The Cityview

Virgin rating

The hotel

The Cityview knows its audience. In one of the world’s most dynamic metropolises, this urban outpost delivers the slick city styling, high-tech touches, handy hotel features, and ‘centre-of-everything’ location every discerning international traveller’s after. Bang-on-trend, you’re greeted by a living plant wall that sets the tone of this modern downtown Kowloon hotel. While the styling, fitness zone, and international buffet may feel reassuringly familiar, the Cantonese cuisine of The Balcony and Thai tastes of Amazing (served under a plant-draped pergola for that ‘al fresco dining’ feel), give an exciting flavour of the East – one backed up by its location in the entertainment and shopping district, just steps from Yau Ma Tei subway station and near Hong Kong’s famous markets.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Tiniest room I've ever stayed in.

Smallest room. Cramped and claustrophobic. Queen 'deluxe' corner room with tiny window. Good location though for Nathan Road markets and bus routes to ferry to HK Island. Buffet breakfast had ample choice of hot and cold food. Nice restaurant on site.

Our travel agent booked this hotel as part of a package. It was booked as 4 star, but I would challenge this rating: The very helpful reception staff told us we had an up-graded room, but ours was really small. There was no drawer space at all and only one single wardrobe which also housed the safe. There was no case stand, so to change clothes each day, we had to haul our suitcases onto the bed, sort out what to wear, close them up again and stand them up again, next to a wall, further reducing our floor space. Neither could we slide the cases under the bed, as it was a solid base. Similarly, the bathroom was cramped. Clearly the designer never had to use the bathroom, otherwise they would have banged their head on a shelp which was directly above the sink, only some 30cm above it. Positively, though, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable: the consierge were all helpful and very pleasant. Also, it what universe does a 4 star hotel still get away with rubbish sachets of powdered coffee/milk that we had to ask for when we wanted extra? I think the hotel (based on our room experience) would be acceptable for a one-night stay, but not for anything longer. Overall, we were not very impressed. Read less

Fantastic location! 2 minutes walk to the MTR station and several bus stops nearby. Also, conveniently located just outside Nathan Rd. Room was large and comfortable! Staff was very friendly as well. Elevators were plentiful and really made for a pleasant visit to HK! And go Kathy!

My family (4 people) chose this hotel because of its reasonable price, safety and location. I think it's a good choice. The hotel is located near the MTR Yau Ma Tai and has convenience stores nearby. The room was clean.
