The Golden Triangle is centred around the three cities of Rajasthan; Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. This vast desert state is where Rajput princes ruled for centuries in extravagant splendour, so you can expect some beautiful palaces and maze like forts, a highlight being the Taj Mahal in Agra. The Taj Mahal is a literal labour of love. The great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, built this exquisite white marble mausoleum for his favourite queen, Mumtaz Mahal. The monument was commissioned in 1631 and took 20,000 artisans 22 years to complete
Our Golden Triangle tour is our most popular and as well as visiting the three cities it also takes you to Ranthambore National Park. Home to the famous Royal Bengal Tiger, this park is one of the oldest and largest in India so sightings are frequent. As well as tigers you may be lucky enough to spot leopards, jungle cats, hyenas, deer, crocodiles and over 270 species of birds. Our tours include permits for the tiger parks but these are limited so we recommend booking early.
Southern India’s prized jewel, Kerala is a lush and tropical getaway filled with rolling hills, tea plantations and fringed with a tropical coast and stunning hotels. The mix of colonial and Asian charms around the busy port of Kochi (Cochin), the gentle pace of life on the backwaters and the beauty of the hills make Kerala an outstanding destination full of natural and cultural diversity. The highlight to our Spice Land of Kerala tour is spending a night cruising the canals and lagoons of the backwaters on your very own Houseboat.
Whether you’re looking for a short stay in India or a once in a lifetime trip to all the major sightseeing spots, our Independent India programme is sure to have something to suit your needs. You can visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, take in the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal in Agra or simply relax on the serene backwaters of Kerala. Internal flights are quick, easy and inexpensive so getting from one place to the other couldn’t be simpler.

Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.
To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
You can contact our team by emailing feedback.backhome@virginholidays.com to discuss options on unused portions of your holiday. If you need to contact our team about amending an existing holiday or requesting a refund please log in to manage my booking.
