Alila Ubud

Ubud, Bali

The hotel

This hotel blends contemporary design with traditional Balinese architecture. Design-led and very stylish, the Alila Ubud is a secluded hillside retreat renowned for its dramatic infinity pool with amazing views, which appears to float over the valley below. It's lush gardens, secluded courtyards and terraces create a wonderfully intimate and peaceful atmosphere. The Spa Alila nurtures body and mind, and sources many of its spa ingredients locally in the Balinese foothills, and with the therapists using ancient asian healing techniques and age-old beauty recipes you are sure to feel rejuvenated and refreshed after a visit. If you wish to get out and about there is a leisure concierge that will help you discover more about this fascinating area by trekking or cycling locally or organising cultural learning with visits to Balinese dancing events.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and overall the atmosphere was so incredibly relaxed. The peaceful and spiritual nature of the Balinese folk was a real treat and we learned a bit of history from the staff, which was great. The food was plentiful and delicious, with the cheeky monkeys on hand to take a swipe at a plate in an instant! We spent a day at the cookery school which was satisfying, and a session in the spa - the Balinese massage is just fabulous. There were many more facilities and trips available, but we did our own lazy happy thing - and the infinity pool made that really easy! It was a little slice of paradise for us, and we will definitely return. Read less

Unlike the classic Alila in the other locations, the branch in Ubud is more classic Balinese. Great service. The rooms are really not the best for the price. With newer hotels, you get better value elsewhere. It is also a little out of the way which translate to regular taxi service. However the star is really the pool and the view. Wow. Just… Read more

My Husband and I really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone. The only draw back is the number of steps, not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Read less

Please note the if you book a room with open bathroom that there will be animals of all kinds visiting you, but this normally shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Breakfast was amazing and so broad. Please note the if you book a room with open bathroom that there will be animals of all kinds visiting you, but this normally shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. Breakfast was amazing and so broad. The area was beautiful and there are daily shuttles to Ubud centre for free. Staff was really helpful and kind. The only remark I have is that the WiFi is kind of bad when there’s a lot of people. For the of the stay we enjoyed ourselves to the max. Read less
