Katamaran Resort Senggigi

Lombok, Indonesia

The hotel

It’s impossible to guess what you’ll photograph most at Katamaran Resort – but your shutter will definitely get a workout. Insta-worthy at every turn, it could be the beautiful sands of Mangsit Beach, which fringe the resort in this perfect patch of Senggigi, and are the backdrop for meals at The Sail Restaurant. It could be the sunsets that light the skies as you dine at The Kliff, the hotel’s stunning grill and seafood restaurant. It could be the seemingly endless ocean – seen as you swim, dine, take spa treatments, and work out in the glazed gym. It could be your uber-stylish and super-spacious suite or villa (snapped just to make your friends back home jealous). Or it could be the outrageously designed infinity pool – with its two tiers, sunken seating pods, water-skimming sunbeds, and see-through wall for unique photoshoots.

Staffs are so friendly & hospitality at its best. Thanks to Mr Thayib for making all my arrangements for rooms & airport shuttle. 3 days 2 night was not enough, at least you should spend 4-5 days to explore Lombok & enjoy the beaches & hotel facilities. Will come back for good!

I initially thought this was a small boutique resort, but its actually quite large. Good variation in room types but all seem to have at least a partial view of the ocean. Breakfast is a site to behold, they cater for everyone. I stayed a few nights then went on to Gili islands. I came back for one night and the staff arranged for an upgraded room… Read more

Breakfast is a site to behold, they cater for everyone. I stayed a few nights then went on to Gili islands. I came back for one night and the staff arranged for an upgraded room - they are super friendly and genuine. The big plus for me was being able to leave the balcony door open and have the fresh sea air filling the room each night. Read less

You can’t get perfection on Earth, but this place is something that gets as close as possible to it. You can’t get perfection on Earth, but this place is something that gets as close as possible to it. We had 10 wonderful days, enjoying our two-bedroom suite, the truly wonderful and varied breakfasts and the nice ocean view from the pools. It’s a place where we’ll certainly come back. However... the management can get even closer to perfection if they could address a couple of issues that have been deeply annoying, at least to us: 1. The music in the pool areas clashes with the peaceful surrounding: while a sort of lounge music could still make sense, the continuous nonsense of pop music is totally out of place. Most of the people coming to such wonderful places might prefer to listen to the sound of waves rather than to the last summer hits (those who like them, usually go to other kinds of places). The management could, for example, schedule pop music during happy-hours, and soft music the rest of the day. 2. There should be a stricter control over the impolite habit of some customers of “reserving” sun-beds by placing glasses, shoes, towels, and not even laying on them for hours. If sun-beds are not used for more than, say, half an hour, the staff (always very careful and efficient) should allow other customers to use them. I’m convinced that, if these two issues will be treated appropriately, future customers (including us) will certainly rate their stay to even closer to perfection! Read less

My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights. We had the ocean view suite with a private infinity pool. Unfortunately, the weather was a little cooler than usual (still mid 20s to low 30s) so the pools were all a bit chilly for me so one dip in each was all I managed. Other guests were in them all the time though. Bed was super comfy, and the… Read more

Unfortunately, the weather was a little cooler than usual (still mid 20s to low 30s) so the pools were all a bit chilly for me so one dip in each was all I managed. Other guests were in them all the time though. Bed was super comfy, and the pillows were amazing, if I could have, I would have bought some of them. We were picked up at the airport by the ever friendly Budi. When we arrived, we were served a cooling lemongrass drink and greeted by the beautiful April and the guest relations team. Everyone, from every area of the hotel, were always there to help us out, no matter what it was we wanted. Food and service was good and cocktails delicious. The lovely girls in the spa, Febri, Atin,Masni and all the others made our massages and other treatments very special. We also had a fabulous driver for when we wanted to go out. Unfortunately, my husband had an accident on our 9th day and ended up in hospital for the remainder of our stay. The manager, Wayan was very proactive in getting assistance for us. The hotel even sent a big fruit basket to the hospital. All in all, although it didn't end well, our holiday was excellent and we believe that staying at Katamaran was the best choice we could have made. We really want to go back again done day and would definitely stay here again 😁 Read less

Let’s start with strong points as there are not many - the hotel is quite new, located in the best part of Senggigi beach with a nice sea view. Rooms are spacious but materials used and the furnishing look cheap. Quality of service is really dissapointing - in the restaurant, although there are not many guests, you need to wait 15 minutes until a waiter notices you and collects your order, then 15 minutes after your drinks are served if you are lucky and then you need only 30 minutes more to get you food. Describing the food as „not impressive” is a very lenient verdict. Breakfasts are mediocre and The Kliff’s restaurant Western European dishes taste like a cheap fast food. Needless to say, everything is massively overpriced (yes, I have a comparison with similar standard hotels in Bali and Lombok). The Internet connection in the peak hours is very slow and breaks up (I can barely write this review - maybe that’s a way to avoid negative publicity). Housekeeping staff treats its duties in a very relaxed manner - coming back to the room in the evening after the whole day spent outside I found out the room was not cleaned - had to call the reception to intervene. Local businessmen offering trips, souvegnirs and other services nearby the hotel tend to be very intrusive and treat tourists like a large wildgame to hunt for. Overall, rather poor experience.
