Island Shangri-La Hong Kong

Hong Kong, Asia and Far East

The hotel

The Island Shangri-La has captured the glamour and glitz of bygone Hong Kong perfectly. It comes filled with decadent extras and a subtle refined demeanour, which quietly prove it’s a little more special than your standard city pad. We’re talking colossal chandeliers, a multi-storey silk painting, complimentary luxuries for Horizon Club guests in its club lounge, a serene outdoor pool fringed by skyscrapers, and huge picture windows framing views of the harbour or Victoria Peak. Its eight dining choices range from Michelin starred feasts and an ward-wining grill to casual pastries but, linked to the Pacific Place mall, its location also puts you among the island’s finest dining venues, as well as premier shopping and cultural attractions.

Very nice upscale hotel. It is conveniently located and connected to Pacific Place; transportation is convenient. Rooms are massive, the sea view is slightly inferior, but it’s doable. The service is superb, very good breakfast

We all know the ISL. Shangri-La and their beautiful properties. Honestly it was a steal with the price as the Hong Kong is in trouble due to protests, lower financial ratings and the most recent issue regarding Corona Virus. I just had to book the hotel for at least a night as the deal was too good to not take it. Each and every one of the staff greeted me with a smile, and knew my last name within 5 minutes of check-in. Cafe Too is known in HK to be one of the best buffets in town, and I understand why the Shangri-La company has a loyal customer following. I was visiting my parents for the Lunar New Year but I wanted to enjoy my vacation thus I booked a nights stay at the ISL. I got to see long lost friends, got a free upgrade and had a blast at my beautiful and spacious room. For FITs it goes without saying that HK is one of the smallest properties and it is always a challenge with space efficiency. Although the hardware is indeed a little dated, the software (the magnificent team and the synergy of all the staff) really gave me a warm welcome. Thank you for a great time at the ISL. Hopefully I'll gain enough $ to stay in your properties in the future. Cheers, Peter JH W Read less

I called up Shangrila to ask if they can made some concessions to the terms of my advance purchase. The concierge told me to email them regarding my change of plans and my concerns. The next day I got a reply. Island Shangrila approved my change of date with no extra charge And refunded me for 2 nights which I did not use. The amount is not much but Island Shangrila's gesture was priceless Shangrila, you've got Class. Read less

The attached photo says it all. My family and I chose to stay at the Island Shangri-La due to reviews and our previous experiences at other Shangri-La properties. We routinely stay at one of the properties at Pacific Place. Our room was on the 41st floor, and was a deluxe king. The room was very standard for a property at this price point but was showing signs of wear and tear. If you hold status with the Shangri-La group, you will not receive any benefits nor collect status points if you book through a third party provider eg Booking.com and the like. You will only receive your benefits and points ONLY IF YOU BOOK DIRECTLY with the hotel. I was unaware of this and completely missed out, further devaluing my experience. In summary, for the price point there are many other better hotels at Pacific Place and Hong Kong and in general. Read less
