Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Victoria Falls, Zambia

The hotel

Set around a wildlife-rich waterhole just 4km from Victoria Falls, this laid-back lodge brings together the thrill of a safari setting with the bucket list experience of seeing Zimbabwe’s biggest crowd-puller. The falls may be what draw the travellers to this part of Africa, but a stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge also gives you moments like dining on delicious dishes at MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant as you gaze down at elephants, buffalo, or kudu relaxing around the waterhole; or sipping sundowners at Buffalo Bar as you watch the sun set over the African bush; or experiencing the local drama of The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show. It may be the location, the views, or just its fuss-free, low-key attitude, but the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents voted this lodge the Best Safari Lodge/Resort Hotel in Zimbabwe for 20 years in a row.

Arrival: quick, personal, refreshing with a welcome drink and cool towel, sets the scene for the service and friendliness you are to have and can expect. Room: waterhole facing, various animals come and go, including giraffes, elephants and water buffaloes among the impala etc. Comfortable and well appointed, excellent shower, comfortable bed with the safety of the mosquito nets making it truly rustic, quiet rooms away from the main lodge eating/ bar areas. The air con works a treat when it’s hot; but you definitely want to keep the door open to continue viewing the beautiful scenery. The door even has a fly/ security screen! Everything you could possibly want. Breakfast: buffet, all the essentials with exotic seasonal fruits (mangos yum), delicious yoghurts and hot buffet as well as order off a menu. This is amazingly complemented by the views you get a breakfast and staff pointing out the animals in the distance. Not uncommon to see a giraffe among lots of others having a drink! Bar/deck: Sunset here alone is a magical experience. The cocktails are delicious and have you wanting mkre. The food is excellent. The only problem is it’s difficult to try everything on the menu in such a short stay. Staff: Each and every staff member, particularly the restaurant / bar / pool bar waiters were incredible! Always a friendly smile, always going above what is expected to ensure you’re satisfied. Not a single complaint over 4 days. Reception, guest services and tourism desk are again wonderful. There’s a shuttle every hour to town! There are many activities that can be organised through the hotel or in town. Obvious must do’s: - Victoria Falls (i would suggest doing it from the Zambian side as well) - A cycle around town including the areas where the locals are - Cross into Zambia if your visa allows - Eat! amazing food everywhere - Immerse yourself into Zimbabwean culture and the friendly people (if VF represents the attitude, culture and views of all Zimbabwean then this would be one of the best African countries by far!) We would of loved to do the Boma but unfortunately you need more than 4 days to exploit this area! Read less

I actually dont know where to start. So I have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world, Maldives, Italy, Zanzibar & Mauritius to name a few. I could go on and on about every detail about how great this place is but… Read more

The Vic falls safari lodge is hands down the best place I have ever stayed in. The Hotel staff is the friendliest world wide. I could go on and on about every detail about how great this place is but that would spoil the surprise for future guests. I will just end this review with "GO THERE!!! YOU WONT BE SORRY!" Read less

Nice but the overall experience is average. Do not go for the Boma drum dinner! Such a waste of money. The suite was nice and well equipped but the cleaness could been better. We needed to clean our feet before we got to bed. The breafast was nice and also their cocktails at the pool area which we can recommend.

The meals were good but the buffet for breakfast wasn’t hot or fresh and the scrambled eggs were not very nice. In saying that they had a great variety of food and the pool and rooms were amazing. The staff were nice as well

Our two nights staying at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge was the start of a 4 week African holiday and was an amazing experience. We were picked up at the airport by a friendly driver in a air conditioned van for the 20 minute drive to the lodge. Our welcome by reception and Memory from client services was friendly and helpful and our 2 day stay was planned promptly. We stayed in room 58 which had a lovely view of the waterhole, it was large and clean with typical safari decor. There was free wifi, AC, safe and a bar fridge. The large comfortable bed was a 4 poster with a mosquito net which was put down at the turn down service each night. The bathroom was a good size with a walk-in rain shower. There was complimentary toiletries and hairdryer. The restaurant and the Buffalo Bar had fabulous views of the waterhole which had spot lights on it at night a great spot for a G & T on the deck. The Boma Drum show was a great night out and included in our tariff as was the wonderful Sunset river cruise a highlight of our stay. Their vulture show is run at 1pm daily for 15 minutes and is worth a viewing. Their are 2 sparkling swimming pools also overlooking the waterhole with complimentary beach towels available. We didn’t use the complimentary shuttle bus to town. Overall The Safari Lodge was wonderful place to enjoy wildlife and the friendly and efficient hospitality of the staff. Read less
