to a later time we can help. You can call our team on 0344 472 9499 who can look at options for you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding


Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.

To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
