This is an older hotel that is spread in a very big area so the hotel has a big well kept garden in it. At the garden they have caged bunnies, several chicken, and even turkeys roaming around but they never seem to harm the guests. The hotel rooms have been renovated so they are nice and new looking. The other parts of the hotels are still under renovation however they have kept it going quite neatly so it does not disturb the guests too much. The downside is that you would not be able to have the view from the main swimming pool. The lobby is quiet, and offers good seats allowing guests to just chill there without the feeling of sitting at a hotel lobby. Perhaps that is because the reception is some 20 meters away from the lobby so one would not be disturbed too much about cars leaving and arriving. The breakfast area is now hosted on the beach which is very nice. From the restaurant area you can just walk along the beach that connects one restaurant after another. On weekends the locals do go to the beach too to enjoy themselves and there are plenty of food sellers on the beachside. For a small amount you can take a taxi to go to main part of Sanur for more choices of restaurants or gelato or some shopping. if I am asked for a suggestion, that will be for the hotel to put up some gentle background music because the whole place feels very quiet in the evening. However my husband liked it just the (quiet) way it is. :-)) I would recommend this hotel , or would come an stay here again in the future. Read less

Quite remiss of me not to have written this review earlier, but all good things come to those that wait!! This was our second visit to Segara, first one 22 years ago, and I must say we could not fault anything. We stayed in the Adults(Segara Village 2) only section which is away from the main pool but it has is own pool. Quite shaded but also very quite. Our room was adequate and very clean, large bathroom with seperate shower and bath. Great amenities.Large TV and small lounge. Outside nice patio with small lounge. You can also order food and drinks from here. Turn down service and nighty chocolate on pillow. Also with this accomodation you receive free afternoon tea and nightly cocktails with canapes for 2 hours and you can choose to have breakfast either at buffet or in the Birdhouse Beach Club. A great deal. Food was delicious in all the different oulets, the patisserie especially, and all resonably priced. Service can be a bit slow in restaurant on beach but who's in a hurry. Had a spa treatment there as well, was ok but the girls doing the massages in front on beach were great . Yes you do get hassled but thats their way of getting business. Just be polite. The main pool in village was quite large with plenty of sun lounges and food and drink services. Beach if front has net and is very clean. Evening there was music of all sorts in the Beachhouse, lovely sitting outside watching the world go by sipping cocktails. There is a long paved walk way along the length of beach with numerous cafes, bars, shops and massage places. Was ideal for my husband who uses a mobility scooter which attracted a lot of interest from the locals. The village itself is quite large, with beautiful gatdens, another smaller pool with swim up bar and another pool again. Childrens play area, birds and bunnies in a cage, and the resident rooster with his brood. The staff, well they are all adorable, friendly, helpful and cant do enough for you. The girls at the bfast buffet would see us comiing and run to get a cushion for my husband. We did a few tours but having been there before were happy to relax in this lovely setting. I really dont think you could de better either for couples of family. Yes will will return but not wait 22 years again. Read less

We booked this hotel for our winter holiday getaway and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Here are my comments on the following areas: -Service: The hotel’s service is excellent and we felt completely comfortable our entire stay. -Construction: Prior to booking this hotel, I was notified through Hotels.com that the hotel was under construction, but didn’t realize that meant the main pool. So we were a bit disappointed when we didn’t get to enjoy the stunning ocean views from the main infinity pool that were so beautifully advertised in photos on Hotels.com. (In hindsight, I should have checked the hotel’s website directly where they are completely transparent about the construction). Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our time and made full use of the other two pools on the property, which included the pool at the Jacuzzi Bar. The construction is also very far from guest rooms, so we were never bothered by the noise unless we walked through it to get to the beach. -Restaurant/Daily Breakfast Buffet: The hotel also did an excellent job of moving their restaurant to an impressive, temporary structure right on the beach. So each morning, we would enjoy our breakfast with an ocean view. The breakfast buffet was more than sufficient for our needs, and provided an excellent variety of western foods in addition to some local dishes. -Location: I really liked that this hotel was within walking distance of the night market, where we would go almost every evening to enjoy local cheap eats. It was also extremely close to two other popular local restaurants, Warung Nasi Bali Men Weti and Warung Mak Beng (note: these places are not for the faint of heart). Additionally, it’s further up the main drag and away from most of the other hotels, so it’s very quiet. Spa: With the pool clubhouse under construction, I believe the spa has been temporarily relocated inside of some revamped guest rooms. I booked a massage and facial and had a wonderful experience. The price was fair given that it was done at the resort. -Laundry: Since my husband and I started traveling internationally, we’ve committed to traveling with just carry-ons. While we enjoy the convenience of avoiding long lines at the airport, the trade-off is that we’re dependent on laundry services to get us through our travels. One of the reasons we chose Bali for this trip was to save some cash, and like many other developing countries, we expected our laundry service to be fairly inexpensive. The hotel did provide excellent laundry service, but we were shocked at the prices. With our minds set on vacation mode, we completely overlooked the prices listed on the laundry ticket and we were quite surprised when our final bill was more than $200 USD. In all fairness, we didn’t complain to the hotel when we paid the final bill because it was clearly listed on the ticket. However, it was still an unexpected high expense that we did not expect given the area we were visiting. In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and if we ever visit Bali again, I will definitely book them again. Read less
