InterContinental Bali Resort

Kuta, Bali

The hotel

Set in tropical gardens and overlooking Jimbaran Bay on the island’s southern coast, the InterContinental Bali Resort is as beautiful as its surrounds, blending traditional Balinese architecture with modern convenience. There’s a wealth of accommodation options to choose from suiting both families, couples and groups of friends, each and every room or suite packed with home-from-home comforts. Choosing what to do each day is nothing less than a joy. There are six swimming pools to sample and water sports aplenty down at the beach. Children will adore time spent at Planet Trekkers, boasting its own swimming pool, climbing frame and mini-basketball compound. There’s also a range of activities they can join in, getting to know their fellow mini guests! Whilst they’re busy, why not head to the spa? A world-class facility, there are plenty of treatments to choose from, including a Pure Indulgence ritual and the Golden Lulur, which includes an aromatherapy flower bath – pure bliss! Dining is also a treat – feast on pizza by the pool, the barbecued catch of the day or the finest Japanese cuisine. There is also live music come sundown and traditional Balinese shows – rounding off the day perfectly.

It’s difficult to write a review of a hotel we both felt was the best hotel we have ever stayed at, simply because it does not sound believable It is a five star hotel so expect a certain level but you get much more. The customer service is personalised to every guest, at breakfast it is enquired by your name how you slept and whether they can do anything. The food is superb at every restaurant. The whole place is so clean and well looked after. The swimming pools have been designed to have a number of smaller pools that the children were delighted with as well as the main larger pool for adults There is a well designed area for parents to be able to keep children out of the sun The beach is mostly sandy and very quiet but the surf is quite strong There is entertainment every night but it is unobtrusive and very good What enchanted us most was that the corridors outside our room were in a square with a courtyard and trees planted- birds nested every night in the trees with the most gentle twittering Read less

This is the most fantastic property, not just a hotel but a resort. Fabulous gardens complete with ducks, great swimming pools and just a step to the beach. We rode bikes around the property and they even have a walking track and gym. Lots of lounges around the pool and the beach. Breakfast buffet is better than anything we have seen in the word including the Ritz Carlton Singapore Sunday brunch (without the alcohol). Free flowing cold water on offer down by the beach. Great dining choices at the Italian and Japanese with free flowing beer, wine, sake and soft drinks at a set price. A short taxi ride to Kuta (AUD $7) to the tailor and the optometrist. There are many great local restaurants around the hotel so when I read from other people they could not find any restaurants they clearly did not do their research. There was a laundry just outside the front of the hotel to the left that did our washing for $1AUD per kilo. Many thanks to all the team members but especially to Mr Johnny, Front Office Manager who did so much for us during our 2 week stay. We were very happy to be recognised as IHG members and the treatment we received was fabulous and without exception. All team members were so nice and everyone knew who we were and went out of their way to ensure we had the best holiday possible. We are looking at going back next year at the same time but it already appears that the price has increased $1,000 for 2 weeks for a lower room category, how can that be? Read less

And the team at Taman Gita went out of their way every morning to chat with us. Especially Widi, Aswatama, and the chef who taught us Balinese cooking. We also loved the fabulous location, right on the beach, plenty of chairs, big pool, and next to seafood galore. One of our favorites was watching sunsets at Sunset Beach Bar and Grill. The Balinese dinner was okay, fire dance was good, except they had some speaker problems which were very distracting. Read less

This is a resort rather than simply hotel. Facilities are very good indeed and staff is always helpful. Food is good, yet pricey when compared to the local restaurants. Offer for the breakfast, on the other hand, as well as food quality are second to none. The resort is positioned on the beach, and everything and anything that you need to enjoy a lazy day in a sunshade is available. In the evening, some 100 m away from the hotel, there are some 20-30 bars and restaurants that offer beach dining. The main attractions are freshly grilled fish and local foods. These are not a part of the resort, but are a part of attraction. Visit them as well! Read less
