Hotel Tugu Lombok

Lombok, Indonesia

The hotel

Time has stood still in this little corner of Lombok. The tropical scenery and silky sands of Sire Beach seem pure and untouched. The sunrises over Mount Rinjani and views of the Gili Islands are the same seen by locals for centuries. The elaborate dining experiences include theatrical historic banquets, where you’ll feast like royalty on imperial dishes served by costumed locals. Your spa treatments can be taken in an open-air temple, decorated with reliefs. And they’ve even rebuilt ancient Lombok buildings and curated local artworks to add to the unspoilt island feel. Tugu Hotel Lombok isn’t completely timeless though, and it welcomes modern travel treats like its oversized swimming pools, complimentary WiFi, the neighbouring 18 hole golf course, and a ‘dine anywhere’ concept that covers the whole resort, from the sandy beach to the lotus pool pavilion.

We visited Tugu Lombok on our honeymoon. It’s super romantic! Hotel Is stunning, grounds are large and it has a long stretch of private beach (nice sand, turquoise water). So much gorgeous art here, impressive sculptures, really stunning property. It has two HUGE pools and it wasn’t busy when we were here so we basically had pools to ourselves. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Food was excellent quality (I am vegetarian and loved everything). So many different locations to eat at too, including romantic beach setups. Lots of activities from here including an easy hop over to Gili Islands for a super fun day out. Lombok is great- not as touristy as Bali. It’s Muslim instead of Hindu so you hear the call to Prayers which is a beautiful sound. Overall we loved it and would recommend for those seeking peace quiet beach and some water activities. Plus it’s great to support Lombok after their earthquake, and this is a local hotel chain so money goes to the right people (compared to a massive international chain). Read less

Unique place with unique people that made our stay here magical. Everyday was different and exciting. The food was a blissful, tasty delight with all the dishes so exquisitely prepared and presented. The people here made us feel like family, so polite, gentle and willing to make every moment special and memorable. We want to thank all the staff for the amazing memories that we made here, especially: Aga, Hari, Tomam, Mahmoud and the room service staff for the beautiful surprises. We will definitely return to this paradise to create more life lasting memories! Read less

When we first arrived at Tugu we wondered if we were the only people staying at the resort. The expanse of the site means you can relax and chill without being elbow to elbow with others. It is completely relaxing. Afternoon tea was a nice addition and when we got to mingle with others staying at the resort. The option to borrow snorkelling gear and kayaks was amazing. We enjoyed paddling out on the secluded bay sporting fish and sea stars. The food was awesome. Breakfast provided a perfect blend of options that kept you full until tea time. The dinner options, a mixture of traditional and Italian were great. We sampled a mix of both and were never disappointed. We also booked into to spa whilst here and enjoyed a lovely relaxing massage each. Definitely worth making use of this facility. But the best thing about this place is the service. Within in the first few hours all the staff appeared to know our names which added a lovely personal touch. Sigit and team were great hosts. The morning greetings in our menu were lovely and on our last day the towel safari really made us smile. We would absolutely come back and would urge anyone thinking of travelling to Indonesia to spend some time here (and Lombok in general). Read less

The attentive and friendly staff, beautifully manicured property (decorated with stunning art and antiques), delicious cuisine and activities (highly recommend the snorkeling trip to the nearby Gili islands on the dragon boat!) - all made this trip a most relaxing and memorable experience. Don't forget to take advantage of the SUP and kayaks, relaxing massage, mountain bikes for a nearby trek at sunset, shell collecting along the pristine beach. We will definitely be coming back! Each day flowers were put in the room and the towel art was lovely and a nice surprise. I was given flowers each morning on my way to breakfast which was really nice. The staff are genuinely helpful and will do anything to help. My partner forgot flip flops and Sigit went out of his way to find a pair for him. The food is fantastic great juices at breakfast and the Indonesian afternoon tea a nice touch. The island is beautiful but needs its tourists back post the earthquake. The government are rebuilding roads and homes but they need people to visit. The hotel had a traditional dragon boat for snorkelling trips to the Gili isles and we were lucky to swim with the turtles. An amazing place with wonderful staff. Read less
