This is probably the most horrible hotel I have ever stayed at. First, they gave us the wrong room, claiming that's the room we booked, meanwhile we had confirmation that we booked a different room. Then, I spilled a sauce on my duvet cover and left it where they can see that it needs replacing. Instead of doing that, the room service turned it upside down so that I wouldn't see that it was not replaced, they put it back on the bed dirty is it was. Based on the poor service we had received at that point, my gut told me that it was not replaced, so I immediately checked when I returned to the room. Floors, Toilets and shower were never cleaned. Had to request them to come to the room and clean. The toilet had a horrible smell coming - plumbing issues. Basically the rooms were never cleaned. All they did was sweep and provide toilet paper, tissues and provide the old and overused towels! It's also strange how they do not invest in english classes for their staff, seeing as that English is the universal language. They struggled to understand some basic things. Also, if you fall within the black race, do not even bother considering this hotel. They will treat you inhumanely, especially the kitchen staff (a very few of them were polite) That's were I'm going to leave it. I ofcourse do not want to generalise, some hotel stuff were quite friendly. Read less

Most certainly not a 5* luxury hotel as advertised – very basic! Such a bad experience from the start at our check-in. We were told the next day by the manager on duty that we could leave the resort if we were not satisfied with the service and the food. Oh my word – what has happened to Customer Service? In the 10 days that we paid for at this resort, we had a total of 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners. We decided to have our meals at another 5* hotel that cost us an absolute fortune. We checked out of Sol Beach House 4 days before we were supposed to check out. We requested to speak to someone in a management position from the first day we arrived only to be informed that no one was available. We finally got to speak to someone on Day 6 but by then we had decided that we could no longer stay there and informed her that we were checking out. The all-inclusive package is a complete waste of your money as you are completely limited and the selection from the buffet for lunch and dinner was very basic and simple and in fact rather shocking. This resort definitely does not come anywhere near a 5* resort and has no idea of what a buffet should consist of. The flies constantly flying around and sitting on the buffet food are disgusting as well as the ants that are on the dessert at the lunch buffet should seriously be looked into and something done about this. The rooms are rather spacious but extremely basic. Bathroom towels need major attention as they are very old, thin and shabby. Bed/mattress very uncomfortable and pillows need attention and should all be replaced. We requested a better mattress only to be informed that they cannot replace your mattress. For a 5* resort this is rather unacceptable. The pool is in drastic need of maintenance and rundown and the pool area is way too small for the size of the property. There are no small tables or umbrellas around the pool and you get told by the pool staff that if you want shade, you should go to the beach where they have umbrellas there. Nothing really good to say about this resort except that there are far better superior 5* resorts/hotels in the same area that offer excellent service, entertainment and food. The overall experience and value for money completely ruined our Christmas. Read less

Very nice staff, tasty food but small selection of vegetarian food, large and clean rooms, very nice beach but outflow of the sea in the middle of the day, too hot water in the pool, expensive additional services.

Wow! This place blew us away! We stayed in the Xtra Beach House Suite and paid for the silver all inclusive. Upon checking we were greeted with a lovely refreshing drink, and whilst the check in was a long process, they explained everything perfectly. Our room was amazing! Our room was located right on the end (8208) and if you are wanting this particular standard of room, this is the one to request. It overlooks the pool and ocean, and downstairs exits right onto the pool area, although it is never noisy. It was super convenient especially if All of the seats around the pool were taken (and this happens a lot...get in early. Some people like to leave their pool towels on chair all day, even if they are not there). We also had ring side seats to the nightly entertainment on the lawn area. The room featured an upstairs loft bedroom that had its own bathroom. We had three children sleeping up there (7,10 and 17) very comfortably, with two on two single beds, and a third on a roll out, large single bed. There was a tv, and their own controls with the air conditioner, although they said the room was always perfectly cool. Down the beautiful marble stairway, was a large foyer, another toilet, lounge room, dining table, and then another bedroom. This master bedroom was extremely large, the size of two normal bedrooms, and also a large en-suite. This en-suite had a spa and a large shower. Showers in both bathrooms had six side jets and two overhead showers, a rain shower, and a normal shower head. There is no kitchen, but you don’t need one as all food was included. Thee is tea and coffee making facilities, and a mini bar that was restocked everyday and included. Outside upstairs had a balcony, and downstairs had a verandah. There were drying rails on each of these. The complex itself was not too small and not too large. The pool was large but not shaded at all, so did warm up during the day. It opened from 7am-7pm, which I felt wasn’t long enough to enjoy the cooler time of the day, but it wasn’t a huge problem. The beach was super hot, but had plenty of umbrellas and cabana’s. The best time of the day was the late afternoon or early morning, but the hot sand does burn, so be careful! Non-motorised water activities were included, including and SUP’s. Swimming in the ocean was easy and safe. Warm water and quite shallow. There is a path for running along the beachfront for those energetic enough, but even a run at 6am was super sweaty. The beautifully manicured lawns and gardens were amazing and made the place feel a lot cooler. The restaurants were fabulous. All meals were delicious, and there was a lot of variety. We did not go to the fine dining restaurant as you needed to book in one day in advance (and we stayed over Christmas so there was no time), but the Kitchen had a large range of food for dinner and lunch, and the breakfast buffet was the biggest I have ever seen. The pastry section is to die for, along with waffles, pancakes, bacon, eggs, omelettes, and a range of other hot and cold foods. For lunch and dinner there is also the outdoors pool restaurant, with different themes for every day. There were also delicious, but we preferred The Kitchen. Then there was also the juice bar, which served up gelato and juice from 10am to 6pm, and again, all included. There was also evening entertainment, and while we were there, there was Latin dancing, and also traditional Balinese. Of course though, we stayed over Christmas, and whilst Christmas is not celebrated in Bali as a whole as they are mostly Hindu, Sol Beach House made it very special. They had a large Christmas banquet served in their ballroom, which was fabulously done up in a traditional Christmas theme. There was lots of entertainment and singing and dancing, and a visit from the Jolly man dressed in red, along with his rather nice looking Christmas helpers. The food was a huge buffet full of every food you can imagine, and the dessert included a chocolate fountain and chocolate ‘eggs’ . The directors of entertainment, the dancers, and the chefs and wait staff should all be commended on this night. The only negatives were the air conditioning in the master bedroom, as we could not lower the temperature from 24C, and also the slight smell of sewerage first thing in the morning in the lower part of our apartment. All in all, this resort was well worth the money we paid for all inclusive. All kids loved it there, as did the adults. Read less
