The hotel

A stunning infinity-style pool lures you to swim up to its edge and gaze out at the ocean, or take the steps down from the water onto the white sands of Lombok – but it’s just one of the highlights of this low-key beachfront resort. After staying 5 wonderful and amazing days in Bali with my boyfriend we decided to spend the rest of our holidays in Lombock. We have booked the pool villa right by the sea wich gives a beautiful view. First things we did after checking was to run to beach of the hotel, a little bit disappointed and un expected the beach was extremely dirty, full of plastic bags... even in the sea wich made uncomfortable having some plastic bags rubbing your feet when you were swimming. While my boyfriend was swimming I decided to lie down on the sunbed wich made me regret it because 2 kids came across me asking me for money and begged me to buy there bracelets, I normally love ppl who sell stuff on the beach because it brings memories and sometimes you find nice things that you wouldn't find in the shop, but I felt harassed by a groupe of kids, using pity to beg for money which put me in a very uncomfortable situation andyou wouldn't expect that in the hotel. We understand that it's a very poor island but it made us very uncomfortable to have kids at the hotel following you and harassing you for money or they wont leave, we came there to relax and enjoying the scenery but to be honest I didn't feel safe and relaxed during this trip, all taxi, places were more expensive than Bali, and the locals people were not as welcoming, friendly as we felt in Bali. This resort was absolutely fantastic! Everything from the staff, the rooms and the food was great. On arrival, staff checked us in super quickly and we were shown to our beautiful room which had been wonderfully made up with flowers everywhere for decoration. The beds are very big and very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The one downside was that late one night the guests in the room above us seemed to be making quite a lot of noise and furniture was scraping around on the floor. This only went on for about 15minutes and we didn't raise it with the hotel as it wasn't their fault. But I would definitely recommend putting carpet in the upstairs rooms to prevent the noise going down to the next level. Other than this EVERYTHING was great! We stayed 4 nights with the breakfast buffet included - so many options and we didn't get sick of it either as they were changing it up a bit each day. The beach is nice and clean and the water is crystal clear. We spent quite a few hours in the bar and found the service great! Everyone remembered what we were drinking and always had a smile for us. Ovick makes great cocktails! Overall this was a great place to stay for a proper relaxing time and we look forward to returning again! Thank you everyone at Novotel lombok!! Read less

Spent a night here in Superior Room, rooms are spacious and comfortable. Cheapest rooms start from 1 million IDR (INR 5000/USD 70+) per night while more luxurious garden pool villa and private pool villa costs 3 to 4 times more. If you book for 2+ nights some extra perks like free airport transfer are available. Breakfast may not be included unless specified- pay attention while booking. Superior and deluxe rooms do not have much of a view to offer as they are bit far from ocean. Entire campus is designed in some Egyptian village theme with villas looking like village huts on the outside- but of course all the luxuries once inside.. In garden pool villa you get a pool but to be shared with other 4-5 garden pool guests. Private pool villa gets exclusive pool (but a bit smaller than garden pool) Family rooms are also available. There is one infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a secondary pool as well, in addition to actual beach and private pools in your villa. Beach area is almost private (Local law doesn't allow private beach- outsiders are free to walk into ocean area but given the distance from town such instances are few- I saw some vendors trying to sneak in and sell their wares to the guests. There're swings and sit out areas by the beach with a bar, volleyball court, surfing and other activities. Several activities are available to keep you occupied. A few attractions like heritage village, sunset point etc are nearby. MotoGP Track is also coming up neaby to Novotel Lombok. A movie screening area, an ATM, a gift shop and other facilities are available within the campus. Breakfast I would rate as 'decent' for a vegetarian. Branded drinking water bottle is chargeable 30000 IDR (USD 2) but unlimited RO treated drinking water is available through machines kept in each floor. Several other green initiatives are also in place- like no straw is offered with drinks unless explicitly requested. There are free bicycles you can take and ride around. 21% tax applicable on all rates shown- factor this. Some add-ons like My Glass package can be available to get unlimited soft drinks and hard drinks (subject to some restrictions) Overall good place to stay in Lombok if the rates are in your budget. We have just returned from 5 nights at the Novotel that we booked through luxury escapes. We stayed in a private pool villa. The resort has a range of accommodations. There are a few beachfront pool villas - 2 bedroom. The private pool villa, private villa no pool and then a few villas around a shared pool. And then hotel style 3 story block. I would choose the shared pool villas if I returned without kids as the pool looked nice and shady. The villa we had although old, was clean, good curtains that keep the room dark, good size pool and cabana. I found the bed a little hard. The pool had some shade during the day but only stayed cool In The morning. The other main pool and kids pool also became very warm by the end of the day. My 2 year old loved the small slide. We had massage included in our package and they were excellent every time. The resort has a beautiful beach with calm water that my toddler loved. There are cabanas along the beach and it was great to set up here and have drinks and food. The beach is affected by the tide, fortunately for us it was high tide during the day. If swimming in the ocean is important to you than I suggest checking the tide before you book. I would have liked to go for a SUP but not for 30$ an hour which I think is a bit much. The food was just ok. Order Indonesian dishes and they were decent but everything else was blah. The buffet breakfast had a good selection, but the cold dishes did not get refreshed as the morning went on. Best to eat early. The staff were all great, friendly and helped entertain our little ones. I loved the old feel of the place and the interesting decor and pathways. I just must add that this resort is not really accessible for elderly, wheelchairs and prams. There are stairs, stepping stones, sand and all sorts of winding pathways to get around the place. Overall we enjoyed our holiday here. _ Read less
