The pool and beach areas are nice but the drinks were expensive if you are buying them individually (not part of the all inclusive) The rooms were big and basic. Air conditioning was amazing after a hot day on the beach. The gym is basic but what is expected from a hotel gym. I managed to get on a few decent work outs in using the equipment they have. The staff were very friendly and can help you arrange activities and taxis. Read less

We stayed at the Melia/Sol Beach house Benoa recently, it is a great hotel the pool bar was awesome! We initially booked the standard twin room but it was awful, right near the road and so noisy! So many police cars going past at like 3am, I crapped myself thinking I was back in South Africa with all the sirens etc. My advice is to rather pay more for the pool view room/junior suite. Luckily they upgraded our room to the junior suite which was awesome!! Huge thank you to the young guy at reception for organising, so helpful and professional 😊 I loved the tortoise, feeding him was special- just felt sorry for him as he was in such a small enclosure. All in all it was great fun staying there however the surrounding area was a bit boring, lacked atmosphere was bit of a ghost town but that’s not the hotels fault. I personally prefer Seminyak, and Uluwatu areas. This hotel is great I’d say 4 stars in comparison to the Anantara, and Peppers where I’ve stayed before. The all inclusive seems worth it though. Great fun time, met some awesome new friends from Europe on the last night too, there’s something about that pool bar haha!! Thanks for a great time, next time we return to Bali will prob go somewhere with a bit more nightlife like Seminyak otherwise highly recommend the hotel for couples and families wanting a quieter holiday! Just got home after two weeks and we couldnt find fault with ANYTHING. Just been reading a nasty review and i dont think that person stayed at the same place. We stayed in room 8187 on the second floor overlooking the garden and it was perfect, the bed was comfortable, the room was cleaned and towels replaced daily, minibar re-stocked nicely with a decent selection. Check-in was easy and hassle free. The guys at the pool bar were great fun and very attentive, always smiling too. The beach was lovely and yes there was limited swimming space in the ocean but people need to have fun with boats and jetskis so its common sense to restrict it a little but not to the detriment of anything!! Plenty of available sun loungers around the pool and loads on the beach too. Entertainment was fun and the Balinese dance shows were stunning!! I would just like to say that the biggest asset this hotel has are its staff, they are a credit to the hotel, i really cannot state this strongly enough, they really did make our holiday special. After 25 hours travelling home we are exhausted but happy. We really cannot return to this hotel soon enough. Do not read too much into any negative reviews this hotel gets because they do not deserve it, it just seems you cant please some people!! Definitely worth the long travel if you are from Europe. Thank you so much Sol Beach House for such a special holiday. We will be back!!! Read less

Just got back last night and spent 5 days here. Our first time in Bali and if we come back will definitely be here.Just seen a review from someone that was there same time as us, and whilst everyone has their own views i feel i must express our opinions. Yes the hotel is not brand new, but it is not run down and very clean. Yes there were visitors from other countries, but is that not what going on holiday is all about meeting other cultures ? The food we believe was really good and so much choice. We mostly ate at the buffet, but one night went to the Italian restaurant and the food was amazing. As for the staff, we did not come across one rude person and found them all to be lovely, and nothing was too much trouble. From our initial pick up by the lovely Deni, and then the reception, dining and the fantastic pool bar boys they all made us feel very welcome. If i had to criticise anything it would be the towels, they really need some new ones, for rooms and pool but that is a minor issue. Well done Sol Beach Benoa you run a great hotel and have wonderful staff which for any business is the most important thing. Thank you for looking after us and hope to see you next year. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating A very rundown hotel that made me feel dirty, so don't be fooled by the beach pictures and nice garden photos.

I thought this place was disgraceful and i'm telling the truth. I can't believe it gets good reviews. In fact, i'm bewildered as to the low standards people must have to rate this place anything above 2 stars. We only stayed here because another hotel messed up our booking, and wanted to minimise the financial cost. So we stayed here because it was a little bit cheaper. As a result, we found out the hard way you get what you pay for. The bathroom stunk of sewage after every shower, and after reading another tripadvisor review that mentioned the same thing, we thought it was common to other rooms, so we endured it. The hallway to rooms echoed and reverberated loud doors closing. Every poorly fitted door slammed shut as people tried to shut their doors by pulling hard. In fact, i'm writing this now because some ignorant people next door were checked in at midnight, slammed their door, woke us up, then proceeded to turn the tv on and loud. We heard many european accents here, and most loved to smoke cigarettes, so you will smell smoke throughout the hotel, including breakfast, by the pool and in the lobby. I have been to stunning beaches around the world, and i thought this beach was disgusting. The noise from jetskis and speedboats is constant, and the smell of marine fuel and exhaust is sickening. You can only swim within a tiny zone, because if you swim outside the rope you will endanger your life by marine vehicles speeding past. Breakfast has ok food, with flies regularly landing on my meal and the occasional waft of cigarette smoke. The chairs are heavy and make huge scraping noises when people get up or sit down. The garden view room we had was of market stalls with a vehicle access road on the other side of the property. Not a pleasant view and not quiet. The pool needs maintenance and the pool bar is dirty and very rundown. Cigarette smoke is all around the pool. The gym is very basic, and aircon barely making the room cooler than the 30 deg. outside. The towels had to be changed daily or they started to smell, and two of the four pillows had to be changed at my request, because i couldn't stand the smell coming from them. I remained calm the entire time i was here, even though i couldn't wait to get back to my beautiful country where i can drink the tap water. I could add many more examples of why this place made me feel dirty, but these many reasons are also the nail in the coffin for any future trips to bali. Everything i have written is true and my opinion Read less
