The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls by Anantara

Livingstone, Zambia

The hotel

Bathed in the shade of Acacia trees, the raw splendour of this special environment blends beautifully with this exceptional hotel. Reaching new levels of luxury and sophistication, this is the place for the discerning traveller, with every detail crafted to capture all the opulence of a bygone Africa. Set inside the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, zebra, giraffe and monkey roam freely through the grounds. Stretched along the forested banks of the River Zambezi, you can pass lazy days on the magnificent sun deck overlooking the river with the deck seemingly within touching distance of the rainbow-infused mist of the magnificent falls. Enjoy a sumptuous traditional high tea served every afternoon on the terrace taking in that view again, you may even catch a glimpse of hippos. The thatched-roof buildings have handsome rooms with cream-coloured walls and dark wood, and they all point the right way - towards the Zambezi. The restaurant serves renowned international cuisine and the Anantara Spa offers all kinds of treatments including Ukuchina - a traditional Zambian massage.

Visited the Royal Livingstone in Zambia to celebrate my sons 16th birthday. Booked tours with Bushtracks. From the time I arrived to the moment we left we were treated with friendliness that I have not experienced at any other resort ever and I travel quite a bit. We were greeted upon arrival by Edward with an amazing dance routine and attire. It made us feel very welcome. The lady at reservations arranged a small cake as a surprise for my son which really made his birthday extra special. Every single person we encountered greeted us with a smile from the gardeners to the maintenance people. Even the general manager made a point to come by and greet us personally. I must mention Kenneth, one of the gardeners who made a point of coming up to my kids and offering to show them giraffe that were on the grounds. The staff are truly amazing and you can see that they have a genuine interest in making their guests feel welcome. The setting and location of the hotel is amazing. You can relax at the pool or restaurant while zebra and giraffe roam the grounds and experience the most romantic sunset! The rooms are very comfortable and the beds and pillows are some of the most comfortable that I’ve slept on. I highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely go back. Thank you to the management and staff for making our visit unforgettable Read less

Sadly did not live up to it's 5 star status ,far too many staff not knowing what they are doing, very disappointing food, service appalling when one did manage to get ones attention. If only everything else matched its 5 star position.
